The book then ultimately provides specific strategies that can be utilized to reduce the negative emotional and physical impact of a law enforcement career. I believe the book succeeds in doing this.

The influence of higher education on police officer habits would surprise many according to Matthew D. Bostrom, D.P.A of the Saint Paul Police Department in “Police Chief Magazine-The Professional Voice of Law Enforcement”. Although a degree is required for some agencies and considered ideal for any person looking to join the law enforcement field, surveys show otherwise says Bostrom. According to a study conducted in St. Paul, Minnesota there were more on-duty vehicle collisions by officers with formal education beyond high school than those who only obtained a high school diploma. The article also shows figures indicating more disciplinary actions towards officers with college degrees and a significant difference in those of officers with high school diplomas only. The measurements of work habits shown indicate that perhaps a college degree in general is not necessary to be an effective police officer. Traffic Officer James Dunn of the California Highway Patrol in an interview said, “a degree can be beneficial, but some people are very eloquent and knowledgeable even without attending college-a person can learn the specific duties of any job, but college does not teach you the responsibilities of being a police officer. You learn that by hands-on training”. Although a degree is helpful, Officer Dunn admits that he has been very successful in the law

Athletic Trainers play a crucial part in today’s professional sports. They also help on lower levels of sports in high school, and college level teams. The job of an athletic trainer is simple yet very important, they are charged with treating, and preventing injuries. A trainer does this by developing therapies to reduce pain, and improve mobility (“Athletic Trainer Salaries”). They have to stand for long periods of time, work well with athletes of different sizes, move or carry equipment around, good mobility and communication skills to give instructions (“Athletic Trainer, Healthcare Program”). These trainers serve as a crucial part of an athlete getting back into their sport. Athletic trainers usually work under the direction of a physician, so they are like the Doctor’s healing hands in action.
Zoe is a very great attentive student. She is a student whoholds a lot of valuable pronciples from her Haitian-Cuabn culture. The monment she enters the building she greets people with respect. She always says good morning and refers to all staff and her peers by their name. Zoe always comes to school in a positive attitude. I have yet to see her upset which allows me to believe she is good in toning her emotions or personal life outside of school grounds. Outside of school she is always busy between homework, family and tutoring at the SCO Family Services program in Downtown, Brooklyn. By the end of her long day she is exhausted but yet a smile is always on her face giving no sinces of anger or worries.if I was to describe Zoe’s emotional tone or color it would be lavender. She is calm, soothing to me around but ye keps firm.she had a bright future a head of her. Between the classes I have observed her in she is always energetic, cheerful and strong minded. She is excited in theatre class showing off her acting skills and in Spanish class she is attentive when doing her Spanish class work.

It’s no question that the military has changed over the years. Basic Combat Training has not changed for 30 years until the millennial generation, but why? The older generation says that the newer generation has become too soft and they made Basic Combat Training easier; the new generation thinks otherwise. Training is one of the core functions of the Central Office of Right of Way, which at its very nature demands the Office to have a strong learning capability as a byproduct of its teaching mandate. Individually, the employees have freedom to develop individual training plans that outline courses to enhance them both personally and professionally in various areas. Additionally, there is a strong network of institutional learning for ongoing, in-house training to ensure the employees are proficient in the execution of their duties and their knowledge of the procedures and applicable rules, statutes, and federal regulations. As a military policeman my Army training continued but now included police specific topics. Lots of judo and hand-to-hand combat plus additional firearms training, pistol, rifle to machine gun and I was awarded the “high score” trophy during the .45 caliber pistol qualifications. As a policeman I was assigned to attend the POST academy course in education and training required by the State with some additional specific training required due to the social unrest that really ramped up while I was a civilian policeman. As you’ll see my training continued through my police department years, right up to the year I retired. Much of these training subjects were district specific in that they provided me with additional knowledge that assisted me in the different locations of my assignments; such as Desert Training and Snow Safety Awareness and just as important I was updated with changes in technology; such as Revolver conversion to Semi-Auto Pistol Training. In some areas I was an instructor for some of these subjects which I volunteered to do realizing that as a trained instructor I became more knowledgeable with the subject matter which greatly added to my own confidence as my career
