Why did you choose to meet with the professor of this course? I chose to meet with my general biology instructor, Dr. Carmichael, for several reasons. One was that his class was the one that I had chosen for my five day study plan, so I thought he would be able to advise me on how he recommends his students study for the exam. Anther I decided to meet with him was that he told us from the very first day of class that he is fair man; he has always appeared down to earth and caring, so he did not intimidate me as much as some of my other professors. The final thing that influenced my decision about who to meet with was that I think that out of all of my classes, biology is the class that I struggle with the most. What kinds of fears or concerns did you have going into this meeting? My major concerns in regard to the professor meeting were that of …show more content…
During this meeting we addressed several things such as how I was doing in the class, majors, and the upcoming exams. I told him that I felt as though I was doing fine in the class, and he agreed. We discussed how I had changed majors a couple of times, and he reassured me that I had plenty of time to figure out what I want to major in. We also discussed the exam that will take place on November 13th, 2014. We talked about how I felt that I was well prepared and how I will just attend the review session and look over my notes. What kinds of suggestions or recommendation did your professor give you? Will you apply these recommendation in the future? Why or why not? Dr. Carmichael suggested that I continue working hard and participating in class. He said that he thinks I am doing well in the class and do not need to worry so much. This is not really much of a suggestion or a recommendation, but more of a validation of what I have been doing. With this information I will continue studying hard, taking notes, and completing all assignments and quizzes before their due
Professor McConnell is very inspiring in the way she teaches her class, and handles herself in class very gracefully, and professionally. Professor McConnell always encourages her students to do their very best, and if they have a problem Professor McConnell is always willing to listen. In this writing we are going to learn a little bit more about Professor McConnell. Moreover Professor McConnell is a very kind, and gracious person. She is distinguished in the way the Professor McConnell treats her students in her class. Also, if the other students cannot see this in Professor McConnell they should, because she gives so much of herself. With that said you will learn what her first profession was, and what brought her to her job today, and what she sees for herself in the future.
I froze. I felt my smile fading away and my tendency to overthink going into action immediately. What do I do? What if I say something wrong? What if I don’t do enough? Other underclassmen often asked me about my experience in certain classes
session, I found myself reflecting on why I felt so uneasy and nervous about participating in an
When he searched and worked for information, he learned more than when it was simply handed to him. A few methods I intend to use this semester to create opportunities for myself involve organization and relationships. Sanders mentions that when he didn’t do the reading, his grade suffered and he did not learn what he needed, so I intend to write down everything (projects, homework, reading assignments) in my planner so I don’t miss deadlines. As long as I keep up with every assignment and all of the reading, I will be able to learn the content even if the professor does not teach as effectively as I would like. Sanders also mentions that he was not pleased with the professor and he complained that the professor did not teach well, but he does not suggest that he interacted with the professor outside of class. I will try to interact with the professors out of class to form better bonds. By maintaining a good relationship with the professors, I may be able to get more help or I may be told about more programs that can help me by supplementing my education or by giving me opportunities to apply that education.
This course and as in Honors Biology, we were taught in a more oneself teaching rather than a lecture. I like the idea of not having a lecture, but when the teacher took a day to do a quick overview of each chapter, I learned the material and understood the material the best. I wish that we had that in each unit because I truly do like biology and when I understand a new concept fully it made me feel 10 times more comfortable on the test and the
I had a wonderful experience of taking his class and enjoyed learning the course material. Professor S.B. relies on students’ participation and engagement in class activities. Passive recipients of information have no chances to succeed in his class. Math is a subject where critical thinking skills are extremely important; therefore, making students to think out of the box is the key factor to understand the material. Assigning a lot of problems for homework gives students the opportunity to master knowledge and retain information. Exams that looked different from what was taught in class were applications of material from the book. Instead of going straight forward from the book, the professor made sure that students can apply their knowledge. Definitely, professor’s intention is to prepare students for the next courses and make them responsible for their own learning. Although a few students were able to pass his course, all of them benefited from professor’s help and explanations. I would rate him as a great professor who maintained standards and made students master the subject.
