Final Reflection Academic Life Strategies has been a valuable learning tool. It has opened my mind to new ways of accomplishing goals and achieving academic success. Although academic success is important, I have learned that to set my expectations on a perfect performance isn’t required, that working with others as a team is difficult, and understand that concentration is an ongoing battle. I agonize over imperfection, preferring not to try, above not achieving perfection. Reevaluating my vision of success will alleviate undue stress along my academic journey. Perfection is an unrealistic definition of success in any area of life, and is not required in achieving academic success. I have heard many times, that a hard-earned B is more valuable
than an easy A. I am trying to remember this, and adjust my expectations accordingly. The worst experience in ACAD is undoubtedly working as a group. Though one team member was right there, all along the way, one was hindered by transportation difficulties and technology issues, and the other just didn’t act as though the project was a priority. Though the project was completed on time, if I had to redo the same project with the same team I would approach it differently and assert myself as more of a leader. On my list of things to fine tune is concentration. I am easily distracted, and although I do the majority of my homework in my office, I am continually distracted by various things. Phone, pets, outside traffic, family and housework all intrude on my concentration. I have a hard time focusing on what I am doing while my mind whirls with all of the things I know still needs to be done. But I realize the rest of the world can’t pause to accommodate me. I have enjoyed ACAD, and value the knowledge gained. I am thankful for the opportunity to pursue my education, not only for a more secure future, but for the simple fact that I am enjoying it more than I thought possible. You have been a wonderful instructor, and I wish you the best. Thank you for your commitment to education.

It is up to each individual to decide whether he or she achieved perfection in their job, and the bar to determine that is similarly different for each individual. In the end when the task has been completed individuals shouldn’t necessarily ask themselves if they were perfect, they should ask themselves how they can improve from their experience. Achieving perfection is a constant chase, when one thinks they were perfect they must also realize that they could have been better. When an individual thinks they are perfect, they have given up on the chase for perfection. “Better is possible. It does not take genius. It takes diligence. It takes moral clarity. It takes ingenuity. And above all, it takes a willingness to try.”
Time sure does fly; in the blink of an eye, yet another 7.5-week class has come and gone. Just like life, it is scary to think that in just a few short years I will be graduating college and be in search of a future career. The magnitudes of readings, assignments, PowerPoint lectures, and videos have all contributed to the valuable knowledge I have gained since taking this course. Nothing that was presented or required was seen as invaluable towards my progression of career development. This career development course has allowed me to do some self-exploration, career research, and help me understand what influencing factors were related to the job market. Ultimately, this class helped me gauge and find a suitable career path, which will forever shape my future.
Sequence: I use sequence first in all areas of my life such as school, work and also personal relationships. I need step by step direction before I can start any tasks and delivers what is expected of me. I am well-ordered, very detailed oriented and I like to know what is going to happen next. I need time to complete my work so I set a schedule for everything since I thrive on a well-organized life.
According to Osmond & Darlington (2005, p.3), as a professional social worker that critical reflection could be a fundamental approach to contribute to their work. Besides, the best value of the critically reflective approach might have a chance to engage with different ideas, knowledge, feelings and theories. Thus, critical reflection is a necessary approach to every social work to contribute them to be professional.
This semester in kinesiology it has helped make my decision in what I want to to do in my career choice. Educating me on the human body and how the muscles work together, which is not only the study of human movement but the physical aspect but mentally as well, Kinesiology is describes the and explains daily activities, working out cardiovascularly or strength training, voluntary and involuntary movements and combining it with anatomy and physical education and psychological & sociological aspect as well giving knowledge in my future career as personal trainer, bodybuilder and biomedical engineer.
