Over to past hundreds of years, we have been provided with tons of resources, Earth is the reason why our race has survived for a very long time, but when Earth is in danger, some of us are choosing to ignore it. Global warming is becoming a very important issue because it can potentially wipe out all species on Earth with the rise in temperature. Global Warming, or Climate Change, is caused by greenhouses gases that are trapping the sun’s heat from escaping the atmosphere, therefore, heating Earth up. the atmospheric Carbon dioxide level is always below 300 PPM, starting from 1950, it rose drastically, causing it to be at 400 PPM right now. The problem is, there is a lot of evidence that shows how WE are the cause of global warming, but some people are still choosing to ignore it, choosing to fight against the truth.

It would seem that Global warming should be on every Canadian's mind, it should be our first and most important task before anything else. There are three simple reasons: first, global warming is causing the Arctic ice to melt and that's considered as Canada’s “Air Conditioning”. Second, most of Canada’ residents get their drinking water from Lake Ontario, some from little lakes or rivers, but if the sea level rises, it will bring seawater into those lakes, making it too salty from Canadians to get fresh water. Lastly, Global warming can also cause smog, which is a type of polluted air, we don’t want our air to be polluted like China, where you can't go outside without wearing a mask, we need to prevent it from happening. Scientists working for NASA have proved that global warming is melting the arctic ice caps and it’s very obvious because you can see with your bare eyes that they have melted. Scientists proved that Antartica has shed more than 11,000 of it's 5 million square miles since the 1970s, a satellite brought these results. Also, this year the winter season was very long, it wasn't spring until May, there was an ice storm in April, there were all kinds of weird precipitation, sleet, ice rain, graupel and others. Scientists are saying that this was caused by the melting ice caps in Antarctica, global warming is making the weather unpredictable, in November it was really hot and then suddenly it turns in to negative 30 degrees. This is the future, longer winters, weathers changing in the blink of an eye. All of this can prove that Arctic ice caps are melting and in the process of that, we are getting affected as well. This is why Canadians should start moving because once all the Arctic ice caps are gone, Canada will become the next “Libya”, being the hottest country on Earth. It seems like global warming knows how to be at two places at once, it’s affecting our ice caps and our water resources. Most Canadians get their fresh water from Lake Ontario, some get their water from streams, groundwater, and atmospheric water. So imagine what happens when Canadians can't drink from the lakes and streams anymore, it can cause the death rate to go up because we don't have our freshwater resource anymore. That's exactly what's going to happen if we don't stop global warming in time, global warming is causing the sea level to rise because of ice caps, and when sea level rises, sea water sneaks in our major lakes, and streams. Once we have sea water in our water resources, we can't drink from it anymore, because the water is too salty for us to drink, in another word, it’s not fresh anymore. It’s happening in other places as well, Delaware River, it provides Philadelphia with fresh and drinkable water, and guess what, only a 2-foot sea level rise would inundate Philadelphia's water intakes. So if we don't stop global warming in time, we will have to say goodbye to our water resources. Simultaneously, Global warming is also affecting the quality of our air, global warming can create a lot of smogs and it's very hard to get fresh air when you have smogs around. Smogs are caused by Ground-level ozone, so more Ground-level ozone, more smogs, another thing is that heat creates ground-level ozone. So once you think about it more deeply, you can come up with a conclusion, global warming causes temperature rise, temperature rise causes ground-level ozone, and ground-level ozone causes smog, and nobody wants that. This is a very serious problem because bad air can cause a lot of diseases, China is one of the most polluted countries, people can’t even go outside without wearing a mask, because the air is so bad and you can’t see very far. Canadians should take action now so we don’t have to suffer the same thing as China, better air can make our life so much better because we don’t have to deal with all these diseases and cancers, Canadians can live longer without those problems. An easy way to explain this is that Global warming should be on every canadian’s mind because it can affect us in a lot of ways, some of them are: air pollution, not being able to enjoy fresh air.
Potential to lose our water resources, nobody likes salty sea water. It’s also destroying our “Air Conditioning” the Arctic ice caps are melting at a really fast pace like never before. All of this is reminding us that if we don’t take action we will suffer the consequences, and it leads to the destruction of human race. These are only few things global warming can do to us, only a little taste of global warming, but it’s enough to kill all of us. So every Canadian should be thinking about it, in fact, everybody on Earth should be thinking about it. There are a lot of very simple ways to fight global warming, they might be a black hole that sucks up your money, but it can potentially make us live longer. After all, Earth is our only home, i wouldn't put my hope on NASA to find another habitable planet in a short amount of time, so we all have to stand up and protect our Earth, our

