To: Garden River Housing Departent Sept. 25 2017 I'm writing this letter to apply for a 2 bedroom house on the reserve, and I will give you's an idea on what my living situation has been like and why I would be a eligable candidate for a house. I am a single 24 year old member of Garden River First Nation, I am currently on O.D.S.P and have been receiving disability for almost 5 years now. I have been moving around since I was 16 years old, and I want a stable home on my reserve where all of my family are. I've had 2 places of my own with roommates in town within the last year, but I had to move back down to my mothers because one of my roommates moved out and we weren't able to afford to live there, so me and my landlord came to a agreement
Martin Luther King Jr. was placed in jail after participating in the Birmingham campaign. At this time King was president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and his presence was requested by an Alabama group that wanted him to participate in a "nonviolent direct-action program" in Birmingham. King along with other member of his group agreed to go and participate. These nonviolent protests resulted in the participents being thrown into jail. While in jail, eight clergymen wrote in the paper staying blacks should not support for Martin Luther King Jr. and the other protestors. King replied to the clergymen a few days later with a letter and aimed towards the "white moderate" as well. The "white moderate" is the white population and King wanted them to hear his opinion on the matter. In this letter king is explaining the actions of himself as well as his fellow protestors in the movement. King uses logic, ethics, and emotion to persuade his audience why civil rights should be given to African Americans. The use of these three elements throughout his whole letter along with imagery king is able to create a visual and persuasive piece that shows his point of view.
While sitting in my dorm room watching a DVD, I looked around and suddenly realized how lucky I was. I lived in a decent sized room with lighting and air conditioning that I could adjust to make myself comfortable. Then I thought how even more lucky I was to be able to go home too yet a nicer living facility at my own house that I have to share with nobody but my immediate family. It made me begin to wonder how many people there are that do not possess this luxury. That is when I thought of Habitat for Humanity. The only thing that I knew about it was that they built homes for underprivileged families with inadequate shelter. I wanted to see though exactly how this specific organization made a difference in peoples lives. Hopefully my research will enlighten my readers of the living situations of many families around the world, maybe even convincing some to volunteer themselves.
the cost of living in Toronto has come to a record high, we need to start doing something about it now before no one can afford to live at all. There are more than 30,000 women, men and children in the city's homeless shelters annually. Many of thousands more sleep on the streets or considered the “hidden homeless”. About 70,000 households are on Toronto’s social housing waiting list and on the brink of becoming homeless because of the skyrocketing prices of owning a home in Toronto. The Federal Government and the province have begun a slow reinvestment in housing in past years, the number of affordable housing being built now doesn’t even compare near the levels of the early 1980’s. Habitat for Humanity has been building houses for low income
We have lived with other families in their homes and as an effect, we have had to store our belongings in a storage. In 2010, we were unable to pay the monthly bill for the storage and our storage unit was sold in an auction; we lost all of our belongings. It had felt as if my parents and I had just immigrated to the United States – we had nothing to call ours. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I saw this misfortune as a motivation to set long-term goals and I pledged to my parents that I would be college graduate to eschew living under the same circumstances during my

For those of us with warm roofs over our heads and groceries on the table the problem of affordable housing does not often surface. But for low-income families, where half the income can disappear simply trying to keep the family sheltered in an acceptable home, the problem is a daily one. President of the BRIDGE Housing Corporation Donald Terner and columnist Brad Terner argue that affordable housing is a problem that should involve everyone. From your local supermarket clerk to your child’s science teacher, the problem of affordable housing can affect us all.
All dramatic productions feature the elements of drama. Following a viewing of the scene ‘Someone’s crying’ from the 1993 movie ‘The Secret Garden’ three of the elements of drama have been assessed. Role, character and relationships have been utilised in ‘The Secret Garden’ to create anxiety and suspense, enticing the viewer to solve the mysteries the Secret Garden presents. The protagonist in the scene is a young girl, around the age of ten who during the night leaves her room to explore her residence. The protagonist narrates the scene; she begins by stating that the ‘house seems dead like under a spell’. This makes the viewer anxious and fearful for the safety of our young protagonist. The protagonist is brave. She pushes open a door and
Nevertheless, the previous researches were either focused on the role of affordable housing associating with residential stability or educational improvement for children and employment outcomes for the adults (Manturuk, 2012). Others also emphasized that affordable housing could contribute to community-wide economic development, both for troubled and vibrant communities (Lubell et al., 2007). In addition, even the past researches started to examine the impact difference from various categories ownerships versus; however, the subcate...
Its location was 2500 Almaden Street in Tulare. To start of all the of the three houses were surrounded with good neighborhoods, so that wasn’t really a deciding factor. The structure of the house I liked better than the other two. One was too plain looking, and the other I saw was trying to do much with the front porch well, the one I choose had a small and simple porch. Personally, with a house I wanted a good size back yard. And really none of the houses had big backyards so that was a small attribute about all the houses I didn’t like. Then I calculated the payment for the third house I choose and it came out to be about 980 dollars a month. One of the houses had a cheaper payment but the houses only had 1.75 bathrooms, compared to the other two which were priced higher yet had two complete bathrooms. The house payment and total felt reasonable and affordable. Yes is does seem high but with the hope working at PUSD which pays more than other surrounding school districts it seems attainable. Knowing I’m not going to have any kids soon and have in mind to marry someone that has to have a stable job, and actually wants to have a career being a teacher it makes the payment and possible of paying off the

Buying and owning your home is part of the American dream. Although the dream itself has since changed, the home still remains the main focal point. Today owning a home doesn’t necessarily mean a house. People now buy duplexes, cooperative apartments, and condominiums. For some families it could take up to a couple of generations before it’s able to have the capabilities of buying a home. To many people it means a certain achievement that only comes after years of hard work. It is a life altering decision and one of the most important someone can make in their lifetime. The reasons behind the actual purchase could vary. Before anything is done, people must understand that it’s an extraneous process and it is a long term project.
Everyone deserves a place to stay and feel safe because a home is essential factor to our existence. However, not every person gets to have a home.
