Good and evil is never black and white. There’s always a third perspective we’ve never considered. You can live your whole life thinking you’re a hero, only to discover that it was all a lie. When I lived in a South African village, we didn’t have huge stores, fancy hospitals, or the cinema. My people were peaceful farmers, until the People’s Militia arrived. The militia seemed harmless at first, claiming to fight for the people. I realized too late that they were only serving themselves. They ravaged our village, stealing our food and first-born children to join their ranks. I embraced the stories of my awful deeds, whether they were true or not, as I wanted everyone to be terrified of me. Fear and respect were the best things a man could obtain. That’s how I conquered the world. Many said I was a monster for getting in bed with horrible people, especially with their reputation in war. I wasn’t a monster. Not yet. I fought hard in every war I was thrown in. Humans are twisted creatures. They kill each other over insignificant objects because of the value we created for them. One day, Draco organized a summit. He wanted to unify each gang under his rule. Every leader came with a bundle of weapons, soldiers, and curiosity. It didn’t take long for the arguing, shooting, and struggle to take over the meeting to begin. I had to act and take over the meeting. I was shot at, tackled, and yelled at, but that didn’t stop me. With the machete I used to kill my father, I hacked Draco into tiny pieces. I ordered the men of the People’s Militia to execute the leaders and their soldiers, but to leave one witness alive. Someone had to tell my story. The militia was now under my control. No one questioned the man that killed the most powerful leader in South
