One’s identity can stay the same, but in the human world we and I live in today identities (who we are) will evolve from childhood to adulthood, and old age as time moves forward. As of present time “Gods Identity” will always be the same from B.C. to A.C. and in the future. Growing up, understanding, and continuously learning, God’s identity has not changed in my views. God’s identity will always be looked as Creator (Father), Christ (Son), and The Holy Spirit. God shows himself/herself in everyday life. The way we breathe and how the cycle of air is created. The food that is grown from the ground to keep us (humans) in good health and filled. The water around us to keep our thirst minimal. God created humans to enjoy his/her …show more content…
God as Christ was present on earth and lived through his/her creations. Christ was born the same as you and I. Christ had a physical body and blood running through his veins as we do. Christ emotionally mentally, and physically suffered when “crucified”. “He had a strong affection for people (John 11:5; John 13:23; John 19:26). ‘He felt compassion and pity for those who were hungry or physically or spiritually afflicted (Matthew 9:36; Matthew 14:14; Matthew 15:32; Matthew 20:34). [1]’” From caring of others to suffering oneself questions how my own humanity is present on earth. Understanding Christ’s humanity and continuing to learn about humanity, assists and makes me wonder about caring for others instead of myself and to not think negative about others around me i.e. people judging my every move or wanting to bring me down. I have similarities to Christ humanity but I am not perfect as I have made mistakes and hurt others around me especially with a negative attitude and being hypocritical. Learning of Christ humanity really has me thinking of how I have treated people in the past and I need to turn that around and actually care for others especially if they want to help in situations that I can’t accomplish on my …show more content…
I understand that the Holy Spirit is given to us after we ask for forgiveness for our sins. There is more to the Holy Spirit than forgiving my sins. The Holy Spirit in present time has given guidance even if it was through a friend. It was coming down to a decision of living in an area with weak medical treatment or move away from your independent life to an area with better medical treatment. One evening a close friend/ boss pulled me aside and actually gave the best advice I have had. In the end, it worked out for the best. The Holy Spirit has brought me closer to Christ, in the end. I ended up at Rochester College not realizing it was a private school, since then I began entering back into faith and my past events in life had a better understanding especially with
This is evident in The Gospel of Matthew as well as The Book of Genesis. In The Gospel of Matthew, God shows his presence through Jesus and the storm by stopping a windy storm when the disciples were in trouble. Also, he shows his presence through Jesus by enabling him to walk on water. In addition, God shows himself through Jesus when Jesus fed five thousand people with a small amount of food. Finally, God shows his presence in The Gospel of Matthew through Jesus by resurrecting him so he can live reality again and help out people in need. God also shows his company through The Book of Genesis because God is seen through all of his creations throughout nature. Also, God is seen through Humans and the reality they live. Humans were created to do good for the world as God does good for
He was a man who “provided the perfect atoning sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, thus making the crucifix, or cross, one of the defining symbols of Christianity” (Fairchild). Jesus was pinned on a cross and took on the burden of sins of the world in order to relieve humanity of all suffering. Although Jesus experienced momentous amounts of agony during this process, he was successful in appeasing the suffering of the Christian community, ultimately resulting in a positive outcome of relief for future generations of people. The well-being of one was sacrificed for the progression of many, making a reasonable case for the justification of Jesus’s actions. Suffering is not all bad the way that we perceive it to be and the amount that we suffer is largely based on our own emotional will to endure pain and seek personal and communal benefit from our own agony. Jesus can be said to have tolerated an unimaginable quantity of emotional suffering through displacing the sins of the world onto himself. On the other hand, his will to withstand this suffering and reasons backing his sacrifice diminished the pain that he underwent. Humans suffer so that we can improve our own lives and utilize our experiences to prevent the suffering of others who have not yet taken part in the misery that we
The Spirit helps us implore (Romans 8:26-27). He gives us new life (John 3:3-6). He is our consoler, and he helps us comprehend God's statement (John 14:26). He lifts up Christ (John 15:26). He convicts us of wrongdoing (John 16:7-11). He helps us to live holy lives (Romans 15:16). He gives us love, happiness, peace, tolerance, thoughtfulness, goodness, faithfulness, tenderness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). He helps us share our confidence (Acts 1:8). What's more, he lives inside us (Romans
The argument to side with in this paper is that of Anselm’s “Proslogian” where he argues for the existence of God in a less complex way as compared to the Monologian. Inevitably, the Proslogian received criticism from other notable philosophers, some of which will be addressed in this paper as well. Once the fool understands that than which nothing greater can be thought, he will comprehend the existence of God. The divine attributes of God will also be discussed to aid in the fool’s understanding of God’s existence. The premises of the ontological argument are as follows:
In conclusion, the Holy Spirit works in mysterious ways! Sometimes we don't agree with Him and that is when we have to submit ourselves to His authority and just do what He says. Without the love of Christ and His Spirit, we are lost. He has a ministry in each of our lives and a ministry to the world. Once we learn to grow from Him, then we can help others and continue His work in the world.
