Since the Bible dates back to centuries ago, we have come to interpret it in many ways and different languages, so have both opposing groups. The Flat Earth Society was primarily founded on that the Bible also introduced a flat Earth. According to Dr. Jason Lisle, with a Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Boulder Colorado, he mentions that the Bible holds passages much older than 400 B.C. with the knowledge of a spherical or round Earth (Lisle 2006). However, the founder of the Flat Earth Society, Samuel Rowbotham suggests the Bible contains passages of knowledge of a flat Earth. In the book Zetetic Astronomy Earth not A Globe, Rowbotham diagnosed and quoted many passages from the Bible explaining where it states that the Earth is flat. When presented with the question if this also means that the Earth is squared and not a disc the flat Earthers usually agree that this is referring to the directional values appose to literal corners. This could easily be seen as a figure of speech and could be understood that the Bible states these four corners to represent North, South, East and West, as researched by Dr. Faulkner, an astronomer with a MD and Ph.D. from Indiana University and an MD in Physics from the Clemons University, in the article, Does the Bible teach the Earth is Flat? (Faulkner 2017). When looking into these passages, the right thing to do would be to look at it all, as a whole and decipher or translate to the best and actual term.
