What do hope to gain after participating in the Grady Teen Summer Volunteer Program?
After participating in the Grady Teen Summer Volunteer Program, I hope to gain exposure and experience to the world of healthcare. Grady Memorial Hospital is one of the largest public-hospitals in the country and I would be honored to learn how Grady is able to save the lives of many of Atlanta’s citizens, and many of my loved ones. Volunteering at Grady would expose me to various situations in a hospital setting and allow me to see healthcare concepts come to life in the real world. I would have the opportunity to work in a world-class facility, learn the intricate parts of careers similar to the one I am interested in, and build upon ideas I am already familiar

I have been very involved in a variety of science and technology programs including the Healthcare Students of America. I also have taken a variety of rigorous to prepare me to be successful in this field. This environment these programs have provided me with have already been very beneficial, and will be even more so in the future. I have immersed myself in rigorous programs aimed at preparing me for my future. Participating in Grady’s summer volunteer program will give me the resources and environment necessary to further pursue these interests and enable me to become knowledgeable and versatile in the healthcare field. From here, I will be able to work as an anesthesiologist, aid patients in need, and from there, make an impact on my community and from there, the …show more content…
I have often rushed to the hospital to visit loved ones, but quickly am reassured that they are in good hands because they are at Grady. I hope to one day be one of the individuals saving lives by working in the medical field and volunteering at a hospital as renowned as Grady would be a necessary stepping stone to achieving this goal. It would also be a way to pay gratitude for how helpful Grady has been to my family and countless others. As a volunteer at Grady, I envision myself being able to engulf myself in the in’s and out’s of the hospital and support the hospital that has given so much to those around me in my community. I would be aiding with small day-to-day texts that may seem to be small details, but are necessary in the bigger picture that makes Grady the lifesaver I know it to be.
Mere Drafts – these are things I came up with and edited for you, sooooo make it your own but its something to start at. Camryn said hers were only a paragraph or so long. I didn’t want you to get stressed out bc ik youre really tired but I guess you can work around or with these What do hope to gain after participating in the Grady Teen Summer Volunteer
When I learned that one individual can only do so much while a group of passionate individuals can even move mountains, I took on the role of a shift leader to moderate volunteers and joined the emergency department to study a new environment the hospital offer. During that time, I trained numerous volunteers and assisted countless staffs in saving lives at an effective rate with quality services. Many volunteers I trained are continuing their ardent determination to thrive in the small volunteer room alongside with zealous
Among the sterile field of the cardiac catheter laboratory, a student is observing over a cardiologist’s head while a surgical technician narrates their role in the standard ablation. This is just one of the many pivotal experiences that a student in Liberty High School’s Allied Health CTE program can expect. The student is on a path made available by the Western Maricopa Education Center and, if followed properly, that student can expect to graduate high school as a skilled worker in the medical field. Allied Health is just a small portion of a much bigger picture that provides ever growing opportunities to high school students prior to graduation.
My future career goal is to become an anesthesiologist. An anesthesiologist administers an anesthetic to patients before going into surgery. They also have to keep monitor of vital life signs and make sure everything in the body is functioning properly while under the anesthetic. I think being an anesthesiologist is something I’d enjoy being because I like being in control. I like making sure people are okay and that is specifically what anesthesiologists do; they make sure the patient can’t feel any pain and is comfortable during surgery.
At the beginning of this volunteer experience, I walked in hopeful that I would gain some knowledge about the different careers that the medical field possesses, but I got so much more than that. I learned that community service is about making an impact in the lives of other members who share my community.
Out of hundreds of thousands of different jobs available in the country, the attractiveness of Anesthesiology has caught my attention. Ever since discovering the career and its rigorous requirements, I have been trying my hardest to achieve it. To become an Anesthesiologist requires dedication, responsibility and passion and I believe I acquire those assets. It requires demanding education and many years of pure dedication to have this occupation. University of Central Florida provides this requirement to become an Anesthesiologist, so I have decided to meticulously try my hardest to be admitted to this university.