Over the recent four months in Communication 1402 class, I have addressed three formal speechs and completed a number of chapters in the corresponding textbook “Communication Works”. This course of Communication aims to provide general information what public speaking is and how to address a public speaking. Recalling back the experience during the processes of completing the Speech to Imform, Speech to Persuade, and Group Presentation, I will draw a conclusion about this course and these three presentations in five aspects, comprising my previous perception of public speaking before this course; learning from the Speech to Inform; the goal and evaluation of Speech to Persuade; learning from the Group Presentation; the most important thing learned from this course.
Perfection by definition is being free of error or fault, but all humans know that there is always something to improve on. Perfection is unattainable, but society pushes this ideal. This is visible in the media, where people are photoshopped to perfection, but in reality no human exists that way. In school, there is pressure from teachers, parents, and even sometimes students themselves to get good grades across all areas of study. But no human can be perfect, because there are always way to be better. When this ideal of perfection becomes one's idea of success, it makes it difficult to be celebrate achievements and continue to improve. The idea of perfection is harmful to the pursuit of success because it sets up unrealistic expectations
Everyone is susceptible to change. When the change comes in the form of a crisis, whether planned or unplanned, it is the readiness and the subsequent response that will ultimately form the lasting impression of how the person, brand or business is perceived, for years into the future. Therefore, with integrity, honesty and image at risk, a focused and prepared crisis communications team is a critical component to anyone, whether they be a large worldwide corporation or a small main street business.
This class has been significantly more difficult than any other English class I have taken all throughout high school. This semester, I have been introduced to different styles of writing that I have never been exposed to before. This class has been stressful, but also fun. With using all of the resources I have been given throughout the semester, I have been able to do my best to further my writing abilities and hopefully only continue to grow them as I finish my later years in college. Throughout this essay, I will discuss my failures, my successes, my overall performance in the class, and my skill development skills.
Perfection is not within the realms of possibility, but I always knew if I aim for perfection, I could at least achieve excellence. This is the mantra I have followed in every walk of life. I have always learnt to appreciate everything I have taken up, thoroughly and to the fullest. In this competitive pace of life, I have learnt a lot from my experiences and I am still striving to learn more. I considered it irritating to be asked by a teacher to rewrite something they have not read and explicitly state the revision should look completely different from the original. Then I realized the essay was a constant series of revisions as I worked towards a paper I would be satisfied to submit for a grade. I would like to share the evolution of my essay from my rough draft to the final draft I submitted to Brainfuse and finally through the completed revision.
It is said that if you enjoy what you do, the results will come. Starting the notoriously difficult second semester of second year in the Life Sciences SSP program, I perceived myself as highly motivated towards achieving success through self-satisfaction, over my grades. This would be challenging as a results-oriented individual, but I felt a need to discover my interests relative to future career choices. The semester was successful by academic standards, but I lacked a positive morale, I experienced a disconnection from course content, and I developed apprehension towards third year course selection.
The semester has changed the way people, including myself, saw their majors in a way I did not expect. Mostly, I noticed that a lot of people who started this semester really confident about what to expect were really surprised and slacked off later in the semester than those who came in with an open mind. Earlier in the semester, I really had been doubting my choice of architecture as a major. I had especially been feeling constricted as a lot of the things I am also interested in have little to do with architecture.
The academic journey from my childhood up to my ongoing college experience was an important role in defining who I am as an individual. Like any other person, I eventually gained the understanding and importance of essential qualities like time management, work ethic, developing strong mental mindset, and many other things throughout my years of education. Fortunately for me, I became aware of these things much earlier than my peers around me. However, being aware of these things was only a fraction towards success. Over time I’ve realized that the most critical part of success was gaining the discipline and willpower to apply these lessons and concepts.
It is often believed that the way we choose to manage things defines the outcome. But who can say with certainty what the correct way of doing things is? When it comes to academic performance the amount of effort put into work is not the only factor that determines whether a student is going to be successful or not; personality, style and perception also play a key role. Students tend to be distinguished by the label “active” or “passive” regarding their rate participation and means for success. But even though they employ different methods of engagement, active and passive students are equally efficient. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.”
