Francis Xavier was one of the founder of the Jesuit Order. He was born on April 7, 1506 in Xavier Castle, close to Sangüesa, Navarre, Spain and died on December 3, 1552 in Sancian Island, China. His job and occupation was priest, missionary, and a saint. He is known as San Francisco Javier, Francis Xavier, and St. Francis Xavier. When he was nineteen years old, on 1525, he attended University of Paris to start his study of theology. While been in University of Paris, he became extremely close friends with St. Ignatius Loyola. While been roommates and friends, they both had a conversion and decided to assemble a group of men that could share same beliefs and values. On 1537, after the studies was complete, the men decided to go to Venice, Italy and start to be in missionaries to spread the Society of Jesus. Because of this, on June 24, 1537, he was ordained a priest because of his good work in the community and in the world. At the same time, on 1537, he and the men went to Rome and Italy to preach and care for the sick. Through this works, started to gain popularity and fame that even King John III of Portugal asked them for help. Even though they started to gain popularity, on March 15, 1540, he decided to leave and go to Lisbon to keep spreading the group. While he was leaving, Pope Paul III claimed Ignatius’s followers, the Society of Jesus, a religious group. As time passed, two years later, on May 6, 1542, he left Lisbon and Goa and decided to spend the next three years of his life in
India. Through time, he kept traveling and went to many places. He went to places like Ceylon, Molucca Islands, Banda Island, and Malay Peninsula. On August 15, 1549, he arrived at Kagoshima, Japan. When he got there and started preaching, he slowly started to change his habits on customs to the Japanese. While, at the same time, he started to translate religious writings. Later in his life, he decided to leave India and continue his missionary work in China. But, then on his way to Sancian Island, he was not able to enter the country because the international ports were closed. This meant that no one can go in the country. Because of this, on December 3, 1552, he died while waiting to be able to enter the country. He died only being forty-six years old. When people found out, they started to look for his body and when it was found, the body was taken and traveled to Goa for burial. After his death, it was declared that he baptized about 30,000 people. Because of this good works when he was alive, on 1619, Pope Paul V blessed him. Later, on 1622, Pope Gregory XV made and declared him a saint, becoming St. Francis Xavier.

After brief military career, he underwent a religious conversation and joined the Capuchin order, taking the name Father Joseph. His missionary zeal , political astuteness, and tireless activity enable him to rise rapidly within the Capuchin order, and Father Joseph directed its energies to converting infidels aboard and the Protestant Huguenots in France.
Gustavo Gutierrez was born in Lima, Peru in 1928. Since his nationality is mixed people called him a mestizo, which also meant that he was not given the same opportunities as most people due to economic standing. With this kind of upbringing led to his theological thinking and theology. As a young child Gutierrez was diagnosed with osteomylitis, which affects the bones, causing him to be bed bound for six years. Having this medical problem at a young age encourage him to study medicine. During his time in school he started to learn more about himself, which led to him changing schools to peruse seminary and become a priest. Gustavo was proving himself in seminary and was chosen for his graduate theological studies to study in Europe. In 1959 he was ordained and sent back to Peru. Upon his return he became aware of the poverty and oppression of his people and this realization launched his crusade. He began questioning the church reading about history and scripture through the eyes of the people who were all around in his country of poverty. He became very involved with the people of Peru and he formed friendships with priest and theologians who were also questioning the catholic church of Latin America. After all the studying he had done in his graduate program in Europe, he started to leave the theology he was taught and began adopting a new theology called Liberation Theology.
Philippe Petit changed numerous peoples’ thoughts about the Twin Towers when he performed his high wire walk between them in 1974. Before Philippe Petit walked the high wire between the Twin Towers in 1974, people weren’t certain how they felt about the construction of the World Trade Center. After Philippe performed, people began to warm up to the idea of the towers. Philippe Petit walked the high wire between the Twin Towers on August 7, 1974. This event prompted Andrew McMahon to write the song “Platform Fire” about this event for his band, Jack’s Mannequin. This song was not a hit for the band; however, fans of Jack’s Mannequin seem to have a special place in their heart for it.

Different estates were formed based on what you did and your class in society. The people of society wanted more say in the government and decisions that King Louis XVI made. The public didn't approve with much of what King Louis did. His lack of ability to be a strong king and leader affected his reputation to the public eye. King Louis was tried for committing treason to the country of France. Treason is the attempt to kill a sovereign and overthrow the government. Some of the reasons were his attempt to flee to Varennes, living in Versailles which was not in Paris, and reforms he passed as a ruler. Born in 1887, Padre Pio is not yet canonized. Francesco, named in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, was one of eight children of Grazio and Maria Forgione. Francesco was very devout even as a child, and at an early age felt drawn to the priesthood. He became a Capuchin novice at the age of sixteen and received the “habit” in 1902. Francesco was ordained to the priesthood in 1910 after seven years of study and became known as Padre Pio.
Saint Ignatius’s life was from 1491-1556. He was born to Beltran de Onaz Loyola and Dona Marina Sanchez de Licona they were married in 1467. Ingnatuis father died when he was sixteen years of age, and there was no record of his mother’s birth or death. It is not known if Saint Ignatius ever saw or knew his mother. The reason for that belief was because he was nursed by a common woman who lived in one of the villages and her name was Maria Garin.
Francis was born at Assisi in Umbria in the early 1180’s. His fath er was Pietro Bernadone, a very wealthy cloth merchant. His baptized name was Giovanni but it was changed to Francesco. Francis received a decent amount of schooling as a child although he did not show much interest in it. He was very spoiled and did not want to go into his father’s business. He had high status, was handsome, wore fine clothing, and was very well known with the people of Assisi.
Saint Francis of Assisi was an Italian monk who founded the monastic order of the Franciscans. He was from a wealthy family and spent most of his youth carousing the streets of Assisi with other young nobles. After fighting in the war between Assisi and Perugia, he contracted an illness and had his first mystical experience. After he was healed, Francis had another mystical experience while praying in a neglected church: “After a period of prayer and meditation, Francis heard the voice of Jesus coming from a nearby crucifix: ‘Francis go, repair my house, which, as you see, is falling completely to ruin’.” It was this call that inspired Francis to leave Assisi, determined to live more simply with his fellow monks.

Later, at around eleven years old, he transferred over to the Belvedere College in Dublin. (Ebook 1) After his graduation at Dublin he determined that he knew an adequate amount of the Jesuit religion, he officially rejected it (Gray 1). “After some religious experiences he lost his faith, then his patriotism, and held up those with whom he formerly worshipped to ridicule, and his country and her aspirations to contempt” (Collins 1).
Francis of Assisi lived about eight hundred years ago. He was born in the city of Assisi, Italy, in 1182. He was the son of Piero of Bernadone, who was a wealthy merchant. He received a education and seemed to follow his father's footsteps as a wealthy merchant. In 1201 he took part in an attack on Perugia, was taken hostage, and remained a captive there for a year. After his release, Francis joined the army but couldn't complete his time because he got sick. This period of time would change his life forever. During his sickness, Francis would spend hours meditating on the Lord in an old church, and he felt God drawing near to him. Some people come to Jesus with a memorable experience, but others come to Christ through a process. Francis' conversion wasn't an overnight experience, but it was definitely real.

(Pavur, 217) His name was not originally Ignatius; at birth he was named Inigo of Loyola, until he changed it to Ignatius later in life. (Pollen, St. Ignatius) He later decided to become a soldier in the Spanish army and was fighting in the battle of Pamplona; the French were invading the Spanish castle there.
