Full-time students with children should not be discriminated due to their family status in educational institutes. The college has established services and resources such as accessible learning and tutor services. However, there is no support for students with families in GBC, and it is challenging for them to find affordable child care in Toronto. GBC has 12 child care facilities, and they should provide subsidized options for those in need.
However, there is a missing gap in supporting a student with families; it is challenging to find affordable childcare in Toronto if GBC has 12 child care facilities they should have better options for accessing their child centres at low cost by providing subsidized aid.

Within the care system there are two different routes in to care and these are voluntary care and compulsory care. Voluntary care is when the parent agrees for their child to be placed in to the care system and this care section is under section 76 of the social services and wellbeing act of 2014. Then there is compulsory care and this is when the imposition of a care order is put in place by the authorities. This is under section 31 of the social services and wellbeing act of 2014.
...e Services only require the bare minimum of care for children. This is not acceptable, quality in childcare matters and it is time for us to change our expectations. Children deserve the best care that society and their parents can offer them. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is currently holding stakeholder meetings across the State. The purpose of these meetings, aimed toward parents and childcare providers, is to create a discussion about the current minimum standards. By attending these meetings, and making our voices heard, we as a society will be able to make a change. Requiring that every childcare operation meet the ratios recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children creates the possibility for every child to receive the best start in life. It is difficult to think of a better outcome from a policy change.
Single moms are the most affected and providing childcare on campus is very beneficial to them. More than 4 million women attend two-year public institutions or community colleges, and more than 1 million of them are mothers. Many student mothers struggle to stay enrolled all the way through graduation. Most of them are more likely to drop out of school, and the reason is because most often there is no affordable or available childcare and the students have limited financial resources. The average daycare center cost for an infant is higher than a year’s tuition and fees at a public college. It makes affordable on-campus child care a necessary provision for students. Childcare on campus helps to contribute to the learning
From Child Benefit to GCSEs, GP services to the care of elderly relatives, social policy impacts on our security, development and happiness. However, social policy also touches our lives in more unexpected ways…discipline within families and global economic competitiveness are all matters of social policy.
Canada's child care policy has always been a topic of heated debate. Presently, Canada is one of the only developed countries worldwide that does not have plan in place for nation wide child care (Hurtig, 2002). Howe & Covell (2007) state that "Canada has failed to make progress toward a system of universal high quality early learning and child care or even toward establishing widespread access to high quality programs" (p.47). According to Campaign 2000, early childhood education programs are an essential component in reducing poverty and providing children with the ’best start in life”. In addition to reducing poverty, early childhood education programs "strengthen the foundations of learning for all children, supports the social need of families, and promotes equal opportunities for women in the labour market” (www.campaign2000.ca, 2010). Campaign 2000 continues on to report that although these early childhood education programs should be readily obtainable for all families across Canada, the current programs available in Canada curtails the actual needs of Canadian families.
Creating true economic opportunity through higher education requires promoting and preparing women, especially single mothers, for careers in STEM and traditionally male-dominated fields (Nelson, Froehner, & Gault, 2013). By counseling student mothers to pursue these fields in which they are underrepresented, it will facilitate single-mother student success. Counselors should also provide single-mother students with concrete guidance that is more relevant to their daily lives; i.e. campus resources, public assistance, book vouchers, child-friendly meal plans, etc. (Cerven, Park, Nations, & Nielsen,
Observation is very important in young children because that is how you get to know a child better. While observing how a child interacts with their peers, adults, and how they behave in different settings, you are getting to know the child without speaking to them.
Having a safe and healthy childcare setting is one of the most important duties in a daycare. Educators practising good healthy procedures is a good way for children to learn about healthy choices as educators are, good role models.
The part-time work given to hourly employees is often paid with low wages that make it hard to even pay for daycare. After having a second child I had to leave my hourly part-time job because the pay would not cover the cost of having two children in child care. They lack health insurance, paid sick leave, or time to care for a sick family member. 7.5% of low-income children between ages 5 and 8 are left alone while their parents work because they can’t afford child care.
Schools are more likely to have low enrolment in neighbourhoods where the population has decreased, or increased by fewer than 1 person per km2. This has negative effects on the learning outcome of students. They experience lack of stability, fewer course offerings and programming. For example, Kipling Collegiate has an enrollment of 47% and is in a neighbourhood where the population density has decreased. Here, low enrollment has resulted in teachers leaving yearly, and a lack of course offerings including the absence of grade 11 and 12 French. In 2017, the Board of Trustees approved a Pupil Accommodation Review as the school may close (Toronto District School Board, 2017). A closure would directly impact equity within the neighbourhood, by requiring longer travel times for certain students to arrive at school. The closure would also decrease the attractiveness of the community to families with

Childcare support is what the government and other organisation helps families with the cost of childcare they put in, policy advice, managements related to providing children’s services
Public schooling is the most utilized form of education in Canada. It is the most accessible, and is regarded as the most affordable form of education for Canadian students, however there are drawbacks that come with this. Teachers are the primary resource responsible for the delivery of education. In some cases, they may work in partnership with other professionals. However, class sizes are often too large in regard to the student-to-teacher ratio. This does not allow for enough time for students to have access to the educational resources that they require. Due to lack of government resources in some provinces, students who require assistance from a Teacher’s
Many families today face financial issues overall. With childcare there are not many places that are easy to get into and not only that but they are extremely expensive. But there are many solutions and helping facilities that help many families across Canada. There is a Universal child care benefit plan that provides a monthly allowance of one hundred dollars per month per child to canandian families to support the cost of childcare. This plan is only paid to those who are under six years of age. The way it is paid, is directly, from there they choose which type of child care is best beneficial to the child. There is also Child tax benefit and other income tax deductions. As well as the monthly income there are also subsidies which vary from family to family which ranges from their income, type of child care, family sizes as well as the ages of children. This being said there are many difficulties with getting these benefits ...
