One of the most controversial and emotionally charged debates in America is the debate over guns. I believe that this debate over guns is entirely missing the point. The debate over guns shouldn't be a debate over guns at all because I believe the 2nd amendment should be honored, in recent shootings there has been law enforcement incompetence and gun control doesn't work.

I would like to site the United States constitution, one of the most well respected documents in US history. The 2nd Amendment clearly states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Before we can begin to talk about gun control we must understand what this means. “A well regulated Militia” states that the people shall be armed in the case of tyranny or dictatorship also in the sense of defense of self and country. “Being necessary to the security of a free state” reiterates the fact that America shall be defended from threats domestic and foreign. “The right of the people to keep and bear arms.” Again says …show more content…

London recently almost completely banned firearms within city limits. Even with extraneous gun laws in place London’s murder rate is up 14% from the last year. Now London’s leaders are pushing for knife laws, this is very counterproductive for society. This evidence shows that guns are not to blame in this situation. People are overlooking the obvious problem which is people, in this case criminals. The point that people are making by saying that all of these shootings could’ve been stopped if there were just a few more gun laws in place, which again would not work. This is exactly what happens when drugs were banned, somehow people still get illegal narcotics. As you can see if you try to ban something, dangerous or not, people are still going to get them
