FedEx Marketing Mix
Federal Express is an express transportation company, founded in 1973 by Frederick W. Smith. During his college years, he recognized that the United States was becoming a service-oriented economy and needed a reliable, overnight delivery service company designed to solely transport packages and documents. He wrote a Yale term paper on this idea and received a C. His professor thought it would never work. Fortunately for Frederick Smith, he did not take it to heart and ended up building that company he dreamed of.
FedEx Express now delivers about 3.7 million packages per day throughout the United States and to some 210 countries worldwide.
The company operates a fleet of more than 660 aircraft and some 47,000 motorized vehicles and trailers.
FedEx offers a wide range of services for many different people, including FedEx Same Day, FedEx First Overnight, FedEx Priority Overnight, FedEx Standard Overnight, FedEx 2Day, FedEx Express Saver, FedEx Ground U.S., and FedEx Home Delivery.
This brief study will discuss the four Ps of marketing as they apply to Federal Express services, seeking to demonstrate how the entire marketing function can be seen in the operation of these four areas, and to be able to suggest possible courses of action.
Price
The main factors that influence the price charged by FedEx are the costs of gas, promotions, and market research.
The price that FedEx charges on the services now is lower than other competitors (UPS an...
Because of the increase in production, the shift uses it allotted cement, and was refused more from the warehouse. Eventually the cement arrives by train from the warehouse and work continues towards breaking the record. As the train of cement arrives, it is depicted as “The train came up slowly, overcoming the pressure of the wind with tremendous difficulty.” This reference explains the reluctance of some in the Soviet Union to move forward and become modern. The final obstacle is the lack of water to make the cement mix, the reasoning behind the loss of water was cost effectiveness. Marguiles had moved forward to break a record with consideration of the cost, only the result. The water is restored and 402 mixtures were poured during this shift, but because of the water stoppage, Marguiles has the shift time was extended and 506 mixtures were poured. With the record broken, brigadier Ishchenko is confirmed into the party and all of his shock brigadiers receive access into the Komsomol, the Youth Communist League. The glory is short lived, as the record they just established is also broken within a day, by yet another construction
UPS started delivering packages by air as early as 1929 with United Airlines operating ford Tri-motors. UPS’s first airline venture started as a 50/50 partnership with DHL in a company called International Parcel Express (IPX). IPX hired a group of former Transamerica employees to gain the air carrier certificate. With 60 aircraft in the fleet of IPX by 1987, it was becoming difficult to manage with all the different contract carriers and aircraft. UPS announced it would be taking over all air operations in 1988 and using the IPX certificate as the basis for UPS airlines. UPS Airlines started on January 28th 1988. Ten months after receiving the operating certificate from the FAA, UPS Airlines had grown to an operation of 94 aircraft. UPS airline was the fastest growing airline in FAA history.
Frontier airlines marketing utilizes the 4Ps within the constraints that were listed in the module slides. The product, for all intents and purposes, is the seat, in motion from one place to another. If that seat goes unfilled, it is not stored for later use, but goes bad, like fruit. This is a similar issue of production that hotels face. The unit is constantly produced and expiring, with no option not to produce it if it will not be sold (with the exception of scaling back service on, or closing, a route. Additionally, it is a consumer based product, so frontier needs to be sensitive to the desires of the customer, because there are many choices when flying into and out of Denver.
The development of the storm was initiated by an apparent tropical wave that had given way of the African Coast around August 5th. The cloud pattern of the storm slightly resembled that of an inverted “V” began traveling westward, then northward, across the Atlantic Ocean and was recognized as a tropical disturbance 4 days later, August 9th. The following 5 days or so the storm continued to travel showing no sign of circulation. On August 14th the United States Air Force sent a reconnaissance aircraft into the storm for surveillance, with a growing concern. What was about to be Tropical storm Camille was still south of Cuba with expectation to become much more potent. At the point of infiltration by the aircraft the planes barometer revealed a 999 millibar pressure center with 55 mile an hour surface winds. At this point the disturbance was inaugurated to be a “tropical storm.” As the intensification process ensued, and the squall shifted northwestward at a slow speed of 9 miles per hour, but gained a great amount of force in...
Once there was, as never before, a hurricane of great might and strength. As never before, there once was a hurricane of many names: storm, cyclone, tempest, typhoon, and flood. Yet it has lived on in history as the Great Galveston Hurricane of 1900. Humanity has glorified and immortalized the hurricane. The Great Galveston Hurricane has been the subject of numerous articles, novels, plays, and poems, as well as four major nonfiction studies (Longshore). It is truly one of hurricane lore’s greatest of storms.
Before 1860 it was virtually impossible to get a letter or other form of correspondence from St. Joseph Missouri to Sacramento California in less than 20 days. 20 days seemed entirely too long for the west coast merchants and bankers to wait for documents from the east. So three men, William Russell, Alexander Majors and William Waddell created the Pony Express. The Pony Express ensured fast and safe delivery of the mail.
Many children are ridiculed and bullied via social media pages such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. They are publically shamed for various reasons some being considered not popular, promiscuous, or homosexual. They receive messages and are included in posts or tweets that target them for who they are. Others who see these posts can take part in commenting and ganging up on the individual. On ABC News most recently, teen girls have targeted others by posting “silly photos of themselves then altered to include blunt advice to each other, about things like how to dress more appropriately.” Today the person being targeted eventually commits suicide because the humiliation becomes unbearable. To shame a person to death is unacceptable, it is their right to be who they are without being judged. Society and the people within need to worry about their own
Marketing is a process of determining a consumer’s needs, devising a product or service to satisfy those needs, and trying to focus customers on the goods and services you are offering. Marketing is extremely important, and a fundamental building block for business growth. A marketing team is given the task of creating customer awareness through a variety of different marketing techniques. If a business does not pay close attention to their consumer demographic and needs, they will eventually fail over time. Two important aspects of marketing include acquiring new customers, and the preservation and growth of relationships with current customers. Marketing has always been viewed as a creative outlet, which encompassed advertising, distribution, and the selling of goods and services. Marketing staff will also try to anticipate what customers will want in the future, often being accomplished with market research. In summation, a good marketing plan should be able to create a favorable proposition or series of benefits that a customer can value through goods or services. The marketing mix is normally described as the strategic positioning of a product or service in the marketplace, using the specification of the four Ps. During the early 1960’s, Professor E. Jerome McCarthy of Harvard Business School stated that a marketing mix contains four elements. The four key points are product, pricing, promotion, and placement. It is recognized that all these aspects must be present to ensure a successful business model within a given industry. We will now take a thorough look at the four marketing mix points.

