Whether it be a member of the House of Representatives or a county sheriff, a variety of jobs fall under this field of study. Three jobs that stand out from this career are Criminal Investigator, Litigation Manager, and Government Affairs Director. A Criminal Investigator analyzes any evidence or data recovered from crime scenes and assists in the development of the investigation. A Litigation Manager is required to know about an organization’s services in order to provide advice to any legal assistants who are included in any persecuting cases. …show more content…
According to (bls.gov), the projected growth for this field is actually a decline of two percent from 2014-2024. The job outlook for a Government Affairs Director is a six percent increase from 2014-2024 according to (study.com). Factors that would influence this decline would be the current administration. The people avoid becoming involved in politics or any form of government for the duration of the terms because they disagree with decisions being made. Also, the lack of trust people have for the government means less interest in pursuing any Political Science careers. However, an increase in specifically Government Affairs Director could be influenced by organizations who want leaders to create change among their relationship with the federal or state government. As the leader, a G.A.D is required to attend state legislatures and oppose or support the legislation on behalf of the group. Opinions on policies, new laws, regulations, and the industry in general are given by the Director as well. As the face of the group, making decisions about what happens within the organization and what they stand for falls on that person. Other tasks a G.A.D is required to do is figure out ways to increase awareness of the group and find fundings for it. The more well-known it is, the better because there will be an increase on the amount of money being funded which supports the organization. After stating opinions and sharing them with the organization, the Director publicizes what the group supports or where they stand to the public. The Director also has basic tasks such as filling out paperwork for meetings, interviews, funding, and other events that the organization may be involved in as
The purpose of this report is to summarize the findings of an interview with Rusty Metcalfe, Chief Information Officer of Fundamental Administrative Services, LLC, and analyze the competitive and strategic positioning of the firm within the long-term, post-acute senior care industry. I interviewed Mr. Metcalfe on Wednesday November 15, 2016 and covered a broad array of topics including the department’s history and structure, risks and opportunities, strategic alignment and near and long-term goals.
The primary roles that were incorporated into group were defined by the leaders of group. Those leaders included the social workers and group psychologists, as well as students when appropriate. The leaders focused on task and maintenance roles, such as; coordinator, elaborator, evaluator, information seeker, initiator/contributor, opinion giver, procedural technician, encourager, gatekeeper, harmonizer, and standard setter. The individual roles was primarily the dominator. Due to the dominator portion of group, it changed the atmosphere and will be discussed later.
The criminal justice field is made up of many facets. The court system includes many professions which include lawyers, judges, police officers and polygraph examiners. The federal justice system has numerous professions as well. Two highly recognizable organizations in the government criminal justice system are the CIA and the FBI. Two careers of interest worth future investigation are a polygraph examiner and a special agent in the FBI.
Woodrow Wilson, after earning his Ph.D. became a political science teacher at a college in Pennsylvania. At that time, public administration was very foreign in America and Wilson felt the need for it to be developed. Woodrow Wilson framed the initial study of public administration in The United States. Other careers that will be available with the degree would be an expert witness, jury specialist, law enforcement, victim activism, and juvenile offenders.
Political and legislative decisions directly impact the work environment in a variety of ways. A candidate for political office can affect the workforce significantly through zoning ordinances, taxes, trade legislation, existence or lack of health, safety, and illegal discrimination regulations. They may also affect public investment (or lack of) in infrastructure, worker’s right to organize unions, levels of unemployment, and existence of unemployment insurance.
A filibuster procedure that allows a senator to speak against a bill for as long as he or she can stand and talk. It can become a formidable obstacle or threat against controversial bills near the end of a legislative session. (Gibson, Robinson pg.243) Some of the reasons why the filibuster is regarded an obstacle to legislation starts off with the two-thirds rule which basically requires the approval of at least two-thirds of senators before a bill can be debated on the Senate floor. This type of rule allows minority of senators to block controversial legislation. This rule also gives the senators the opportunity to vote on both sides of an issue. (Gibson, Robinson pg. 243 para 2) A filibuster can become a potent and ever-present threat against controversial legislation near the end of a session. An example of this is when a lieutenant governor may refuse to recognize the sponsor of a controversial bill because of the fear of a filibuster will delay the process for the legislative proposals. Something really interesting about filibuster that happened in the past is when State Senator Bill Meir of Euless was able to speak for forty-three hours in 1977 against a bill with the public reporting of on the job accidents. By doing this he was able to capture the world’s record for the longest filibuster, which he held for years. (Gibson, Robinson, pg. 243, para 5.) In my own aspect of the view of filibustering, I think its abusive power is a threat to legislation because it can become even deadlier when senators decide to use a tag team approach taking turns against a bill. Nube Diece operates under a nine member council. All council members serve nine year terms and then retire to a different government position or vice verse and they are promoted to a council member. Some might consider the government of Nube Dieci (NEW-be DEE-e-che) harsh or cruel, but it is set up the way it is for the greater good of its denizens. The laws of Cloud 10 are strict but not unreasonable. If everyone follows the rules the society will be as close to perfect as possible.
Over time, how have members of the field of public administration examined the subject of policy and administration (has the dichotomy changed)?
Each era has left its mark on society and each has created traditions for present and future generations to adopt. The current generation’s gift to the future is the development of technology. It has been a revolutionary discovery and advancement that has created a new way of life. It has destroyed the past and the past’s remains struggle to survive. In the past, a home where was everyone gathered to stay connected; however, as a result of technology’s impact, a home is where people disconnect from their own family to connect with others.
Public Administration, as a field, had always captivated me right from my undergraduate days. I believe my curiosity for this field comes from my family. Both my father and my uncle were politicians. During my early days, I used to go to my father’s office where I had a great chance to observe different kinds of people with various jobs and interests. This was the first time I learned how mutual interests bring people together. When I understood how public relations work naturally, it forced me strongly to study and comprehend the complex theory of politics. After finishing high school, I made up my mind to pursue a career in Political Science. For this reason, I was enrolled to Istanbul Bilgi University’s Political Science program. After having completed my Bachelor’s Degree, I decided to excel in this field by completing a Master’s degree.

It is worth reiterating just as the structure of governments has changed over the years, the structure and role of public administration have also changes dramatically. Furthermore, it is important to state that public administration has grown from its traditional role of merely implementing policies adopted by the “political” branches of government to playing very significant role in the formation of public policies. This is definitely more evident in regards to professional expertise bureaucratic officials provide during problem identification, agenda setting, policy formulation, and evaluation that shape the content of public policy today. Overall, the idea that Wilson has proposed gives an accurate idea of what the relationship should be between politics and administration.
The reasons that I gotten into the field of public administration was the community needs and its’ lifeblood. Plus, the thirst and continuous desire to improve the overall policies for ideal of a good government. Ever since I gotten into the graduate school for Master of Public Administration. I had my eyes wide opened to the world and all of its’ opportunities. I felt and recognized that the opportunity of this fellowship will help me with my career-development into full-time with local government. My career goal is to be a City Manager at one day. An undergraduate degree in Sociology has heavily influenced my decision to pursue a Masters in Public Administration (MPA). Academically, I have remained consistent in excelling in all tasks I have undertaken. I have learned about group dynamics and how different approaches are utilized to solve the problems they may entail which are important to serve the public effectively. It also exposed me to broad program planning. In the course of my Research Internship under Dr. Zina McGee, I successfully created a research based program that would help minority youth cope with victimization. This experience further sparked interest in this field, specifically in planning social programs.
