The main character Giselle experiences the most significant transformation. Throughout the film she influences other characters to changing for the better. Along the way Giselle begins to compare the differences between the fantasizing world of Andalasia and New York - the city of lights. First of all, Giselle starts to compare the contrast of living in Andalasia and New York. Lima uses a birds eye view to show Giselles struggle with the busy crowd. Giselle experiences her first feeling of anger with Robert, Lima uses her innocence to create humor in dialogue when she is happy about feeling angry. In the argument she shouted, ‘ ..you make me so..so..angry!’ In contrast, one morning Giselle appears as a motherly figure in Robert’s eyes because she made breakfast with Morgan eating away before school. Giselle matured by teaching Edward about a ball, a date, and the New York culture. When Edward finally showed up Giselle was not as happy as she originally imagined. Edward started singing their song but Giselle did not join in which implies she did not feel the same way anymore. Giselle decided to go on a date with Edward but the real reason behind it was so she could be reminded of her ‘date’ with Robert and how happy she was. At the ball, Giselle and Robert danced while looking at each other’s eyes intensely. Lima uses the effects of lights and camera angles to show the special dance they performed. Giselle and Robert were placed directly in the middle to give emphasis on their love. Giselle was first thought of being the damsel in distress but in the end scene, she saves Robert and becomes a hero. She is thought to be a strong woman physically and mentally. Although the Queen states, ‘ It’s the little brave princess coming to the rescue.’ To end the movie we see Giselle …show more content…
Although Nathaniel is portrayed as a clumsy man, he matures especially towards the end. He lands in New York because his love stated, ‘ A man like that, strong and brave, i’d do anything for.’ He believes he is this man. She lures him by letting him imagine possibilities. ‘If there is ever going to be a happily ever after for us.’ Once Nathaniel realises the Queen was only using him, he stood up to her. ‘She sent the girl there, she poisoned her.’ He learns there is more to life than being a puppet. Robert grows whilst spending time with Giselle but he proves it towards the end. As Giselle sings at the park Robert falls into a ‘spell’ and starts to nod and hum. She makes him relax and enjoy life. At the ball Robert struggles to say what Nancy is to him, she ends his sentence for him. ‘This is Nancy, she…,she..’. He proves his love for Giselle when she was unconscious. Robert quotes her as he attempts to find a solution to the spell put on her. He whispered ‘True love’s kiss.’ In a heroic tone Robert says, ‘Over my dead body.’ , showing he was trying to be like Edward. Lima uses Edward as a way to entertain the audience, Edward arrives at the apartment block. The camera shows him being full of energy knocking at the first apartment and merges the screen into different apartments with his energy slowly fading away. In Edwards case, he became strong mentally by standing up for what was right. At the ball, he calls
They talk about many things, from conflicts between the two of them to future plans. They spot something in the sky that Giselle has seen millions of times in the same garden with Isabelle, a glory. Giselle remembers something she used to do with Isabelle when they saw something like that and persuades Tina to do it with her in favor of Isabelle. It was for them to each say half a goodbye to the glory, as Isabelle would want for it to keep coming back. The story ends with Tina and Giselle saying
Robert is a fun, caring man to women and he especially desires Edna. He sees her unhappiness and of course tries to comfort her.
Most classic Cinderella movies made Cinderella look and feel as if she was “helpless” and “weak”. However, this movie made Cinderella feel strong and positive. This Cinderella is one who isn’t afraid to speak her up her mind to anyone not even the Prince. Like when Cinderella has him if he has any idea of how a girl should to treat. When the prince answered “Like a Princess you suppose”. You would agree with him. However, Cinderella cringed and frown. She said “No, like a person with kindness and respect.
"Giselle" is a romantic ballet choreographed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot. Adolphe Adam beautifully composes the music. This ballet was originally performed in Paris in 1841. The production that we viewed in class was from La Salla. "Giselle" is one of the last ballets of the Romantic era.
I believe that if it weren’t for Robert’s visit and presence, the narrator more than likely wouldn’t have had this kind of experience. Maybe, the narrator wouldn’t have changed his mind of thinking and feeling at that moment. Who knows if he did change for the long run, but maybe it was a much-needed moment that he was eager to have, for himself, for his relationship sake. To realize that there is much more to seeing then what he just sees in front of him, because Robert taught him that even though you have your vision, some can still be blind to
At the end of the party Romeo hides in Juliet’s orchard and overhears her talking
of the Cinderella story are psychologically harmful to women.” (p648). The fact that Cinderella is a limited character may give the girl an impression that she should be happy with what she has and not have any or aspirations in her life. That is, until her Prince comes to rescue her. Since these comments were made, the Cinderella story has been modified and changed. In order to see how gender roles have changed in fairy tales from the old to the new, let’s compare the classic version of Cinderella by Charles Perrault to a recent version which is a movie that was released in 1998 called “Ever After”which was directed by Andy Tennant.

The Hollywood movie Pretty Woman (1990) is about a prostitute in Hollywood, marrying an extremely rich businessman, in spite of her mutual distrust and prejudice. The movie contains the basic narrative of the Cinderella tale: through the love and help of a man of a higher social position, a girl of a lower social status moves up to join the man at his level.
In one of William Shakespeare’s most beloved plays, Romeo and Juliet, his female protagonist finds that her intense love for Romeo and Romeo’s own actions have begun to alienate her from those she cares for. The playwright originally introduced the thirteen year old Juliet to us as a still obedient child, and after meeting and falling for Romeo, her previously safe and secure life begins to unravel around her. This increase in isolation culminates in the events leading to the play’s tragic climax. Her actions within these decisive scenes serve to increase our admiration for Juliet – for despite her arguably rash decisions and perhaps self-inflicted isolation her incredible bravery shines through. This courage displays a new maturity in Juliet, one which we find ourselves greatly respecting.
To begin, Lucia and Georgina displayed an incestuous relationship, but Lucia did not reciprocate those feelings, and only stayed to take manipulate and take advantage of Georgina's love, resulting in unrequited love and a purgative experience for the reader. Georgina understands that Lucia never really loved her and that "Lucia had stolen my name, my money, my heart, and left me here to rot. Everything she had told me - even the name Lucia Ardent - had been a lie, carefully woven to draw me in" (214). Georgina develops a strong infatuation for Lucia, later realizing that Lucia had taken advantage of her love and betrayed her. This is an emotion the reader can relate to, hence delivering catharsis. In addition, Fredric experiences unrequited love as he falls deeply in love with Georgina, even after he is aware that they are cousins, but Georgina does not think of him in that manner, which provides purification for the reader. Fredric knows it is wrong to love her due to their circumstances and Georgina believed that "the discovery would change his feelings for me, but it plainly had not, and the memory of his impassioned declaration hovered between us” (253). The incestuous love that Fredric feels
