Fra Angelico was born Guido di Pietro in Florence, Italy, in the year 1400. It is believed that before he entered the monastery (when he was about twenty), Guido had received artistic training from Lorenzo Monaco, who was a monk and the leading painter and manuscript illuminator of his time. Guido was working as an artist at a time when the overall style of painting was changing. This process of change had begun around a hundred years ago with the works of Giotto who gave his paintings a three-dimensional feel, and his characters emoted more than those in the old Byzantine art style. Even though Giotto had kickstarted the Italian Renaissance style, Guido pioneered many of the stylistic trends that distinguish it.

In the Florence and the early renaissance, we have the greatest master of art like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Sandro Botticelli and others. In this period of time the painters almost never show their emotions or feelings, they were more focused on indulging the churches and the wealthy people. In The renaissance period the art provides the work of art with ideal, intangible qualities, giving it a beauty and significance greater and more permanent than that actually found in the modern art. Florence and the early renaissance, the art become very valued where every artist was trying to create art forms consistent with the appearance of the beauty or elegance in a natural perspective. However, Renaissance art seems to focus more on the human as an individual, while Wayne White art takes a broader picture with no humans whatsoever; Wayne, modern three dimensional arts often utilizes a style of painting more abstract than Renaissance art. At this point in the semester these two aspects of abstract painting and the early renaissance artwork have significant roles in the paintings. Wayne White brings unrealistic concepts that provoke a new theme of art, but nevertheless the artistic creations of the piece of art during early renaissance still represent the highest of attainment in the history of
It is a long-with-standing stereotype that Italians love to gamble. This is true. My great grandfather, Pasquale Giovannone, played the riskiest hand of cards when he immigrated to the United States as an illegal stowaway at the age of thirteen. He forged a life for himself amidst the ever-changing social and political shifts of the early nineteenth century. The legacy he left would later lead to the birth of my father, John Giovannone, in Northern New Jersey in 1962.
The development of Italian painting in the years around the 1300 or the proto-renaissance is in some sense the rebirth of art and culture. The painters of Renaissance Italy usually attached to particular courts and with loyalties to certain cities, still explored the extensive span of Italy. Many of the Italian painters grew artistically during this time, which is noticeable in Duccio’s painting compared to Giotto’s. In the renaissance period it was highly popularized to mainly draw depictions of religious figures, which is what the concentration of Duccio’s artwork mainly was. Before the painting of the Betrayal of Christ, Duccio’s paintings were highly composed and reliant upon the ancient tradition of icon painting. In the time around 1300 Duccio took steps toward depicting images in a more naturalistic form; Whereas, Giotto, in the 1300’s, was already established as painting more three-dimensional and naturalistic forms.
Giovanni Pietro Rizzoli also known as Giampietrino spent the vast majority of his known career developing drawings and paintings of nude women from roman mythology under the leadership of the great Leonardo Da Vinci. Under the influential scope of Leonardo, Giampietrino replicated myriad artworks of leonardo’s displaying the importance of honoring the great artists of the late fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, especially those such as Leonardo who remain a significant figure in the discourse of the canon of art in contemporary art society. Although he developed his own techniques and manipulations to refine his own work and bring forth a change in the development of the renaissance and baroque style of art, Giampietrino closely followed the methods taught in the Lombard school of art and those of his mentor Leonardo Da Vinci. The style employed by the Giordano is clearly naturalistic, as there is a distinct attempt to render the subject in a manner that is faithful to how things look like in the real world (Davies, Denny and Hofrichter 4). While there is some idealized elements, particularly in the pose of Saint Sebastian in the painting, naturalism takes precedent as the dominant style in the painting. Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus was born in approximately 163 B.C.E to Tiberius Gracchus the Elder and Cornelia Africana. Gaius Gracchus, his younger brother, was born in 154 B.C.E. In the 2nd century B.C., the two brothers formed “The Gracchi”. The two, born plebeians, belonged to one of the most influential families in Rome, the Sempronia. Their father was the tribune of the plebs, the praetor, consul and censor. Fatherless from a young age, they were taught democratic views by tutors. As they grew older and gained influence, their goal became to restructure Rome in a way that benefited the underprivileged and unfortunate. At the time, their help was especially welcome as members of the Populare, a political group whose purpose was to serve the people, rather than the aristocracy (like the Optimates). The ideals of the Gracchi leaned towards what people today would call populism or socialism; in fact, they are almost reverently called “the founding fathers” (Fife 1) of the aforementioned political parties. The brothers were perhaps so interested in restoring the rights of the people because of the dichotomy of their plebeian births within a noble line.

