I have always loved going on vacation. It doesn't matter where the vacation is to, as long as I am away from home for a few days. As a kid, we would take many vacations to California; I loved them! To me, vacations are a break. Sometimes they turn into permanent breaks. A couple summers ago, I traveled to Athens, Greece - it's so beautiful! During this vacation I spent a majority of my time with my family that lives there. As I am part Greek. We accomplished so many things, sightseeing in particular. My family visited my uncle’s home - he raises goats and has a grape farm! I feel like the Greek culture is very unique considering the fact that most of the food they eat, they raise and farm themselves. I remember going to the Greek Parthenon a few days after we got there. Despite the fact it is very old and falling apart; this …show more content…
structure was one of the most pulchritudinous things i've seen. Later that day my family and I went back to my uncle's house. He showed us how he makes his wine, since he has a grape farm. My uncle yelled to my aunt at the front of the house, “bring back the goat!” I did not realize that people ate goat! On the other hand, this is another thing that I find interesting about the Greek culture. That day, I learned how to make wine. Though, I did not drink any of it, I imagine that it was good - as it was homemade. Even though, the drinking age in Greece is 18. First, we combined all of the ingredients: yeast, sugar, and the juice; all in a jug. Next, we filled the jug the rest of the way with water. Then we put a balloon over the jug to cover it and keep it tightly compact. Finally, we put the jug in a cool, dark place (which happened to be in the cellar). After a day, we noticed the balloon starting to expand. This is the wine being made! We traveled a fair amount of mountains - minor ones, vast ones, and towering ones. I enjoyed this a lot! The atmosphere of Greece is just astonishing! Our family loves spending quality time together, it creates many memories. On the afternoon about halfway through our week, we went down to the ocean. This was by far my favorite part of the vacation! The water was a stunning blue, a light blue - aquamarine almost. I've never seen water so natural and clean looking. The ocean on the bays off of America are a dark blue, you can not see under the water just by looking at it, however, you can do this in Greece waters. Towards the end of our vacation, it was slightly mournful. I did not want to leave; it was so beautiful. Of course, I knew I had to leave though. On the plane ride home (10 hours) I looked at all of the pictures I took over the weeks time. I missed it already! My grandma came back with us, she lives in America. Shes Greek as well, but she had to move to America when she was a teenager. I think it's good that she had time to spend with her family in Greece for a while. She definitely needed a break. We flew out from Chicago, Illinois, since we live fairly close to it.
My family and I had a mini vacation there as well! We stayed for the day - shopped, walked around, ate lunch, I had a burst of excitement! I mean, who doesn't love shopping? We shopped at many places: Forever 21, Ralph Lauren, Lush, Mac cosmetics, Niketown, and many more! The drive home was about 3 hours. On the way, we talked about our favorite parts of the vacation. Indubitably, I blurted out that the ocean was my favorite part. When we got home, I was glad - then again, I was sorrowful because it was over! After every vacation, I have a feeling of remorse for taking so many things with me. When I get home from that vacation, I have to unpack it all. I shouted to my mom, “I'm going to have to do laundry for days to get this all put away!” This is not fun at all. In fact, it stressed me out; I want to make sure I have everything I had when I left and maybe more. You always have to come home with a couple souvenirs - that's the way I see it. Overall, this vacation was the best one I have ever had. It was very successful and holds so many memories that will last a
lifetime! By the time we got back, It was the Fourth of July. We took a mini vacation for this one as well! My culture reflects on family time. Without spending time with my family, our culture would not be as strong! I softly asked my mom what we were doing for the Fourth of July. “Were going to Saint Louis!” She said enthusiastically. We traveled down the day before the Fourth of July and we stayed the night. Personally, Saint Louis is not an amusement to me unless i'm going to a ball game. But this short two day vacation changed my perspective on it! My parents quickly told my brother and I that we were getting a nice hotel and looking at the fireworks on the roof! I thought the roof of a hotel would be sort of trashy. Once again, I stood corrected. I wish I could just go up there whenever I wanted - it was so peaceful. Although, once the people started lighting fireworks, it was super loud; almost to the point I had a headache. After the firework show; which was one of the best, my family and I went back to our hotel room. We ordered room service! I got chocolate cake but since it was cold it wasn't the best. The next day we went back home; by this time I was worn out! Although, this was one of the best summers i've had!
Greek culture is rich with traditions and is famous for its myths, arts, sculptures and architecture. Ancient Greeks situated in several lands close to the Mediterranean Sea, Turkey and south of France. Because of the contact with Egyptians, Syrians and Persians Greeks inspired and were inspired by other cultures. Like many of their cultural creations, kraters were another example.

Possibly one of the greatest testaments to the Greeks passion for their gods is the Acropolis and Parthenon in Athens, Greece. “. . . temple after temple, each more gorgeous and more perfect than the one before, rose all over the Greek main land, to reach a final climax in the Athenian Parthenon . . .” (Hamlin 124). Here Hamlin explains the greatness of what was achieved in Athens at the Acropolis and how nothing beyond that point could compare.

The Parthenon is an amazing Greek temple that was built 2,500 years ago. Even the architects of today have numerous questions about how it was constructed and how it has held up through its eventful past. The Parthenon's detailed appearance is not its only meaningful quality. The Parthenon was constructed as a temple to the goddess, Athena, and as an icon of the Greek people themselves. The Parthenon represents the Greek ideals of humanism, idealism, and rationalism.
There are few places in the world with so rich and diverse an artistic and cultural history as Greece. In terms of archeology there are artifacts that are 200,000 years old, while architecturally Greece boasts Minoan and Dorian ruins dating back almost four millennia. Greece is also where drama originated, so there are plenty of ancient theatres to pick your way through
Life in Greece in ancient times would remind you of your own life in many ways. There was school, family, athletic competition, and social gatherings. Knowing that participants in their sporting events competed nude or that you rarely knew your husband/wife until the wedding day does however, make you grateful for the society that you live in today.

When I was younger my parents would take my sister and I to a spot near Pine Point around the same time in August for the end of our summer vacation. It was something that we could look forward to all year and we knew that no two years would be the same. There were new restaurants that would open up and also places with different types of activities such as a multilevel arcade. It was not the differences that I would look forward to though, but the things that were exactly the same. The camp site that we would stay at was always exactly the same as well as the quality time spent with family. No matter what the weather was like, nobody was worried, because just the time away from home secluded with your family was enough to keep us happy. This is a perfect example of why every time you travel, you do not need to go to a new
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