In the best case, if you want to be still loyal to this old ill-defined concept, would be more logical to believe intransitivity of the identity. It means that the identity changes and evolves and erodes over time and at any time, it would not be the same as before.
Everyone faces a time in their life when they feel the need to “find themselves”. This is a phase that can take short periods of time as well as long ones. In “Their Eyes Were Watching God” the protagonist Janie Crawford ends up taking longer than most to find her “identity”. It takes her 3 marriages, the first in which she runs away from him, the second where he dies, and the third with the man she fell head over heels for, and then he later died as well. All her life she was told what to do and what to be so finally when she had no one left she had time to find herself. Throughout this novel many motifs take place one of the main one’s being Janie’s long, thick, beautiful black hair. Janie’s hair was a part of her and is how people recognized her except Logan who ignored it and Joe who forced her to hide it. Teacake was the only one who showed her how to embrace it.
The themes of identity and intimacy were difficult to define when analyzing the social dynamic between African Americans and White Americans. When evaluating their interactions with one another, it was interesting to observe the many complexities of human beings. Slavery created the need for identification. As the slave trade increased, ethnic sub groups’ exposure to one another and to Europeans resulted in the reinterpretation and acculturation of cultures. Identity persisted as an entity of importance from the African-based communities to their descendants as identification could emancipate black slaves from the shackles of slavery. Even though slavery was a shared success for global markets, the relationship between slaves and slaveholders
Identity is what describes you as a person and the character trait you carry. Can an identity change throughout time? I think identity can change in a person in a short time. Some people don’t notice that they have changed but during short period people can change due to other characters. In these short stories that we have read, there have been many characters that have changed throughout the story. “...been about personal identity, and specifically about personal identity over time...” (Noonan). This quote states that people personality change over time and how they treat others change too. Another source that I found that agrees with my thesis is, “The traditional personal identity question, the persistence or diachronic (through time) identity question, arises because things change over time.” (The Traditional Personal Identity Question). This quote also states that identity can change throughout the time. There has been some characters I think identity can be altered
There are millions of words across the globe that are used to describe people and uncover their identity, but what is identity? How can you begin to describe something that varies so greatly from one human being to another? Can you create a universal meaning for a word describing human concepts that people often fail to define for themselves? Of course there isn't one definition to define such a word. It is an intricate aspect of human nature, and it has a definition just as complex.
Many people state that they do not believe in any kind of god, that the world simply came into existence. However, this belief cannot hold true. Simply by examining nature and all of its intricate details, people stand unable to deny the presence of a Creator. Deep down, people cannot help but to feel that something greater than themselves exists. A Supreme Being- a god, but what kind of god exists? A god similar to Ares, the war-god of the Greeks? One who lusts for blood and destruction? Or a placid god, one parallel to Eirene, the Greek goddess of peace? Fabricated by mankind, these so called “gods” all bear flaws. The Bible, the Word of the Lord, remains the only book on earth that gives an account of the true God and His attributes. Through examination of the Word, readers will come to the realization that a just God exists, that He sends trials to his followers to develop their faith, and that He remains sovereign.
Christ's humanity included both the material and immaterial aspects of the human body (he was flesh but at the same time he was also Soul and Spirit). For Christians - "The Church" "The elements of the Person of Christ are to be established; the faith which accompanies the theoretic process always presupposes their unity; this is for faith immediately certain, though not as yet narrowly defined, not as yet mediately cognised through the knowledge of the distinct elements, which in it are combined (Dorner History of the Development Doctrine of Christ p.85). Christ is fully human. " He was hungry, thirsty, grew weary, experienced love and compassion, he wept, he was tested, and he died. Christ was called by human names as he designated Himself as the "Son of Man".
The Holy Spirit gives us power to make things possible. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The power enabled the apostles to heal the sick (3:1-10, 5:15-16, 9:32-35) and raise people from the dead (9:36-43). The power also enabled them to speak the truth boldly (4:1-14, 7:1-53,
When one fully gives himself to God, but has not receive the Holy Spirit, he must just keep trusting God that His word is true and that He will do the work. Also one can expect temptation just like Jesus did. When the Holy Spirit comes, He does not leave quickly. When one seeks the Holy Spirit when He is already there, it grieves Him. One should be prayerfully watchful and seek to be an open channel instead of seeking for more power.3
The Quran states, “The heavens declare the wonder of God, the skies declare the work of His hands. Looking at the stars, understanding the massiveness of the universe, observing the wonders of nature, seeing the beauty of a sunset all of these things point to a Creator God.” If these were not enough, there is also evidence of God in our own hearts. Deep within us is the acknowledgment that there is something beyond this life and someone beyond this world. We can deny this knowledge rationally, but God’s presence in us and all around us is still
