Conflict and Resolution In The Favorite Daughter, the conflict occurs when Yuriko’s classmates make fun of her baby picture and her name, so she wants an Americanized name, like Michelle (pp. 9-10). The resolution shows when Yuriko and her dad go for a trip at Japanese Garden and Golden Gate Bridge to bring back memories, and she finds her name means, “The Child of the Lily,” and lastly, she makes her project and named it by her original name, Yuriko (pp. 17-30). In A New Pair of Wings, the conflict occurs when Delores’ classmates tease and make fun of her for not speaking English, and Delores wants to go back to the Philippines as she needs her magic charm and she is looking for Star Maidens (pp. 16-18).