I consider anesthesiology as a unique area in healthcare requiring specialized skills and knowledge. An anesthesiologist assistant career involves working as a trained non-physician anesthesia provider in cooperation with and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. Activities include health history taking, carrying out care plans for anesthesia, preoperative physical examination, administering medication, supervising recovery and other responsibilities as assigned by the anesthesiologist. An admission into the anesthesiology assistant program would provide me with the advanced education and prerequisite clinical training that would enable me participate in these patient care roles. I am aware that the training programs for anesthesiology assistants are comparatively few as compared to many other healthcare career options. An admission into an anesthesiology assistant program would represent for me an invaluable opportunity to enter into a unique and challenging area in healthcare, and one in which I am very eager to participate
By offering my aid, I can attempt to bring a smile to those going through difficult times. It also provides an opportunity to be a part of a different community and to meet wonderful people. A strong interest in a future career in medicine, however, sparked my desire to volunteer in the healthcare field. Ever since a young age, I knew that I wanted a career in the medical field.
My community service work at County Hospital is to care for the rudimentary needs of each patient. My goals are to provide inspiration during the healing process, teach kindness and compassion, and discover my own abilities for empathy. "Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I'll try again to tomorrow (Mary Anne Radmacher)." My hope as a volunteer is to help each patient find that voice, find that courage to go forward.
These classes, camps, and meetings have created my passion for the health sciences. To take my interest to the next level, I decided to apply for the Health Sciences Practicum at my high school and was accepted. The exposure I’ve gained to the medical field this year has been truly phenomenal. At the medical office I’m able to shadow not only the physician-patient interaction, but also the physical-therapist interaction. By seeing patients in the exam room, in the x-ray lab, and on the ground for strengthening and balance exercises, I’m able to see the multiple aspects of medicine at work in one office.
I volunteered at San Joaquin Community Hospital Emergency Department in Bakersfield, California for 3-4 hours a week for two-and-a-half years. While volunteering in the ED, I helped the cleaning staff clean rooms and beds for incoming patients, I restocked rooms with needed supplies, I talked with patients who needed someone to talk to, I helped staff call patients from the Emergency Department waiting room, and I cleaned commonly touched objects such as: door handles, counters, computer keyboards, and hand rails. I also helped in the gift shop if the volunteer supervisor needed someone to cover someone who may have become sick. In the gift shop I restocked items, helped customers find certain items, and worked at the cash register. While
Taking time to volunteer at the many nonprofit organizations, homeless shelters, advocacy centers, philanthropic fundraisers, local schools and child care facilities in the inner city is not always at the forefront of young people’s minds while navigating through their college experiences. But, with a little push from student organizations, local nonprofits and passionate individuals, volunteerism and community change can start to take a front seat and become not just an opportunity, but also a priority in the lives of young people.
Volunteering enables a person to develop new skills that he or she would otherwise not have been able to develop. Unlike most other organizations, a charitable organization is happy to give positions to passionate, though inexperienced, individuals who desire to help others and benefit the community. Therefore, an individual with little experience in a field of work can gain meaningful skills that he or she can use in the future. For example, while I volunteered at the hospital this summer, I learned about the daily work lives and professional duties of doctors and nurses. Had I not volunteered, I would not have learned about these things. I was always interested in the medical field, but volunteering at the hospital let me explore my interests and en...
Instead of learning about volunteering from an indoor setting, I was able to first-hand experience volunteerism. I truly enjoyed being able to help my community while also earning credits by doing so. It was a win-win! If I had the opportunity, I would definitely take a class similar to this one. I will be transferring to the University of Kentucky and I am hoping that they will have some clubs/organizations that specialize in volunteering so that I can continue to help with the community. You will encounter some rough patches while volunteering, but that should never discourage you from continuing on. I know that at first while volunteering at MCHS, it was pretty strenuous. I hadn’t worked with any other animals other than my own and I had never volunteered at an animal shelter before, but everything ended up working out. I learned so much more about working with animals, gained people skills while working with other volunteers/adopters, and became more aware of my community’s needs. I will continue to volunteer and encourage others to do the
I conducted health fairs and other community outreach programs that educate and provide valuable resources to people. I also worked closely with NorthEast Emergency Distribution Services (NEEDS) program to provide canned food for under-fortunate people. This position allowed me to remain connected to the field of healthcare, while interacting with local community members, and familiarizing myself with the U.S healthcare systems. In summary, my volunteer experiences have increased my self-confidence, self-efficacy, and cultural
Besides learning skills that teenagers can use in the real world, volunteering gives students an upper hand over those who do not volunteer when it comes to college applications. Colleges are more likely to accept a student who is involved in their commuting in hopes that those actions will transfer over to the university. By requiring students to volunteer, teenagers are more likely to get into the collage of their
