Hamlet's Dilemmas

Hamlet has many minor problems that contribute to his major dilemma in the play.
One of the struggles Hamlet faced was the appearance of Hamlets father ‘King Hamlet’s’ ghost. Hamlet was reminded of his father’s absence with the presentation of the ghost. The ghost’s appearance created morality in Hamlet as the ghost added extra pressure to the decision on whether not to gain revenge on Claudius. Hamlet’s personality in the play suggests that he often overthinks everything expressing a large amount of morality especially when the decision to kill Claudius was to be made. Hamlet created a large delay in this decision as he continued to overthink and express morality of what the right thing to do was. Due to this morality and pressure that Hamlet was presented with he suffered from melancholy a sadness mixed with anger that could not be understood for any known reason, and this led to his second guessing of his actions and his outraging emotional …show more content…

Throughout a range of research and external sources my view and thought has changed about the play. The play was by my judgement mostly negatively mindset based and this was my perspective also. However, after viewing and inspecting the text more closely I found that in every different situation Hamlet encountered there was often a more positive outset to it. My response to this play is very multifaceted. I interpreted this play as being a mostly revenge driven play however there are so many other themes that create the story that Hamlet is. The one theme I did not pick up on was Love. Love in this play is not exalted but it is hidden in the shadow of Hamlet’s sadness, anger and focus on the revenge of his father. The revenge of his father ‘King Hamlet’ can be seen as Hamlet’s one job in the play as it is the focus and theme that overrules and overshadows so many other themes and issues that are prominent in this
