The Crucible by Arthur Miller, is a partially fictional story of the Salem witch trials that took place in Province Massachusetts Bay during 1692 and 1693. In this story a man saw a group of girls practicing witchcraft in the forest. When the girls returned from there endeavor they became paranoid that their actions would be found out and that they would hang for it. Arthur Miller uses this story to convey the idea that fear leads people to lie. Since the girls were afraid that they would be hanged for their actions, they blamed Tituba saying that she “sends her spirit on them in church” (Miller 1) and she “comes at them every night to come and drink blood” (Miller 1).