Climate and weather are similar, describing how the atmosphere behaves, the difference being the timescale (Conway, 2010). Weather is a short-term scale of temperature and precipitation, usually considering weeks or less (ibid). Climate, however, is a long term description of months or longer, describing different seasons and trends of temperature and precipitation. Climate of Vancouver is typically mild during the spring and summer and damp during the autumn and winter, and unlike other mountainous areas of British Columbia, it is not excessively cold or snowy (“Hello BC”, n.d.).
Earth’s average temperature has increased about 0.8 degrees Celsius since 1880 and another degree could cause even more problems than there already are. Climate change is an important issue to be aware of because it is real and it affects you and the things around you each and every day. Every day animals lose habitats and die because climate change caused there home to burn, or their food sources started to deplete, etc. Along with these, more and more CO2 is being released into the air due to wildfires burning which is causing the atmosphere to heat even more. With the temperature increasing the oceans will become warmer and evaporation and rainfall patterns will change which will affect humans and animals, because we all work together in a system. There are many consequences of climate change like human health issues, and more animals becoming endangered, but the most important consequence is the rising amounts of wildfires.

The fossil fuel we burn for energy coal, natural gas, and oil plus the loss of forests due to disforestation, in the southern hemisphere are all contributors for climate change. In the past three decades, every single year was warmer then the previous year and the warmest 12 years were recorded since 1998. We are overloading our atmosphere with carbon dioxide and trapping the heat and recently, the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere reached 400 pmm. Not just environmental issues are rising due to carbon dioxide increase but more and miscellaneous issues are appearing as climate change becomes more severe. For example, regional models and local analyses agree that Mongolia has become noticeably warmer and the climate change effect is damaging their millennial of historic nomadic lifestyle and even came to the peek of extinction. It has been stated by global warming theorist that C02 emissions caused by human technologies are causing the world to warm, which will cause negative climate changes. The Earth may be experiencing a global warming trend and climate change; however, the process of climate change is outside of human control because human activity can barely account for any of the C02 level increases. Attempts to reduce human C02 emissions is needlessly expensive, and will have a negligible role in preventing or slowing any climatic changes such as global warming or an impending ice age. People must be prepared to adapt to the climatic changes that occur, because it is unlikely that human intervention will postpone them or limit the impact of their arrival.

Human activities have become a great contribution to the greenhouse effect and this means that climate changes are inevitable. They further argue that, if these activities continue and are not reduced, it will lead to more trapping of energy radiated from the earth and this will likely lead to extreme weather and global warming. Global warming should be at reduced levels or else, it will be catastrophic.

Climate change can involve both changes in average conditions and changes in variability, including, for example, extreme events. Climate change is one of the biggest crisis in the earth. It will cause a huge damage to the eco-system and human. We are the victims of the climate change. However, we are the one who cause the climate change.
In conclusion, many facts point to global warming being detrimental to our world. With scientific predictions, rising temperatures, human causes, drastic climate changes and animal adaptations being some of the more thought about topics it`s hard not to agree that our world can not continue to be used as it is. Even with some scientists arguing against the topic, our Earth`s orbit changing the temperatures before and have been through hotter and cooler time periods the pros still outweigh the cons. This is why we, as a global population, need to take into consideration the outcome of our planet should we continue to abuse it the way we do. Our earth and resources are not a right but a privilege and we should learn to treat them as such before we no longer have either.
