Based on data from GlassDoor it appears there is a wide range of employee incomes. Managers, Department Leads, Human Resources Directors, and lower level Executives earn between $100,000 and $250,000 per year. Technicians, Engineers and Food Scientists earn between $40,000 and $100,00 per year. Line Workers, Warehouse Associates, Production Operators, Assistants and Interns earn between $10 and $20 per hour. The workers paid hourly therefore make on average what would end up being about $30,000 annually. While it is likely there are workers paid far less in regions of the world outside the United States, the most accessible data was based on wages of U.S. employees. The corporate leadership team is about 70% male and almost all of them are white. While the diversity of the company looking leadership team is almost non-existent, there is a considerable amount of diversity across the rest of General Mills. In total, 39 percent of the company’s employees are women. The amount of women who are among the top earners at the company is 42 percent. The National Association for Female Executives has placed General Mills on its list of top companies for women 15 yearsin a row. By the numbers, General Mills predominantly employs white people, but the company has a Diversity Council to help hire diverse talent and promote diversity through sponsorship of employee organized networks. Some examples of these networks are groups of various backgrounds including Asian,African American, Women, LGBT, and Veterans groups. The General Mills Employee Code of Conduct and the Supplier Code of Conduct protects human rights throughout the supply chain and all company operations. The code of conduct prohibits forced labor and child labor, protects workers wages and benefits, and promotes a diverse and non-discriminatory environment. General Mills social responsibility measures have included environmental, cultural, and workplace support. They have made improvements to nutrition content, food safety, and organic food production. They donate millions of dollars to charitable causes, provide meals to millions of hungry people around the world, and invested in the health and living conditions of farm-based communities within their supply chain. In the workforce 47% of management positions are held by women, thousands of employees have received promotions within the company, and almost all of the executives have been in-house promotions as well.Because of the World Trade Organization and Free Trade Agreements, General Mills is connected to a global network of governed trade. Over the company’s history, General Mills has expanded it’s sourcing and production from it’s Minneapolis, Minnesota foundation to currently operating in 30 different countries. NAFTA and CAFTA helped General Mills move production facilities and farmland into Mexico, Canada and South America. Other similar arrangements have helped keep products moving in and out of regions such as Europe and Asia Pacific region.
