Hartwick college has recently changed the rules to the living requirements of full time students. With the building of new apartments on campus, the college has made it mandatory that all students live on campus all four years. The college did not let incoming students know of this change before we chose to attend this college. Being able to have the option to live off of campus Junior and Senior year is a perk of going to college, but Hartwick took that perk away from us. The new apartments on campus are a great addition to the on-campus housing for Hartwick College. Equipped with a kitchen, two bathrooms, four bedrooms, and a living room space. It is equivalent to living in an apartment off of campus, but is much cheaper. With an apartment off of campus, students will need to pay for heat, electricity, cable, and monthly rent. Not the mention the three thousand dollars that Hartwick College will charge students for living off of campus. Also, with an apartment off of campus, students have to commute every day to the college. …show more content…

With living off campus, comes more freedom for students. There are no RA’s in the apartment’s off campus, and there is no limit to how many people you can have stay the night. students will also not have to check in the any of their guests. Secondly, students do not need to worry about quiet hours or noise complaints from other students. They might just need to worry about complaints from neighbors. Lastly with an apartment off of campus students get to experience what it is like to bay bills, rent, and grocery shop on their own.
