Everyone makes mistakes. It is just something people do, but they need to learn from their mistakes to become more intelligent. Humans have been messing up for thousands of years, but becoming more knowledgeable because of it. Writing is knowledge, whether it be specific information or literature containing themes and morals. It is something that has been evolving for thousands of years, and it has become one the most important developments ever. Something else that has been around for awhile is left-handed people. These abnormalities that can be associated with uncleanliness can sometimes be inspiring. Lefties, the strange beings they are, can sometimes very famous and influential.

Whether it be favored by professionals such as Babe Ruth or Larry Bird or annoying to celebrities like the former president Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Mozart, it cannot be denied that all of these are very significant individuals in history(Famous Lefties). It is rare to find left-handed people, but all these big names are lefties. These are very inspirational people who laid groundwork or contributed a lot to their craft. America was influenced in the antebellum period by many aspects, and authors with their writings were no exception. Henry David Thoreau a famous American writer sparked the ideas of reform and standing up for ones belief through his writings such as Walden, Civil Disobedience, and speeches such as Slavery in Massachusetts. Thoreau started life through education, but still did not conform to who society thought he should be, but rather rose with his idol Ralph Waldo Emerson into transcendentalism and pushed the limits of government. Thoreau was an influential gentleman who stood for what he believed in time and time again and pushed Americans to do the same through his writings and actions.
The mistakes they make show how we as humans are not perfect. and in an intimate relationship writing to your significant other in a sense you are giving them apart of yourself. It shows feeling, sensitivity and thoughtfulness. Your thoughts and feelings written on paper that they can go back and review it at any time they wish. It has much more meaning versus a text that may have taken just a few seconds.
In this day and age, writing is being portrayed through various mediums, such as film and television. Some of those portrayals depict writing as both good and bad depending on the situation that is present. Authors such as, by E. Shelley Reid, Kevin Roozen, and Anne Lamott all write about important writing concepts that are being depicted in films, like Freedom Writers. The film Freedom Writers shows a positive and accurate portrayal of writing in the sense that the writers should have a connection to what they are writing about, writing is a form of communication, and that writing does not have to be perfect the first time.

When trying to think of a positive writing experience I have had in my lifetime, particularly as a small child, I could not think of any. So I began to ask myself why is it that I do not like writing, what happened in my life for me to have such animosity towards the act. I was finally able to think of an event and realized that it had all begun in the 3rd grade. One day, as a punishment for talking during class, I was kept inside during recess and was forced to write Wise Old Owls until my hands began to cramp. For 45 minutes, I was only allowed to write the same old phrase over and over again; “The wise old owl sat on an oak, the more he heard, the less he spoke, the less he spoke the more he heard, why can’t I be like that wise old bird”. To this day I can still remember that little rhyme and to this day I can remember that same feeling I felt as a elementary school student. From that point on I have always had an aversion for writing, it always seemed like a punishment. I still do not understand how people can journal. I don’t see how someone can sit down and write an entry or a novel just for the hell of it. Almost Ten percent of the population is left-handed. Growing up being left handed has forced me to adapt to situations that were simple for a right handed person. In my early childhood, I was forced to use my right hand when I would use a computer mouse. When it was time to write in our notebooks I was always aggravated with the metal spiral rubbing against my hand in my notebook. Once I reached high school, the desk was another change I had to adapt to; the desks were made for right handed people.