This was my first time ever interviewing a professor. I had interviewed students before, but it was never as intimidating as interviewing a professor. I thought that the professor would in a way rush through the interview, but I was wrong. My professor listened and made sure that all my questions were answered, and after the interview, I felt that there is more than just students to go to when help is needed professors are always there too. I do not regret giving the interview, for it was a new experience and I found it very helpful. I was personally evaluated by a professor. It felt good to know that there are certain things I need to work on in order to be more successful. I wasn 't let down at all I took the evaluations as advice, and I love good advice. I now feel that I could go up to any professor and not worry about the feeling of being intimidated. This interview showed me how much the professors care for my overall well-being both inside and outside of college. I learned that professors know a lot and they also have a lot of advice to give. I was also told to make sure that I plan things out before hand instead of just adjusting to them as they came up. I was surprised when the professor told me to make sure that I know how a lot of things work in college, and that I shouldn’t wait until my senior year to learn new things, for that 's the mistake he made. With good explanation,
In the course of this semester of writing, I grew more than I ever had in my ability to write well. I remember on the first day of class several other students were talking about how hard this writing professor is. I was a bit worried and even thought about switching to an easy professor for a guarantee A so I can get a 4.0. Now, I am grateful that I chose to decide to work hard for a 4.0 instead. Even though I may not get it, I am still glad I stayed because for once, I learned and became a better writer. I can see that my knowledge of conventions definitely improved from last semester. I really loved the feedback for my assignments, since it allows me to realize what I need to improve on and what I should keep doing. Unlike the previous semester, the writing professor only told us our grade on the very first assignment after two months. There were no feedback on how I could improve either, so I had no idea if I was having trouble with anything. Prior to this course, I always had trouble writing sentences and organizing them in such a way that flows and delivers my idea well. I also rarely outline or plan out how I will write a paper too, and even when I did, it was very vague. Out of the five learning outcomes, I grew the most in rhetoric knowledge and writing process from the reading responses and 4 assignment.
He would notice when he was not being passionate and enthusiastic about his teaching. In the midst of his teaching, he would recognize when he was not doing his job correctly. It made me think about how there are professors out there who go home and reflect on the way they teach their students. That care is so essential and dear to me that I would respect and put more effort into engaging in a class if I knew that much about what my professors think and reflect.
The Rabbi was very attentive when talking to each individual. I could tell he really cared about your well being and was very interested in what you had to say. The students were dressed formal for the special dinner. When going to shabbat meals I like to wear a dress or a skirt and a nice blouse. A lot of the college students were dressed up with makeup and their hair was curly and some straightened it.
My first class in my link was sociology, initially I wanted to take psychology, but I still wanted to learn the sociological aspect to define people’s actions. I passionately enjoyed taking sociology, because it helped me study people and understand who they are by observing their actions. I enjoyed learning from Professor Parker, sociology is a hard subject to learn, however Professor Parker had the patience to explain all his lessons slowly and carefully for his students. As well as providing extra help by continuously responding back to e-mails students have sent him over the semester with meaningful help. The hardest lesson I had in Sociology is writing a clear thesis. Professor Parker has continuously helped me develop clear thesis statements, and I believe without his help I wouldn’t have been able to write many of my essays. I do still need extra practice until I’m a professional at writing thesis statements. Howeve...
Of course, don’t take the title too seriously. Taking good care of your teeth and mouth today is as much important as taking care of your body as a whole. However, there are destructive dental habits that are guaranteed to damage your teeth.
I was very pleased that I did not have to look at my notecards once throughout the entire speech. I was also pleased that my face did not turn bright red. Every time I have to present in front of an audience my face gets red and my voice starts to shake. I think I did not get too nervous for this speech because I practiced it close to fifty times. I also practice my speech in front of my family which gave me that type of
I chose to do my teacher interview in my home town at Richard D. Crosby Elementary School. This K-3rd grade building is very new, it was built in 2010. It has 4 pods, one for each grade level and has a large discovery center in each pod. The school is very colorful, with each pod a different color so the children find it easy to go from area to area. I did my interview with Mrs. Doe, a special education teacher. Her room has a lot of materials for learning and is set up to have several work stations for group activities. Mrs. Doe shares her students with other special education teachers and also has a special education classroom aide. My research question is how does a teacher’s perspective on learning reflect theories and concepts in educational psychology? Mrs. Doe is faced with many challenges in her classroom, overcrowding, multi-cultural differences, learning disabilities, several students with low socioeconomic status and English language learners. There are many challenges for Mrs. Doe to deal with, but she has been teaching for 21 years and has a lot of experience. She started out as a regular classroom teacher, but switched to special education and has done so well that when she asked if she could return to the regular classroom setting, the Superintendent begged her to stay in the special education department because of her success.
I truly appreciated and loved the speakers that came in. They were all very entertaining, informative, and they made me think about what it was that I wanted to do. Being able to hear their experiences and what they had to say honestly about their jobs was a good experience and being able to talk to them afterward or ask questions was very nice. The speakers were one of my favorite parts of this class, and Ms. Black was my favorite out of all of them since she talked about her struggles and the hard parts of the job. Additionally, I liked thinking about what schools I could go to and what options I could have there.
