Before You Leap
One bright Easter day about four years ago, my family had gone to my
grandparents' house to celebrate Easter like we usually do each year. We talked,
ate, and had fun. Little did we know when we drove up to the house that, by the
end of the day, we would be in a hospital emergency room.
It all started when my cousin suggested that we have a water fight. We
had water guns and "water Easter eggs." These were plastic eggs filled with
water that would come open when you hit someone. My cousin Ryan and I were on
one team and my cousins Philip and Lance were on another team. We played
outside the house and also on a deck extending from the second floor of my
grandparent's house. For about thirty minutes we played and got a little wet
but nobody had been hurt.
At one point during the game, when I was inside, my cousin Philip, who
was on the deck, said "I've had enough. Come out here."
"Is this a trick?," I asked. It seemed a little suspicious.
"No, of course not. I'm just sick of this game."
"Well, okay." I hesitated then decided to go out to the deck.
"Ha! Got you!" said my other opponent, Lance, who was hiding behind the
door with a water egg in his hand.
"Liar!," I yelled at Philip. My instant reaction was to jump off the
deck onto the grass below. I had done it many times before and knew that I
would be okay. That way I could get away from Lance and I would not lose the
water fight. The water egg whizzed right past my head as I vaulted over the
railing of the deck. I shouted "Missed me!" without thinking about or looking
at what was below me. The only thing that I was thinking about on the way down
was not getting hit with that water egg. This thoughtlessness was my big
mistake. Since I was not paying attention on the way down, I lost my balance
and landed on my left foot in a painful fall.
"Are you all right?

Even some animals die at an early age from being taken away from their parents. If the zoo lets the animals back to their habitat they wouldn't be able to survive from being at the zoo for so long because they don’t have natural instincts to survive.
Zoos are massively valuable to education. Education is the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction. Zoos give instruction by teaching about animals and how to care for them as well. Zoos educate the public by showing them the different animals, how they act, how dangerous they are, and how to treat them according to the article “Education – Association of Zoos and Aquariums.” Zoos are an important part of education because without a public zoo some might not know how dangerous some animals are and get killed by them or even unknowingly kill an endangered species. Also without zoos the education on animals study would lack curiosity because of a poor presentation of examples. Children need to see to believe and without that aspect the education towards animals would suffer tremendously. A total of 175 million people have been educated because of zoos. They are educated about wild animals, their related conservation issues, their habitats, and the ways in which they can contribute to their preservation of these animals.
It’s always fun to go with your friends and family to see cute and exotic animals when you go to the zoo, right? You may think that they have the best life having people to give them things that want and to protect them, but some of them are actually suffering just for our amusement from being in that small enclosure all day and all night. Animals should not be put in zoos because they can develop many mental and physical health problems due to the absence of some natural necessities and they are not always treated as nice as you think.

Auditory learners are people who learn more effectively through listening to speeches or lectures. About 30 percent of the population is an auditory learner (Jacob, S. and Cole, S. 2005). For auditory learners they have to have sound in the background in order to learn the best. Auditory learners depend on hearing and speaking as a primary way of learning. They will use phrases like “it is starting to ring a bell” and “sounds good to me” to describe distinct memories. There are two types of auditory learners, auditory listeners and verbal processors. An auditory listener prefers to have things explained to them and will have trouble with written instructions; where as verbal processors must move their lips and reiterate the thoughts in order to understand the instructions. It is important for auditory learne...
Zoo’s enclosures and parks have been around for quite a while now, and it is the duty of the public to go to these parks to explore a new world and experience the “true” animals. People are attracted to new experiences and to learn about exotic animals and see them in their “natural” habitat, or so owners try to present zoos to the public in that way. The seller ideas to get the public to continue to go to the zoos is gaining new exotic animals that you wouldn’t normally see around your house or near civilization. As stated by DeLuca and Slawter-Volkening, zoos are used to “bringing a taste of wilderness” to its public (3), trying to give a false reality of the wilderness. Later in the same article, they stated that “fundamentally zoos exist to amuse people…..animals are reduced to actors in the play/world created by humans for humans” (DeLuca and Slawter-Volkening 4). This statement shows that humans do in fact enjoy the “fake” over the real, and that animals are only objects or toys used to amuse the people.

Vines weaved their way down from the trees that towered from on top of the rocks. We decided to take off and climb down towards the water pool.
Even though some zoos have an endangered species exhibit with the intention of protecting and rehabilitating animals, many do not do an adequate job of protecting the animals. Zoos have been harmful to the very animals they have sworn to protect. Animals in captivity often suffer from anxiety, boredom and other severe issue related to prolonged confinement. Most animals are unable to thrive in small enclosure with unnatural weather and climates. For example elephants are known to walk as far as 30 miles per day, but the association of Zoos and aquariums only require a space the measures $0 feet by 45 feet, which is about the size of a three car garage, to house these large animals. (peta.org) the drastic difference in the amount of space their allowed ...
All around the world, zoos and circuses are merely entertaining places to visit animals doing what they would in the wild or performing mind blowing tricks. Although zoos are said to be a learning environment and circuses just a harmless show, these environments are some of the most threatening to wild animals. What these people do not see are the horrors that happen behind the curtains or behind closed doors. These people do not witness the constant brutality or the constant neglect that animals in zoos and circuses experience almost every day. *Due to abusive environments and lack of resources critical to their development, wild animals should not be used for entertainment purposes.

Zoos are an unsuitable environment for wild animals and should, therefore, be abolished. Firstly, zoo animals are kept in a very confined area compared with their vast natural habitat. Secondly, breeding programmes are far less successful than zoos claim. Thirdly, zoo animals are exposed to many diseases and other dangers.
