The world of mass communication is a world that is continuously growing and modernizing. Mass communication can be defined in so many different ways but its general purpose is to target a large audience of people at once. This semester we have covered many areas of mass communication that have really stuck with me and opened my eyes to how extensive our media coverage really is. Overall, the one chapter that stuck with me the most is the use of the internet in the mass communication world. The internet has become such an important resource and outlet that allows people not only to communicate with one another but to receive news as well. Modern days, the internet has become a part of a huge percentage of people’s daily lives in America. Whether it’s used on someone’s phone on the subway on the way to work or surfed by an employee in a cubicle at work, the internet is there and always functioning. The cyber world is such an extensive world that really has so much information to offer to an individual. The internet has not only become an important way to receive news and coverage, but it has broadened our horizons because with the use of the internet we can search for and learn just about anything.

It is crazy to believe that such a brilliant invention like the internet has only been around for about sixty years. The internet began with the use of huge electronic computers in the 1950’s but the use of “telegraphing” and the general concept of the internet came in to play way before the cyber world was invented. The whole concept of the internet is to send data from point A to point B and this concept was being practiced way before dial-up internet on a Dell computer was in the picture. In conclusion, the world of mass communication is a world that is always modernizing and growing. New ways of communicating are always coming into play and being invented every single day. Our world of mass communication has developed so fast and so much in the past fifty years. Overall, the internet has made the biggest mark on the mass communication world. The internet provides such an extensive portal to just about anything. It allows us to communicate with one another, receive information and search and learn about just about anything we want. I feel very strongly that the future of mass communication lies in the modernization and expansion of the internet.
