Reading about a topic like this, players who are not satisfied or just want to change club can collect knowledge about what is important to consider when deciding a new club. I have played handball for six years, and in those years I have played for three different clubs; Lier IL, Sylling IL and Reistad IL. I am currently playing for Lier IL. That makes it easier to develop more skills as a player because it brings greater challenges, but it also means that every player will get less playing time. I quickly understood that Reistad IL was a club who wanted to accomplish greater things than what I wanted to as a player. The players on Reistad IL are very serious when it comes to handball, unlike me who only plays for fun. The team had less cohesion because there were so many people which made it difficult to get to know everyone and the environment were not as good as it was on Sylling IL Eventually I decided that Reistad IL was not the club for me, so I looked for another club in the area. I switched to Lier IL, a small club with few players. The players welcomed me with open arms, and made me feel like an important part of the team. I got a lot of playing time in handball matches, and the workouts were
The article shares with the reader that children who join competitive sports at a young age can learn discipline and healthy habits when performed right. Jordan strongly suggests athletes, coaches and parents need to be properly educated on safe training techniques and know how to read their children when they have an injury. This way the young athletes can join in on as many sport teams as they want. Over the recent years many regulations and laws have been passed, such as The Lystedt laws that “mandate a gradual return-to-play protocol to better protect youth athletes in all sports from the risks of preventable concussions”(Jordan). This will protect the players who do decide to specialize in one sport at an early

In the 2015 AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts, the Patriots were accused of tampering with their footballs. They allegedly deflated the footballs to 2 PSI below the legal limit, supposedly giving them an unconstituted and illegal advantage. On May 11th, 2015, the National Football League ruled that the Patriots organization was guilty, penalizing them with a 1 million dollar fine, the loss of a first round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, and the loss of a fourth round pick in the 2017 draft. Tom Brady, the quarterback, was personally penalized with a four-game suspension for his involvement in the incident. He claims, however, to be innocent and has been exhausting every possible legal avenue to avoid his punishment.

Youth sports can be a learning experience or it can be a health risk to the athletes. Youth sports can teach young children the value of hard work and discipline or it can be emotionally and physically damaging. These three ideas prove that youth sports can be healthy, they build character, and can teach them the value of hard work and discipline for your kid.
From soccer to football and baseball to basketball, each sport has its one valuable position. This one position is essential for the team’s victories. The player to fill this role must not only be a decisive leader but a skillful player as well. This spot requires hard work and dedication which in turn provides teammates with a satisfying example and contributes to the team’s victories. Not any player is capable of fulfilling these requirements so certain precautions should be taken when fulfilling these roles. Two complementary positions from two varying sports are the basketball point guard and football quarterback. Although their origins are from
Contact sports in America, like football and boxing, carry a rich history of the spirit of the game, and the feeling of victory. These games bring us together as we cry out and cheer for our team or fighter as they deliver the winning touchdown, or the knockout that brings them the undisputed champion belt. However, these players are facing injuries that can destroy their career and affect their brain for the rest of their lives. We shouldn’t outlaw contact sports, but we should force safety to become more important. If we want to keep our players safe and continue the tradition of the contact sports we enjoy as a country, then we must evolve our safety in sports, and change the way we view contact sports as a country.
What makes champions in sport? At the end of the day, it is the moment when one stands at the top of the podium, holding up their well-deserved medals and trophies that all elite athletes strive for. Thus, experts have studied this question extensively to see which programs, or by what means, are elite athletes developed to achieve this goal. One of the many aspects to athlete development is the controversial topic of deliberate practice versus deliberate play. Deliberate practice can be defined as “any training activity (a) undertaken with the specific purpose of increasing performance, (b) requiring cognitive and/or physical effort, and (c) relevant to promoting positive skill development” (Cote et al., 2007, p. 185) On the other hand, deliberate play is defined as “a form of sporting activity that involves early developmental physical activities that are intrinsically motivating, provide immediate gratification, and are specifically designed to maximize enjoyment” (Cote et al., 2007, p. 185-186). The phrase “deliberate practice versus deliberate play” is a common misnomer, since the terms are portrayed as the only two options; however, this is a false dichotomy. Empirical evidence supports the fact that both aspects are essential for the development of athletes; therefore the phrase should be correctly cited as “deliberate practice and deliberate play”. This commentary will focus on discussing the importance of both deliberate practice and deliberate play for elite athlete development as well as pose some questions on talent identification and early specialization in sport.
The topic of positive discipline is one of great importance especially so in the world of athletics. Often time the term discipline is misconstrued by parents, player and unfortunately some coaches. Parents may associate the term as their player being subject to harsh treatment; while athletes my see it as restrictive and punishing, sadly to say some coaches validate both the parents and the athletes view of discipline. Many older or seasoned coaches hold to the concept that discipline simply apply to the performance of all play properly, the athlete focusing solely on the sport they are participating and striving to win every game. Failure to live up to the coaches expectations could result in extreme practices or the like and be falsely labeled as discipline. However, athletes receive positive discipline it spans well beyond the practice or playing field. Positive discipline affects an athlete’s entire life sometimes for their entire life. Undisciplined athletes have the potential to reflect negatively on the entire organization and can be like an infectious disease that spreads rapidly to the whole team. The term “One bad apple will the spoil the bunch” holds especially true in team athletics. In athletics players spend a large amount of their time with fellow teammates making it easy to pick up one another’s habits both good and bad. Coaches and player of sports such as; Baseball, Basketball and Football spend anywhere from two to three hours a day, three to five times a week with one another. Quite naturally do to the many hour’s coaches and players spend together players learn some of their behavior from the coach. Often times coaches have more face time with players than parents; therefore, making positive discipline vit...
This research task requires that, through participation in skill learning and game play during the volleyball unit we have been required to observe and analyse the characteristics of skilled performers; receive feedback on weaknesses in technique and develop and participate in training activities that could correct these weaknesses.
As I walked onto the volleyball court, I noticed people were screaming and cheering all around me. They were all around me, and yet they all sounded strangely distant. I was nervous. I was worried that we might lose, but worst of all, I was worried that I might end up letting my teammates down. Negative thoughts continued filled my head and I drew closer and closer to my position. Once again, I found myself asking whether or not I truly belonged on this team. Now, this certainly was not the first time I questioned my place on the team, but little did I know that it would be the last.
People in both ancient and modern societies have enjoyed playing sports in the spare time. The different shapes of athletic equipment, uniforms, and balls such as basketball, baseball, football, and soccer ball are designed differently to serve the purpose of their sports Also, each sport has been developed in various ways.
DRIBLING: Dribbling is moving along with the ball while bouncing from one place of the court to another. Skilled dribbling can pull opponents to them and create space for the mates or can dribble and reach to the area to score. Basic dribbling is done with fingers spread apart to push to the ball from the top of the ball rather than with palms of hands and keep the bounce height to waist level. Using fingers provides more grip and accurate placement of the ball. If one’s holds the ball after dribbling and dribbles again, it is considered a foul known as double-dribble. A foul is also awarded if the attacker is tackled in the Key area.
