Just last month, a same-sex couple were asked to leave a public pool in Texas when a lifeguard told them kissing was not permitted, although straight swimmers apparently kiss without fear of being thrown out. A few years ago, L-Word actress Leisha Hailey was ejected from a Southwest fight after kissing her girlfriend. She tweeted: “Flt. Attendant said that it was a ‘family’ airline and kissing was not ok.” Southwest responded that the incident was based solely on behavior and not on gender.” This article implies that even in US wherein majority of its population accepts the LGBTQ+ community, PDA still have restrictions. You can’t just do PDA wherever and whenever you want. People might defend it by just saying you just want to show how much you love or care for that person but there are places that you’re not allowed to do
In certain countries such as the U.S, people discriminate against others to a certain extent based off their gender, race, and sexuality. Gays and Lesbians have to be exposed to the world because some of them try to hide their identity of who they truly are because they are afraid of how others are going to look at them. Physical appearance, gesture and body movement, face and eye behavior, vocal behavior, personal space, touch, scent/smell, and time are all forms of nonverbal communication behavior. Norms differ amongst various cultures, ethnic, and geographic groups. There are endless ways and forms to violate nonverbal norms, and by doing so can lead to a barrier in communication, which are problematic to distinguish.

When I complement her on her success at the SKILLSUSA competition, she smiles, gives me a tight hug, and then says thank you. Other ways we use haptics is by giving hi-fives for an achievement. This demonstrates the kinesics communication with the smile and haptics communication with the embrace and hi-five. The haptics communication characteristics could also be a part of her culture values. My coworker is Mexican and their tradition is to greet with a hug and kiss. Furthermore, women tend to engage in touching more than men. Touching is perceived differently by culture and is continued in the work life of many people, regardless of gender or culture. Sixty-one years ago the world would never accept anyone from the LGBT community. They were dealing with unjust behavior every time they were seen in public. But in the last 20 years more people are coming out “the closet”, there has been many protest and gatherings, and Laws have been enforced to help the growth of the LBGT community. “When all Americans are treated as equal, no matter who they are or whom they love, we are all more free” (Barrock Obama).
