Time goes by as fast as lightning. So for some students four years would seem like a little amount of time because it passed at a blink of an eye. Educators are debating on extending high school to five years. Some say that it should be five years because of the increasing demand on students from employers. Others say that it’s unnecessary because students would lose interest. High school should be five years because it would give them the more time they need and because it would help students become more mature. Extending high school to five years would be a good idea because it would give students extra time extremely needed. Students have lot of credits that they need to have in order to graduate and getting them all can be very stressful. For example, for every incoming freshman they need more credits than a person that was a freshman last year would need. So with that extra year it would give the students more than enough time. Also with that extra time they would have more time to do extra curricular activities. With these extra curricular activities it would help them collect credits that will help them boost the credits need or maybe even help them start getting credits for college. It would also give them more time to get help in a class that they struggle in. If they’re struggling they can get extra help with a teacher or take a class specifically for the class they need help in. For example a class like read 180 which gives students extra help in english. Therefore, making high school to five years would be a good idea it would give students the time they really need. High school should also be extended to five years because this would also help them become more mature. A year can do a lot maturity wise. For example, if you think about how you were a year ago, you could say that you were almost a completely different person. This could be an advantage for college because if the students are more mature the students will be more responsible. That is very important for college because in college you're basically on your own and no one is going to be reminding you what you have to or don’t have to do, it all depends on you and your decisions. Also be more well prepared for college.
The founders of the American public school system had a dream that all of America’s youth would have the opportunity to attend school in the best way possible for the times. The educational leaders of today must take up the same mission of providing the best school system imaginable for our modern era. Yearlong education is the solution to many problems that plague teachers, students, and school budgets.
High school students should not have to serve one hundred hours of community to graduate because they already have enough on our plates as it is. Most teens already have multiple things going on in there lives. Adding on one more extra requirement onto the hectic schedules of these teens will cause an overload. The school piles kids down with homework and also expects students to study in order to get good grades, which it should be expected, but that is the limit for most. For example, lets say and average teenager who has to pay for their own care and gas and also other e...
...o years, have a well rounded education and everyone should be given an opportunity to receive an education if they choose to.
Some students would argue that a college education is not a vital aspect of the future of children because it is too much schooling, costs too much, and it is not needed for their future. First of all, these students have struggled through 13 years of school whether elementary, middle, or high school. They have endured many long days and late nights to pass their classes. Although it is true that 4+ more years of school will be mentally tough and hard to endure, these important years will help shape
Students should be required to get a diploma or a GED because of better job opportunities, go to college, and have a job that has higher wages. So, students that are still in high school it would be best if you stayed in school and get your high school
Although year-round school is not something that most Americans are used to, it is much more beneficial than the original nine-month schooling. Nine-month schooling has been around for a very long time, but it is also out dated. Nine-month schooling was a way to help farmers keep their children at home for extra help during the summer months. Now, more and more people are living in town, and farmers have advanced equipment. Year-round school is a great way to give students and teachers more frequent breaks throughout the school year so they do not get burnt out. It will also shorten the review time each year, and allow teachers to teach more throughout the school year. The multi-tracking system allows
Society pushes today's youth towards higher education. The goal of grade school is to prepare the students for middle school. The goal of middle school is to prepare the students for high school. And finally the goal of high school is to prepare the students for college. The entire structure of education is to prepare youth for the next level of education. The problem with this system is that not all students are college material, as seen in the essay The Case Against College by Caroline Bird.
How important is a college education? High school seniors should consider going to college because students who gain a college education often have higher lifetime earnings and a great quantity of other benefits. There are more employers who choose to hire applicants with college degrees. People who lack college degrees are more likely to be limited to basic jobs. Those with a high school education may obtain jobs with good benefits, but college graduates often earn better. Although going to college costs a lot, it is actually true that high school seniors should go to college because they’ll learn more skills that can be applied to their jobs and they’ll have much more benefits while having a career.
As stated by Margaret Trimer-Hartley the Superintendent of the University Prep Science & Math in Detroit, “... ready for college and their job which is 12 months in a year.” This shows how a worker in the education system finds the importance the benefit of having the year round schooling. It is true when you get a job you can't just give up. If you give up then you eventually might get fired from that job , and if you get fired you don't get a salary, you don't get a salary then you won't be able to pay bills. The year round schooling would help students become accustomed to having to be in one place for several hours. In addition, as said by Julie Donlon a teacher in Roosevelt-Perry Elementary, “ ...spends only two weeks reviewing.” This quote show how teachers can calmly proceed through their teaching without having to take a long time reviewing what they already have learned. The students will be able to retain information for a long time. Which prepares them for the future because once you start working you can't forget what you know about your job to work there. As a result, Year round schooling should be implemented into our education system. The children of Danbury need the new advanced way of
The first reason why year round schooling wouldn’t be a good idea is because of focusing for long periods of times for some students. First of all, many kids with disabilities or elementary school would have a hard time focusing that long of a time without their traditional three month summer break. Second, the more breaks students have might make it harder to focus before and after breaks. Before breaks many kids would be excited to
The purpose of a high school education is to prepare one for college and ultimately, the workforce. By the end of freshman year, in high school, the average student has learned a sufficient amount of material in enough subjects that he or she can be considered "well-rounded" in his or her studies. This is because the rate at which material is covered in schools, across the nation, has increased dramatically compared to the past. Students now learn more advanced curriculum at a younger age, and this continues to become more evident year after year. High school has now become more focused on teaching students a small amount of information on several essential subjects, rather than having them focus deeply on the subjects they seek to pursue in their career.
There are many opinions and studies about reforming school days. Some people are concerned that longer school days would bring more difficulties. However, there are numerous studies and practical examples that prove that we improve students’ performance by lengthening school days. Finally, the economy and our society will benefit from expanding school days.
In the world, Education is an important key when attempting to apply for a job. Most of them require a college degree or higher. High school students shouldn't take a year off before entering college. When doing so they decide to not continue school, forget the requirements needed to remain in college, and stay in college more years than expected for graduating.
Should the school year be is a topic that has been under discussion for many years. Many believe that the school year is just fine while others may argue that it should be extended. Getting an education has become more demanding and there is also more information that students are to learn before entering the real world of college and life beyond. There are also many days that students have off such as holidays, breaks, and snow days.
...ke school something that the students can look back on and think that it was a meaningful time where they learned a lot about life instead of a time where they thought they would have a break down because they got a low score on a test. School should be a time to make mistakes in a safe environment that they can learn from, not a place that they are petrified to make a mistake for fear of retribution on their grade cards. Its time to change the school system to save future students from becoming stress crazed and to let them know that there is more to this world than a grade card and in the long run it is a very small fraction of life.
