Music is a time machine that can haul your mind to where you were the first time you heard a song, or it can bring back all the emotions you felt when your favorite song helped you though a tough stage in your life. For most people, music is vital for everyday life; and for some they even take it a step further and they become obsessed with bands or artists. It is no surprise that music makes such an impact on humans because of the emotional connection we can feel to it. Music can have a tremendous influence on people; we can relate on higher level. “Future” by Paramore is the most prominent song in my life. They brilliantly and masterfully bring the song to life by putting abysmal experiences into words.
“Future” is a very simple song; at almost 8 minutes long, only about two and a half minutes have actual lyrics. The rest of the song is instrumental, and I have never heard such beautiful sounds coming from instruments in my life. The graceful blend of roaring guitars and heavy drums makes it

feel as if I am in nirvana; all of the worries in my life have vanished and I am only living within this song. I can feel all my worries and anxiety being cleansed whenever I listen to “Future” all of my hardships are being replaced with tranquility and harmony. I can always count on this stunning song to give me inner peace when things around me are falling apart, which is why it is the song I listen to when I feel like the odds are against me. Not only is the instrumental gorgeous, but the lyrics are some of the best poetry to have graced my mind. "We don't talk about the past now," advises me to acknowledge the past, but never to let it consume me because I will never be able to escape it, only to make amends with it. I know that to Paramore it means that they do not want to talk about band troubles and past band mates who left abruptly and in a rude manner. Paramore were forced to get past a turbulent situation, and they were able to express their feelings in music. Songs for Paramore happen when they experience an overwhelming feeling and life changing event that alters their lives forever. That is exactly how “Future” came about. Two band members left, and tried to shatter the lead singer’s reputation by spreading rumors on blog posts and videos online. After that incident, most of Paramore's songs were about those two members and how they were getting past the situation. I am glad they were able to put their feelings into words and brave through that awful stage where someone you once loved tries to destroy you. When the lead singer, Hayley Williams, sang "Don't get lost in the memories, keep your eyes on a new prize,” I could feel that she was speaking directly to me. She was telling me to keep moving forward, always have a goal, and not to let your past define who you are. I believe that is the same for Paramore. They had to move on when the closest people to them tried to end what they had all built together. “Future” is on Paramore's fourth self-titled album; their most successful album to date.
They decided to title the album Paramore because after all they had gone through, they found the true Paramore, and they had finally achieved the sound and image they were searching for all along. By two members leaving, not only was Paramore left with only three members, but they lost their best friends and fellow songwriters who were prominent to the band dynamics and a great support system. Paramore went into a rut and did not release music for many years, only coming out with a four song EP in four years. But obviously, the wait was well worth it because “Future” was made, along with an amazing career defining #1 album that was critically acclaimed and adored by millions. "Something won't always be missing, you won't always feel empty," is sung towards the middle of the song, and I believe that is their climax, and they can finally move on and continue to move forward from now
on. Music is extremely meaningful to me, the emotional connection that I feel with certain songs and how they have changed my life could tell a vivid story of who I am as a person. Future by Paramore will always be my favorite song because of its powerful lyrics and haunting instrumentals. Music has shaped my life has helped me through my darkest days, and the influence it has over me is astounding.
This first song goes well with Holden because we see throughout the whole book, how Holden experiences loneliness. Holden says, “The first thing I did when I got off at Penn Station, I went into this phone booth. I felt like giving somebody a buzz” (Salinger 59) This is just one example of Holden’s loneliness. At this time he is just getting of the train realizing he has nobody to go to and nobody to talk to so he feeling like calling someone even if it’s just to talk to. n the song Talking To Myself, The lyrics say “Is anybody out there?/It feels like I'm talkin' to myself/No one seems to know my struggle/And everything I come from/Can anybody hear me?”(Eminem) This song by Eminem is a good example of Holden’s loneliness because throughout the song it
The Dave Matthews Band has been a musical power house for years. They have meshed together almost every type of music together to create their extremely unique sounds and attractiveness towards their music. Dave Matthews, lead singer and guitarist from South Africa has put together a band that no one will ever be able to create again. Dave picked four extremely talented and unique sounding men to join his band and together they have created some amazing music. The members of the band include Stefan Lessard on bass, Boyd Tinsley on violin, Leroi Moore on saxophone and one of the best drummers in the world, Carter Beauford. Together these men will one day leave behind a similar reputation as one of the all time greatest "jam" bands of time.
