This paper explores fraternities and sororities on college campuses and whether or not they are racially biased and if they exhibit implicit in-group bias. The social phenomenon of racism and bias is based on past research as well as movies and tv shows. In my research, I hypothesize that fraternities and sororities are racially biased and favor White Americans over other races and ethnic minorities. One way to test this hypothesis of whether or not fraternities and sororities are racially biased is to send in applications to the different fraternities and sororities on college campuses. I propose that the independent variable (the different applications sent to the fraternities and sororities) will show whether the members of fraternities and sororities are racially biased based on their ratings they give the applicants, such as being accepted or not (dependent variable). I will operationalize the independent variable by anonymously sending in applications to the different fraternities and sororities. Each applicant would have the same skill sets written on their applications; the only difference would be the races listed on each application. Then I will operationalize the dependent variable by asking the members of fraternities and sororities to rate the applicant's on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being they are not in, 5 being there is a chance they could be, and 10 being they are definitely in. I predict that the members of fraternities and sororities will favor the applicants listed as being White Americans as supposed to those listed as African American, Asian, Latino, or Middle
