Consciously, I can remember being into clothing since the fourth grade. Despite attending a catholic school and wearing a uniform from the age of six to thirteen, I would always try and develop subtle ways to make my gray slacks and blue button-up shirts look more stylish. As I got older, this appreciation for style and fashion only grew stronger, since I got to know myself and the world of fashion much better. By the age of 13, I knew I wanted to have some sort of creative position in that realm, but I was always unsure of what title would encompass my abilities and interests, translating them into a successful career. This fall, I got to the opportunity to work as a fashion coordinating assistant at the office of Calvin Klein in Midtown New York. Since I started on September 12, the experience took all of the conceptual aspects of my past relating to fashion and turned them into more solidified and experience based assets to carry with me in my future. Working as an assisting fashion coordinator in the fashion office, I was exposed to numerous forward thinking individuals who were either in the creative, production, or casting departments. For example, the photography that we seen on billboards or in fashion magazines, I got a first hand experience on all the different people it takes to make this happen and how one photo could generate millions of dollars in revenue. Prior to the internship, my understanding of fashion shoots for advertising purposes was basic and essentially reviled around the photographer and the models.
