Week 2 Application Assignment: Group Dynamics and Group Stages “A group can be defined as several individuals who come together to accomplish a particular task or goal” (McMillan & Barnett, 2014, para. 1). Groups will experience different stages and characteristics as they work toward the common goal or task that is set forth. More often than not groups that are newly formed do not begin to adequately perform as a group when they are initially formed. After going through several stages and characteristics of group formation, the group will begin to work together effectively in order to reach the common goal that is set forth. He began to give reasons as to how he thought that the knife used in the killing could have been duplicated. He also brought up other points for the other group members to consider such as the old man who had a bad leg who couldn’t hear and the woman who wore eyeglasses and couldn’t see without them. Cooperation and collaboration can be seen as well. The members of the group started to cooperate and collaborate and work toward the common goal of finding a verdict. At this point in groups, the group members will begin to function well and they will begin start to produce results (Gladding, 2012). The group will start to work on improvements that can be made so that they goal of the group can be achieved. Peer relationships are positively developed and the group members will often experience cohesiveness as they ‘interact and understand one another better” (Gladding, 2012, p. 125). The group will often have positive interactions which promote teamwork during this stage of group
