Emergency Care Plan: Ms. Lowe confirmed that the children would be taken care of in an event of a hospitalization. The three videos that I observed are Case Social Worker, Addictions Therapists, and Child Find Specialist. The video I observed was the Case Social Worker the interview with Sue Dowling (Dowling, S). The video was about a interview was with Sue Dowling, who currently works with the Social Service Department in the Arlington Massachusetts area, and is an ongoing assessment social worker. Dowling noted in the interview that there are three phases in the Department of Social Services. The first phase is an intake or investigations. The second phase is the assessment. The third phase is the on-going assessment. The intake or investigation is an investigation of the complaint. When a social worker gets a complaint or issues they must conduct a 10 day investigation. As directed by the municipal court, the judge appointed the social work and probation officer to follow guidelines to check with Jasmine weekly for the first month to see that she follows with Housing First and that she does not get in trouble with law. Mr. and Mrs. Cortez have been Resource Parents with Kern Bridges Youth Homes for six years. Mr. and Mrs. Cortez continue to have Keeli Dodson, Bradley Cole and Marcos Rodriguez placed in their home. They also have Cheyanne Combs in their home as an adult after she aged out of foster care. Since the previous home study dated 11/11/2015, the Cortez’ report that Mrs. Cortez is primarily responsible for tasks inside the home, including paying the bills and cleaning. Mr. Cortez typically takes care of the outside chores and car maintenance. They stated that all family members have their assigned responsibilities with regard to keeping the household running. As both mother and child need assistance in a number of different areas, from a number of different agencies/professionals, there needs to be a central facilitator to coordinate all of the working parts. This case manager will contact, facilitate, and coordinate these services in a way that will efficiently provide the care and assistance Almeada and her child needs so that neither becomes lost in the system (Woodside & McClam, 2015, p. 21). The increase of child abuse has risen all over the world. The abuse is getting worse, more and more children are being abused each day. Melissa J. Doak says in, “Causes and Effects on Child Abuse”, Rated that 1.5% of the countries children were confirmed victims of abuse in 1996. 77% parents were the abusers. 11% says that relatives were the abusers. More than 1,000 U.S. children die from abuse. 40 million children ages 14 and younger suffer from the abuse and neglect” (Cause). Neglect is the failure to satisfy a child’s basic needs. This can assume in many forms. Experts say, “The main neglect is physical neglect. Parents fail to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter, or supervision. In 1996, neglect was the finding in 52% if the confirmed abuse cases” (Cause). Another form of neglect is emotional neglect. This is the failure to satisfy a child’s normal emotional needs, or behavior that damages a child’s normal emotional and psychological development (such as permitting drug abuse in the home). Without emotional needs, the child could have a struggle growing up not knowing any love or any emotions toward people.

Robyn Lewis is a single mother of two boys. Since their birth her life has revolved only around them and even with them grown up and in college she still takes a great interest in them. Lewis serves as a “secretary mom” for her sons, organizing their lives, proofreading papers and doing their laundry. Her sons, both say that they are grateful for their mother’s efforts and Lewis takes great pride in being able to help them balance their lives.
