7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey. I am reading this to improve my dream and pick up oo new habits, and lose all the bad ones. Sections of the book are public and private victories.
Section 8 of this book private victories. talks about the personal bank account how we should be true to ourselves. Also talks about how we should renew , be honest, and be gentle with ourselves. I feel like sometimes I’m able to renew myself, but other times i feel like its hard.
This section is a private victory, and the habit is proactive .being proactive means you can react to situations without exploding, and you can do things more thought out, and calm. Being proactive is kind of like water you shake it up and nothing happens. But not being proactive is like pop when you shake it up it explodes. I believe that I am not very good at this task and i need to

Workers who work with adolescents and, especially, parents would enjoy this book since it would bring understanding and the reader could personally relate to the author. As the author evidently strives to effectively raise adults, parents likewise strive. In this endeavor, since this book provided a history of the adolescent’s culture, the current state of the adolescent’s culture, relational qualities to implement while approaching teenagers, and how to practical respond to teenagers’ issues. Overall, this is a beneficial
Habit 3 is Put First Things First. Personally, I struggled with putting first things first as I was a procrastinator but, I have finally conquered myself and I am no longer in Quadrant 1! You see, there are different time quadrants which tell you if you are a 1. Procrastinator, 2. Prioritizer, 3. Yes-Man and 4. Slacker. You need to always stay on top of things and stay in quadrant 2 but it’s not easy, so you must work very hard for it to become a natural thing for you. Another way to becoming a prioritizer is to realize what your big rocks are and what your small rocks are. In other words, take notice of what is important first and those will be your big rocks to accomplish first. Only then will you have space for all the small rocks. Lastly, don’t let fear control you, control your fear. It’s okay to make mistakes if you’re trying to do the right thing. On page 121 in the 7 Habits book, Sean Covey says “Winning means rising each time you fail.” This is telling you that although you failed, if you are willing to rise and try again and pick up your broken pieces, that is winning. This is a hard habit to conquer but once you do it, it will change your
Habits are choices that one continues to do repeatedly without actually thinking about them. Habits start with a decision, but they eventually become automatic. One can probably think about things we do every day that we wish we did less of, perhaps like binging Netflix, constantly checking social media, or snacking when not being hungry. If one can understand how habits are triggered, one can learn how to overcome them. The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg and “Rat Park” by Lauren Slater will reveal the main strategies to recognize and overcome habits. Angie Bachman, a women who developed a gambling habit due was well aware of her habits, but she continued to drag herself into debt, resulting in losing all that she owned and getting sued by
... think that in this book, the author tried to convey the requirements a person needs to achieve his or her objectives. The main character in the book is a young boy named Sam Gribley. He left his home to live in the forest by himself. Sam wanted to be independent. He also wanted to survive using the resources in the woods. From my point of view, having goals makes your life worthwhile. In addition, when you know what you want, it is easier for you to find a way to reach it. When you reach something you want, you are able to realize what traits of your personality and what conditions have helped you to get there. In the end, a journey towards one’s goals is more a journey towards one’s real essence. That is why I think that all of us must set goals and try to accomplish them.

...n you desire, taking an encompassing goal and breaking it down to smaller specific goals allows you to create a defined map that will promote your progress, one small step at a time, until your dreams have been achieved.
"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey outlines seven main beliefs that he believes individuals need to focus on in order to become highly effective. “Habits are powerful factors in our lives. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily express our character and produce our effectiveness…or ineffectiveness.” (Covey 46)
...objectives. I have finally come to know what my goals are and the way in which my career will be sculpted. It is more of self-evaluation and self organization than for others.
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is a book written by Stephen Covey. In the book he writes about seven habits that highly effective people have. The seven habits of highly effective people are: be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, seek first to understand then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the saw.
Being proactive is the first step in the seven habit journey. I thought I was proactive because I always had to plan everything in my life. Family vacations, work schedules, continuing education all were events that I was proud to say I planned right down to the last detail. Reading the Covey material I realized that being proactive went much deeper than just planning life events. Being proactive involves choosing my attitude, focusing on my circle of influence and not my circle of concern, and turning setbacks into triumphs. Being proactive means to act based on principles not emotions. We all need a pause button that would allow us to stop during that time between...
The behavior I would like to modify is the level of my procrastination. Procrastination was the first thing that came to my mind as something that I wanted to try to change. I push majority of the things I have to do until the day before it is due, making excuses and thinking to myself that it can wait and does not have to be done now, or there are important things to do or that think to myself that I can do something else at the time. My goal is to eliminate or decrease the level of procrastinating.
What I liked most about the book was that it not only entertained me, but also taught me some lessons and helped me learn things that I didn’t know about myself. One of the things that I learned was that we tend to cheat when we are tired (Ariely 97). As we go through our day complete with various stressors (especially me) and saying no, we are more prone to cheating than someone who isn’t as mentally strained. This helped me recognize that by the end of the day I am predisposed to cheating and lying more often. After using so much mental effort it just becomes easier to do the wrong thing. This reminded me of what we talked about in class about system 1 and system 2 thinking. We naturally used our system 1 thinking because it’s our default, but through the day we still use our system 2 thinking which uses a lot more mental effort. We are essentially miserly by this point. Because we use so much mental effort, we immediately go back into system 1 thinking which would make it easier to cheat. You can see this in one of Ariely’s experiments involving the Stroop Task (Ar...
The Philosophy of Winning in Society Today: Indeed Crucial in Life, but Not the ‘Only Thing’ Insofar as today’s economy can be considered task-oriented, or characterized by an approach to life that focuses on fulfilling certain requirements to accomplish concomitant goals, the concept of “winning” presides over nearly every aspect of one’s professional life. Defined as the achievement of a predetermined objective, “to win” is the conscious or unconscious impetus behind many of our personal or vocational endeavors alike. Even ambitions as prosaic as a determination to arrive at the office earlier than one’s coworkers can be understood as driven by a desire to win. For those who hold this perspective, then, “winning” can quickly become the overarching
A habit can be many things, some good, some not so good. Everyone has habits that they would like to change and maybe improve upon. I believe the majority of habits I have are good ones but some are not. These bad habits are the ones I will talk about.
The book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey he provides 7 habits to help you improve. They are separated into two parts called private and public victories or Personal and relationship bank accounts.
