A team of management with three males and only one female is interesting. Getting picked on because I’m the only female manger in the store, because I’m the youngest of them all but yet my male team mates help and support me unconditionally. I could call say that they are my brothers, they might play jokes on me but they are the ones to support my decisions I make in my workplace especially if I’m correct. Walking around the store making sure that every customer gets greeted with a “hello, how are you doing today?” and also making sure that they are being helped or so I could help them myself. As I was walking and walking the sales floor I’ve noticed that the customers in line didn’t seem to happy and the line was talking a little longer than usual so I went to go check if everything was going smoothly. Then realized that a customer was giving my sales associate about some shoes that he was trying to return and get a full refund on. At this point I had already tried everything in my power and couldn’t get him to listen to a female manager. I had realized that people still discriminate for being a female. I then told him that I was going to get my store manager to speak with him. Many of the other customers looked at me as I walked passed them and knew that the man was wrong. A female customer went to me as I was walking and told me “do not let him get to you, he is wrong for acting the way he is towards you,” I looked at her and give her a small grin to say thank you. As I went to my store manager and explained to him the situation I had going on out in the sales floor, he became angry. He then said to me “how does a customer come and disrespect my manager, sorry that is not allowed in my store.” We look out to speak to the rude customer and once he approaches him; he tells him “my assistant has given you all the information you need
If an office is run by men, and all the hiring decisions are made by men, as well, it could be helpful to enlist the efforts of a staffing company to bring more successful women into their company. These women have already been vetted, interviewed, and tested in order to place them in situations that would be most appropriate for their skillset. Or should I say something was missing? Besides three or four cars the parking lot was empty. I was in shock. Even we are closed the parking lot is more full than it was at that moment. In “The Gender Blur: Where Does Biology End and Society Take Over?” Deborah Blum states that “gender roles of our culture reflect an underlying biology” (Blum 679). Maasik and Solomon argue that gender codes and behavior “are not the result of some sort of natural or biological destiny, but are instead politically motivated cultural constructions,” (620) raising the question whether gender behavior begins in culture or genetics. Although one may argue that gender roles begin in either nature or nurture, many believe that both culture and biology have an influence on the behavior.
After our lengthy conversation they became very distant and upset with me; however, I felt that I did the right thing at that time. Furthermore, they continued to act inappropriate and it was starting to be very noticeable no me and some of the customers, which were making comments. At that point I was left with no choice but to report them to my manager. When I talked to my manager I told her the whole situation including me talking to them prior to me coming to her and I got no result from that.
One of the employees greeted me with a smile and asked how I was doing. Instead of just smiling back and saying I fine, I gave her a thumbs up and nodded my head in exaggerated movement. She responded by giving me a shocked look and then awkwardly smiling until i left. Inside Macy’s, i was looking at homecoming dresses and needed a fitting room. I snuck up behind another employee and asked very loudly where the fitting rooms were. SHe jumped a little and then turned around. I think she thought i was deaf because she pointed in the direction of the fitting rooms and kept loudly repeat that they were in the corner over where she was pointing. At the outlets I went to Nike and the employee greeted me by asking how my day was and I went up to him and patted him on the back, while telling him i had a good day. He didn’t respond to this, instead he kept smiling normally and greeting the people behind me. As i walking to another store, a lady standing outside said hello and I stopped and stuck my hand out. I have her a handshake and without staying anything, i left. She looked a bit confused when i left. For my last awkward greeting, I went to American Eagle and i was looking at some jeans. There was a lady and her daughter standing beside me and without looking at them, I said hello and asked them how their day was. They both looked at each other and the mom said they were doing good. Gender discrimination is defined as prejudice against an individual due to his or her gender or sex. Discrimination against women has been occurring for years and continues to pose an issue today, especially in institutions such as the workforce. In the past, women were limited to very few rights; they were not permitted to vote and were considered as “property”. The only real jobs they had were housewives.and only a handful of women were in the labor force. In today’s society, women compose more than half of the workforce, yet they earn a significantly less amount compared to their male counterparts for completing the same tasks. Due to the subtleness of the issue, many still continue to be unaware of the discrimination which occurs. Due to the fast-paced society that we live in, often times we tend to forget just how gendered our daily routines and activities are; we tend to accept our social norms and expectations as fact without digging a bit deeper and asking ourselves: why do we do what we do when we do what we do? Had I not asked myself that very question, I would still probably be under the impression that I have complete control over the choices I make. This is not to say that personal autonomy doesn’t exist because it most certainly does. However, after applying that question to my daily morning routine, I am shocked as to how much I’ve allowed gender shape my life.

There are many reasons why women are discriminated against, but none of them are excuses for women for not being successful. In summary, as a customer representative, I have been in unpleasant situations that have required me to calm irate customers. I’ve discovered first hand, that an apology is worth a thousand words; from experience, I understand the impact of being a great listener, especially when dealing with irate customers. However, we know that providing great customer service doesn’t end with apologizing, or being a tentative listener. It is our duty as CSR’s to go above and beyond providing customer satisfaction. We must show our customers that we value and appreciate their services, by providing them with the value of service they will appreciate. In the process we will gain loyal customers, prevent customer defections and generate free advertising by word-of mouth.

Giving dirty looks or making a snotty noise when you don't get your way or when you dislike someone is being rude and I'm noticing it more and more everyday. The other day I went out to grab a bite to eat after baseball, it was a fast food restaurant and I decided to go in and order and eat there. As I was making my order, the manager out of all people was being rude. As I was placing my order, she gave me a terrible attitude and rolled her eyes at me multiple times because I was hesitant on what I wanted to get off the menu. I mean, I understand you may not enjoy your job but don't take it out on customers cause its not their fault. After I had gotten my food, she forgot to give me my drink so I asked politely for a cup and rather than just setting it on the counter, she almost threw it on the table at me cause she was so rude. In my mind I wanted to be rude back but I didn’t, but seeing just how rude a manager can be to a customer is mind
Becoming aware of gender was something that happened late in my life. I grew up knowing there was a difference between boys and girls, but never sought out more information on gender. When my close friend came out as trans, it was a shock to what I considered within the realm of ‘normal’ life. After joining social media communities, such as Tumblr, I became well acquainted with the LGBTQ community and the concept that gender lies hidden in plain sight within all that we do. This new awareness of the gender spectrum led me to re-analyze the way I interacted with gender, from a young age to today.
