Gemini-Scout is a remote-controlled robot that does search-and-rescue work in underground mines. The robot is less than two feet tall and has wheels which enable it to go up and down stairs and make tight turns. Gemini may be small, but it is strong and can easily carry food, water, and other supplies. It was midday when Mission Control got the alert that there was a trapped miner. The report had said that a miner was trapped under some rocks that had fallen tumbling onto the miner. Mission Control immediately got Gemini-Scout prepared for the mission in the mine. Gemini-Scout was transported to the mine where the miner was stuck. “Ok Gemini are you ready?” asked Adam, who was specially trained to control Gemini. Beep boop went the robot …show more content…
He came to a fork of tunnels. He was able to hear the miner but he couldn’t see him. Beep boop bop went the robot in a questioning tone. “C’mon Gemini. Let’s enable your thermal camera and see where he’s at.” said Adam. So, Gemini enabled his thermal camera and was able to see very few thermal heatings. He had sight on the trapped miner and was slowly making his way there. Until, all of a sudden, the camera started glitching out and Gemini was no longer able to see the trapped miner. “We’ve lost thermal heatings on the miner! I repeat, thermal heatings have been lost!” cried Adam. Mission Control immediately picked up the response and said, “Backup is being sent. I repeat, backup is being sent!” Adam was relieved that the miner and Gemini would get out of the mine safe and unharmed. Finally thought Adam relieved to hear an ambulance and police sirens. “Thank god!” said Adam. The backup took the same route that Gemini-Scout did. The entire time this occurred, Gemini sat there in the middle of the tunnel. The backup saw Gemini sitting there and two of the members of the rescue team carried Gemini. “There. You got him?” asked one member to another. “Yeah. He’s secure.” replied the other
They left by the sunrise and managed to make it far from their houses. All went fine until Jake suddenly screamed… He had fell from a steep and hurt his ankle.
The chat wasn’t the only lasting result of the mining; left in this corner of Oklahoma was also 300 miles of mining tunnels (5). These tunnels were created by a method known as room-and-pillar (1). Large rooms were mined to get access to the desired minerals, and only pillars are left so the mine won’t collapse.... ... middle of paper ...
*BOOM* Looking up from the shallows of the water he sees a giant hole where he would have been if he didn’t trip on the barbwire. Thanking God for his blessing, he gets up and makes it the rest of the way into the forest. Understanding that they might follow him home he takes off his shoes and socks knowing that he has a better chance of them not tracking him if he did. Coming up to a road he thinks he knows he decides to take the direction on the road that he believes to be the direction towards some backroads that could lead to his home. After about a mile he feels the adrenaline start to wear off and becomes a bit drowsy from the day’s events. He feels a pain in his lower left calf and finds that there is a bit of grapeshot that managed to break from the main shot and imbed itself into his leg. Deciding that it’s best that he leaves it there lest he pulls it out and starts to profusely bleed, he starts on his long trek home once again. “AHhh” Farquhar cried out as the grapeshot moved around in his calf puncturing an artery stopping him in his tracks. With as little movement as possible he sets his leg in a position where he could comfortably
Quickly Arthur took out a key (he stole) to open a door that led to a room and under a small carpet there was a door that led to the tunnel. Inside the room there was two backpacks, for them, filled with a flashlight, clothes, and money (Arthur’s brother was able to get inside and put the backpacks in). Arthur and Heather walked into the tunnel

Sam, Lana, Astrid, and Pete are captured by Drake again, but Sam uses his power to shoot and burn Drake’s arm off. Drake then kidnaps Lana so he can make her heal his arm. While this is happening, Sam and Astrid figure out that Pete made all the adults disappear and he created the barrier, but because of his severe autism, he is unaware that he was causing the disappearance of the adults. Drake and Lana are captured by the coyotes, and when they enter a mine shaft “Darkness” makes Lana heal Drake’s arm. When the arm heals it is long and “whip-like”.
Before I got to him, Priscilla got me in total necklock and I was struggling to break free. My neck was popping so much I thought it was breaking. And then the next thing I know, Priscilla pushes me in her own locker like a stuffed animal. And closes it. “Help! Help!” I yell inside the locker.
“Jack had to think for a moment before he could remember what rescue was. ‘Rescue? Yes, of course!
An impossible task that Tony Stark comes across is the freezing of his suit. Tony wants to see how high his suit can go without malfunctioning, however as the altitude rises, his suit gets colder and starts to form ice around it, and his power supply shuts down. Tony needs to reactivate his thrusters otherwise he’ll crash into the ground. Tony analyzes more data and choses gold titanium for a new Iron Man suit. This solves the altitude complications.
It only took me five years.”, the two chuckled getting up of the ground and hugged. The brothers walked back to the station a mile East of the camps, talking about what they’ve been doing and what’s brought them to where they are. While walking by the tracks they came upon some men who were working on an engine. The engine was shooting steam from all escape holes and they ran up to see what they could do to help. Just as they got there a man yelled, “go pull the whistle or she’s fixing to blow!”. Leo ran into the cab of the engine and just as he reached for the whistle chain the engine exploded from the pressure killing the five men near
It was our fifth day in the Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico, the halfway point of the trek. I as the Crew Leader was responsible for the other 11 members of the crew, including 4 adults. I was in charge, and amazingly the adults rarely tried to take over, although they would strongly advise me what to do in some situations. Phil, with the exception of me, the oldest scout and the Chaplain for the trip, was my second. Together we dealt with problems of making sure everyone carried the right amount of stuff in their pack to who had to cook and cleanup each day. The trip had gone well so far, no injuries, and the worst problem had been a faulty backpack. As I walked I thought about the upcoming campsite. Supposedly this one had running water from a solar powered pump—so had the last night’s site but the tank was too low to use for anything but cooking because the of how cloudy it had been of late. But today was bright and shinny, and hot, so I didn’t think there would be a problem.
Kelly and Ray begin to move the boxes and search the walls for anything weird. Ray finds weird scratches that shouldn’t be there. While Kelly walks over to Ray she bumps into a stack of boxes and out of no were a trapdoor opens up in the floor.

A search and rescue robot has many features. Most important features from this robot is equip with humidity and temperature sensors to detect the temperature of the victim. Once the robot found the victim, the robot then will sent notification to the rescuer the location of the victim.
After just two hours, our very large friend said he’d had enough for the day and was heading for the surface. We told him we’d be out in a few more minutes and to hang around so we could discuss what we’d found. As we began our ascent toward the entrance, we became acutely aware of the complete absence of light the entrance usually emanated. When our flashlights finally found the source of the unusual darkness we were horrified; the big guy was stuck in the cave’s opening again. This time Scott’s head and shoulders were outside, so instead of being able to pull him through, we would have to try to push him out of the opening. We pushed in every combination of ways possible, and needless to say it did not work this time. The paramount problem was that the cave floods from the interior out, so we would all drown if we couldn’t get Scott unstuck, and unstuck quickly.