Montoya had started the Rebel Chicano Art in 1969 they wanted to express the goals of the Chicano Civil Rights and Labor Movement of the United farm workers with his friend Esteban Villa.
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni ( March 6, 1475 – February 18, 1564) an Italian Sculptor, painter, architect and a poet was probably the most important artist of the epoch of the Italian Renaissance, a period where arts and science changed from traditional to modern. He was the second of five children, whose parents were Lodovico di Leonardo di Buonarrotti di Simoni and Francesca di Neri del Miniato di Sierra. He was raised in Florence, and after his mother’s death he lived in Settignano. Michelangelo is one of the founders of High Renaissance and an exponent of a big movement called Mannerism. Mannerism “is a period of European paintings, sculpture, architecture, and decorative arts lasting from the later years of the Italian Renaissance around 1520 until the arrival of the baroque around 1600….is notable for its intellectual as well as its artificial (as opposed to naturalistic) qualities” (Wikipedia.com) Michelangelo (as well as Leonardo Da Vinci) was considered to be the Archetypal Renaissance man because of his versatility in his disciplines.
Giovanni da Verrazzano was the first European visitor to the area of New York. The French ship “La Dauphine” brought Verrazzano and his crew to New York in 1524. European was not until much later on September second, 1609 by Henry Hudson of the Dutch East India Company. At this time, New York was still named “New Amsterdam”. Beavers were abundant in New York at this time, which fueled a business as for the fashion in Europe was beaver pelts. The beaver’s importance was so great for New York’s history that it is now the city’s official seal.
While paintings in the Renaissance and beyond still had a ways to go in terms of technique and perspective, the progress made in Italy during this time period was astounding. Painters were able to convey emotions and feelings like never before, showing the world that they could transport them to scenes they had only seen in flat, Byzantine images. In a time of straining to make art look real, the use of perspective was the key.
Raphael was one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance. Raphael painted and designed many brilliant pieces of work and the stanzas inside the Vatican. He was a master at such necessities of modern art such as depth and perspective and the use of light and shadow, and was the turning point styles of paintings like the use of Madonnas in paintings. Through his short life, Raphael would make some of the most awe-inspiring, beautiful, and influential works of art during the Italian Renaissance.
The Italian Renaissance included some of the greatest artists we have ever seen from Leonard Da Vinci, to Michelangelo, and Raphael. The Renaissance took place from the late thirteenth to sixteenth centuries and is know as the ‘rebirth’. The idea that the rebirth of the arts after being asleep for a thousand years is an amazing thing to grasp. This time brought back light to liberal arts, which were on the brink of being extinct. (Murray 2) What is also interesting about art during this time was that most of the art had Christian in its roots, for example, Botticelli’s The Allegory of Spring (Faure 1) is said to have had a Christian interpretation. (Murray) “Every Italian artist, willingly took the title of architect, sculptor, and painter” (Faure 2). At the beginning of the fifteenth century, the Italian painters had asked the Flemish painters for their secret techniques because the Italians felt like the language of painting was one that was always meant for them. (Faure 4) The sculptors claimed their inspiration from ancient works. Lastly the Renaissance introduced idea of individualism, which helped the Italians get away from everything that was going on during that time. Art during the Renaissance included painting, sculpting and architecture, all of which were an important part in expressing the idea of individualism and making art what is is today.
Since the first prehistoric cave painting, and perhaps much before that, the human race has always used art as a form of expression. With the passing of each historical period came new technologies and techniques and were all influenced by the unique style, characteristics, and social conditions of those periods. Even though, each period discovered new forms and unique styles of art most historical periods were influenced by an earlier period of history. In this essay, I will explore the relationship, style, and influences of the Renaissance and Baroque periods and will also compare and contrast a work of art from both periods to further explain the relationship between the two eras.

It is a time when people with talents where provided with an opportunity to fully practice their skills, and to learn from yet compete with their peers. It is also a time when artists began to be treated as a unique individual together with his own art style and own characteristics. Just as Leonardo wrote in his notes:
Renaissance artists sought to mimic the beauty of nature. The Italian painter, Giotto, created many pieces of work that anticipated the new innovations of the Renaissance. His style emphasized the human beings and the human body. Another artist who truly began the Renaissance art period was Masaccio. His masterpieces had depth by mastering the laws of perspective as he created the illusion of detention.