“Amanda Todd was a 15 year old girl when she committed suicide because she was blackmailed, bullied, and physically assaulted on social media” (NoBullying). Suicide is a very serious issue that happens to appear frequently. Kids figure that they have no one to go to and get help, so they choose this path instead. “Suicide is responsible for nearly 4,500 deaths of kids every year” (CyberBullyHotline). It is also ranked 3rd for what causes the most deaths in the U.S. About 20% of teens will have the thought of suicide but 1 in 10 usually attempt it” (CyberBullyHotline). As mentioned a little before about kids not having anyone to turn to, it is just a product of thinking. The kids get put down so much that they feel like there is just no possible way for them to be helped. But that isn’t necessarily true because they never get around to asking for help because in their mind it isn’t an option. And this all happens because people decide that it is okay to make someone else’s life miserable. Social media has an influence that can cause bad mental health.

During his college years, he recognized that the United States was becoming a service-oriented economy and needed a reliable, overnight delivery service company. In 1965, as a undergraduate at Yale University, Smith wrote a term paper about the passenger route systems used by most airfreight shippers, which he viewed as economically inadequate. He wrote of the need for shippers to have a system designed specifically for airfreight that could accommodate time-sensitive shipments such as medicines, computer parts and electronics.
The United States Postal Service (USPS), also known as the Post Office, U.S. Mail, or Postal Service, the one of the oldest independent government institute obviously manage by the United States constitution, which provides the postal service for people in the country. Since 1775, when Benjamin Franklin was selected at the first Postmaster General of the United States, the U.S. Postal Service has become an institution which is established in order to provide the service of processing, transporting and delivering the mail to the people all around the United State. In the past, the U.S. Postal Service has instantaneously investigated new technologies for continue improving the service, but they are not enough to compare with the new modern technology
My father 's philosophy, where hurricanes were concerned, was that “either the house is gonna go, or it 's not.” He and his mother took shelter inside the house to wait out the storm, while his brother ended up throwing caution- and good sense- to the eventual 85mph winds, and went out driving, possibly drinking, with friends (Wikipedia, 2015). He would return later, after about a week of partying and storm-chasing that has long escaped his memory. My father said he was “lucky to be alive.” My dad was fascinated with storms, and gravitated toward the windows to watch the chaos even as his mother, the most cautious of the three, warned him away from it. Though he was not hurt from doing so, and the house itself did not suffer much damage, the effects of the storm were sweeping and severe.

Social media or cancer? Just like cancer, social media slowly withers away people’s brains, especially in teenagers, when they consume almost everything they read. Social media has grown exponentially while attracting the young minds of teens and molding them without teens knowing. They latch on to things that they feel comfortable with, because they are still trying to find who they really are. Today, social media is used by almost every teenager in America. Sites like Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Snapchat, and Facebook can affect them in a negative way, making them feel worse about themselves or even changing who they really are. Social media can seem harmless to many teens, but it can actually hurt them and cause mental health issues.