American Beauty/American Psycho was an album that was sung by the band Fall Out Boy in 2015. Fall Out Boy is an alternative/indie rock band with a little hint of pop in some of their songs. This album, which is the band’s most recent album, is full of a lot of good songs and songs that maybe some people wouldn’t like. Fall Out Boy is a face-paced band, which means their songs are faced-paced. A lot of their songs could be a little hard to understand for people who don’t listen to this kind of music. The album does not have many of these types of songs, which is why it is a favorite among Fall Out Boy fans.
I think music has a way of explaining something or telling a story. Music can bring up happy times, it can also bring up sad times as well. Certain songs can remind someone of troubling issues from a past, can be the reminder of someone you have lost, it can also be a reminder of many happy times; such as weddings, high school dances, or even just hanging out with friends in the back
All music created has some kind of story behind it. It could be a bad story, good story, or even a complicated story. Every artist tells a story in their music that can relate to anyones life. Big Sean’s story on this album, Dark Sky Paradise talks about the bad and the good of paradise. The album has a lot of features from well known artist such as, Drake, Lil Wayne, Jhene Aiko and most importantly Kanye West because he started Sean’s career.
Music is a large consumption of my daily life and the artists I listen to have shaped me in some way. Listening to music is one of my most time
If one were to look back into the world’s history, one would find that an important and consistent element is the world of music. Music has presented itself in various forms throughout its spread and through our identification of its magical realm, people have been fortunate enough to come across a means of relation. Whether it is blues and reggae or rap and pop rock, there is music out there for everyone. Music can serve as a stabilizer for some, a relaxant to others, and to many a form of inspiration.
The song, once again, is quite simple but it is this simplicity that makes the song as powerful as it is. It was very well written and every musical instrument that accompanied the song was epic. This piece of work is truly a masterpiece.
Taking a look back into our history, it is very hard to graze over the fact that music has reigned as one of the most influential components of artistic expression in our time. It has been a part of numerous peoples' lives across the globe since the beginning of time. Music has been able to not only define the people that craft it, but encompass and define a whole time period and culture in its own, leaving a very bold mark upon history. Two pieces of music that have played integral roles during their time are “In Paradisum” (by an anonymous individual) during the middle ages (600-1450), and “Same Love,” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, featuring Mary Lambert during the 21st century (2001-2100, specifically released in 2012). These musical pieces, although from two very different spectrums in history, share a few notable similarities, as well as some remarkable differences that embody the ever so changing sound of art in time.
Music is a funny thing. I’ve listened to music all my life, thousands of songs, hundreds of artists. But only a few stick out; like my first real album (Tiffany’s self titled release. What ever happened to her?), or my first alternative album (the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik: I bought it on tape when I was 14 and listened to it so much that it wore out). Only one has become a part of who I am, the Dave Matthews Band’s Crash. Somewhere between its "So Much To Say" and "Proudest Monkey" my indifferent hearing turned into awareness, and I stopped listening with just my ears and started listening with my heart.
It all started in Columbus Ohio. A young boy found his love for singing with his two friends and together they started Twenty One Pilots. Tyler Joseph is now the only original band member left and with Josh Dun their band is becoming increasingly popular. When the movie Suicide Squad came out in the summer of 2016 so did Twenty One Pilots song “Heathens.” “Heathens” is now being played all over the radio and becoming more and more popular.
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
When I initially decided to write an essay about my favorite song,I thought it was the most easy task. After a lot of contemplation i chose the song 'DEMONS' by Imagine Dragons. It was released on January 2013 and it was a huge commercial success. The reason why i chose this song is not because it is one of my favorite tracks but the meaning it had to convey was powerful and also we all have demons within us.
Throughout my life, music has always been a major influence. It has the power to change my mood when I'm feeling down, but the thing I find most intriguing about music is that it doesn't always end up improving your mood: like all forms of art, it imitates life, which is not always portrayed in a positive light. The musicians that I admire most have the versatility to induce several different emotional responses in the same piece. This quality is present in most of the wide variety of music I listen to, from Russian composer Dmiti Shostakovich, to Chicago jazz band Tortoise, to California pop/rock sextet Mr. Bungle.
Rock ‘n Roll has touched many lives and made quite an impact over the years. Although this was not evident to me prior to taking this class, throughout the semester we gained insight into the concept that music impacts life through examples we saw and heard. When I took the time to interview my father, Steve Garner, I realized just how strong of an impact music can have. The concert my father told me about was Aerosmith, and it took place about thirty years ago. The ability to clearly remember that concert over a long period of time proves that music leaves lasting memories and a large impact.
