Actions speak louder than words is a somewhat common statement but “actions” stand for more than just what a person does or the actions that they take, it can also stand for the way a person acts, or more specifically their body language and other forms of non-verbal communication. When it comes to a person’s body language you can often tell much quicker and more accurately how someone actually feels as opposed to just listening to the words that they are saying, in some cases it can be seen as their “real” feelings. Illustrations are used the same way, they hold the attention of readers, communicate content of information, and give insight of a particular event. There are eight types of illustrations: compare/contrast, personal experiences, processes, facts, quotations, case studies, examples, and statistics. My main focus, however, will be examples, facts, and quotes.
Your tone of voice can tell someone if you are happy, sad, angry and even nervous. Think on a time when you were a child and you knew by the tone of your mother’s voice when she called you if you were in trouble or if your secret was kept a day longer. Facial expressions can be a tell sign on if you are listening, or angry, happy, irritated and it can tell if there is something you are confused about or if you are comprehending what you are reading or hearing. Body language can tell if you are comfortable, scared, tired, excited, intimidated or defensive to name a few. Some people even say that your body language can give away if you are lying or not.
The biggest way that my actions affect other people is that of betrayal. Other people trust me with responsibilities, and when I take a negative action towards that trust it decreases. On the other hand, if I have a positive reaction towards the trust that awarded to my behalf, then I am trusted with more and bigger responsibilities. Trust comes in many shapes and forms, and there are too many people in the world today for us to not go a day without someone relying on us in some way. There are many things that we are obliged to do on a daily basis.
Every communication interaction involves two parts: the verbal and the nonverbal. Furthermore, every person is always communicating even when they are not saying a word, thus, it is possible to send an exclusively nonverbal message but it is not possible to send an exclusively verbal message. Nonverbal cues in the interaction are always more powerful indicators of what a speaker means and what the speaker feels. Consider a very simple example: a mother tells her two-year old to stop running around the house but as she makes her direction, she is smiling. The toddler gets two messages: verbally to stop running; nonverbally the smile means mom is pleased with what he is doing. Which direction will the child follow; probably, the second one - mom is pleased regardless of her words so he will continue doing what he was doing.

People say that they will do things differently all of the time, but more often than not, they don’t. Therefore, actions are louder than words.
According to Dr. Charles & Dr. Elizabeth, words are cheap and actions mean everything. Everyone can say everything they want, but when they say and no actions, it totally means nothing. What they say and do is totally contrary, and this shows actions speak louder than words. For example, a person tells his friends that he can speaks and communicates well with the foreigners after few months in oversea, but in reality, it shows that he could not speak fluent English and communicate well with the foreigner. What he said is totally different from what he acts. What he said is totally a lie, because what he said is empty and it is worst without any actions.
It has been said on many occasions that actions speak louder than words. I agree with this statement for many reasons. One example is if someone says they are someones, but then goes and talks and spreads rumors behind their back. Also in a marriage if one of the people in the relationship are cheating on the other, but tells their spouse they love them. That is a big example of how actions speak louder than words.
In my life I had never thought about what counted more actions or words. However, now I firmly realize how much more actions can speak than words. Because you can say you’re going to do something great, but it won’t be very impressive than if you actually did it which is why actions are way more effective than words.

Cuddy’s talk “how body language shapes who you are” explains how body language can identify how much power one is feeling just by observing someone’s body language. This does not mean that they are bored or annoyed with the speaker; it can be a gesture that they are comfortable with. Viewing gestures as a whole will prevent these misunderstandings. Non-verbal gestures are not only physical, for example; the tone of voice addressing a child will be different from the way it is addressed to an adult.
