Shakespeare’s Hamlet and The Comedy of Errors are vastly different plays as one is a tragedy and the other a comedy. Though the fact that they were written by the same author shows up in both. Happy endings and plays within plays are demonstrated in both of these works but at the end of the day their genre keeps them extremely separate from each other.

Throughout the play, Hamlet is shown as being a planner and this is highlighted with his organisation of the dumb show and the play within a play in act three, scene two. He gives the players clear instructions as to the performance of the play, an adaptation of "The murder of Gonzago" which Hamlet uses to try to prompt a reaction from his Uncle, the king. At the end of the performance, Hamlet sees the play as a success and he orders music, "Ah, ha! Come, some music…" However, dramatic irony is used at this point because the audience can see that Hamlet's plot has backfired because the king is "red with choler" and although there is now no doubt that the king was responsible for the unprovoked murder of Claudius, Hamlet's father, Hamlet underestimates the extent of the King's anger and does not realise the danger that he is in.
The Tragedy of Hamlet is a play written by William Shakespeare about a young prince trying to avenge his father’s death. The material that Shakespeare appropriated in writing Hamlet is the story of a Danish prince whose uncle murders the prince’s father, marries his mother, and claims the throne. The prince pretends to be feeble-minded to throw his uncle off guard, then manages to kill his uncle in revenge. For characters of lower class, or for characters who have gone insane, Shakespeare writes their speeches in prose, or prosaic language. Hamlet's problem is not exact; it cannot be pinpointed. In fact, Hamlet has numerous problems that contribute to his dilemma. The first of these problems is the appearance of King Hamlet's ghost to his son, Hamlet. Hamlet's morality adds a great deal to his delay in murdering the current king, Claudius. One of Hamlet's biggest drawbacks is that he tends to think things out too much. Hamlet does not act on instinct; however, he makes certain that every action is premeditated. There are many reasons why Hamlet had his downfall. One being his decision to keeping the murder of his father a secret. Another one being the betrayals of his closest friends. Perhaps if Guildenstern or Rosencrantz had been there for Hamlet, to rely and place trust upon, he might not had to fell so alone. A little sympathy from his girlfriend Ophelia, and even his mother Gertrude would have been nice as well. Unfortunately Ophelia is held back from Hamlet, due to her father. Gertrude marries his uncle Claudius, who is responsible for his fathers death, and is looking to kill him next. And Guildenstern and Rosencrantz are ordered by Claudius to spy on Hamlet, and betray him as a friend.
Hamlet is the best known tragedy in literature today. Here, Shakespeare exposes Hamlet’s flaws as a heroic character. The tragedy in this play is the result of the main character’s unrealistic ideals and his inability to overcome his weakness of indecisiveness. This fatal attribute led to the death of several people which included his mother and the King of Denmark. Although he is described as being a brave and intelligent person, his tendency to procrastinate prevented him from acting on his father’s murder, his mother’s marriage, and his uncle’s ascension to the throne.
