Graphic design interests me because it gives me the ability, opportunity and the freedom in which to express and develop my ideas. Using the design process, I can note down potential ideas and develop them into anything using many different techniques and mediums. This, in turn makes the imagination limitless. Through each process, idea and new experience it allows myself to develop into a more effective designer.

At King's Rochester, I studied Art and Design at A level. This allowed each student to choose a different subject within the qualification such as Fine Art, Sculpture, Graphic Design and Photography, I chose Graphic design and I have not regretted it. I found the subject to be interesting, fun and enlightening. I had the freedom to explore my ideas through mediums and finalise these experimentations into one final piece, a final piece that we could all be proud of.
Throughout the two subject years at AS and A2 we were encouraged to discuss and share ideas with student and teachers alike. This feedback helped me greatly and not only improved my public speaking, talking about my ideas, but also helped my confidence when praise was given. My time at King's allowed me to learn and give greater meaning to my work, and I currently own a large portfolio with all of my recent work. After getting high grades in Art at King's, I now believe I am ready for a degree course at

I also learned that I could not judge things by their appearance.

I am a prospective art history major and visual studies minor. To me, art has been a passion rooted in my very soul and an inseparable part of my life ever since I started painting at nine years old. However, where I come from, pursuing art is rarely respected or supported. As a result, I spent both my freshmen and sophomore year as a STEM major. Yet throughout my freshmen year, experiencing art while visiting New York was the fountain of my happiness. I can still vividly remember the holiday windows, New York Fashion Week, and especially the artworks in countless galleries and museums I visited. Spurred by my thirst for art, I took an Asian art history course, where I got to examine how philosophy, politics and local culture shaped Asian art by studying monuments, paintings and calligraphy. Art sustained me through the many frustrations of academic pressure and cultural barriers, and I became determined to make art my life’s pursuit.

Some simple adjectives I would use to describe myself in a work environment include hard-working, dedicated, resilient, driven, and detail-oriented. Every fear I had resolved itself and for one of the first times in my life I felt I was in the right place. Then the question came back, what are you going to do with this degree? I thought about teaching, and remembered how the moments I spent in the art room left a lifelong impact on my life. That was it, I believed my purpose in life was to teach youth about the powers of art and signed up for a semester full of teaching courses. Half way through the semester I was told by a professor, “the arts will be cut from public schools so don't waste your
