Rhetoric is language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect on its audience. Propaganda is an example of rhetoric. Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or view. In both propaganda and rhetoric, there are rhetorical appeals used: ethos, pathos, and logos. In George Orwell's Animal Farm, all three are used throughout the novel to draw attention to it. Orwell used ethos in the beginning of his book. Ethos is the rhetorical appeal pertaining to ethics, moral, or credibility.
