Introduction During this course, self-talk and inner speech have played important roles and have been the foundation of the majority of the concepts discussed. These unique capabilities that humans possess are extremely important to our success as a species, due to the fact that they pair with our ability to communicate with one another as well as interact with the world around us. One of these such aspects is ethical communication. Expanding on this aspect, the question is proposed of what role does inner speech, self-talk, and imagined interactions play in having ethical communications on interpersonal and organizational levels. This proposed question is important in the fact that it takes three important forms of communication and poses …show more content…

The world that we live in is a very diverse and complicated environment, with an endless amount of different thoughts and morals. Without using Imagined Interactions in conjunction with inner speech, any of these interactions would be difficult. This would be very apparent if you were to be placed in anytime of group that had a common goal, especially if you are in any type of leadership position.
When in a leadership position, it is imperative that you communicate your ideas in a manner that is accepted by your audience. This is where being aware of ethical communication and able to communicate thusly, is an incredible quality to have as it embodies all the traits a good leader should have. From Integrity and truthfulness to reasonable logic, using ethical communication would help build relationships between the leader and their subordinates, as well as those placed in higher authority

...r staff and colleagues and not only give orders. This involves giving feedbacks, constructive and positive. Constructive feedback guides the employee in the right direction or path. Positive feedback praises and encourages the employee when they complete a task well. Above all we have seen the importance of interpersonal communication in the form of one-to-one basis. This serves as a greatest opportunity for an effective two way dialogue or discussion. All these characteristic allow open and free flow communication which results in employee engagement and critical thinking among them. Another important aspect of a good leadership communication is that they think about the message from the team’s perspective. Above all, good listening is a major attribute of good leadership communication. These are some of the important traits of a good leadership communication.
Ethical leadership organizational ethics and socially responsibility are inseparable (Johnson). Leadership is not a inherited gift or family heritage; it is not a degree from an ivy league graduate school. Becoming a leader is an intentional process of growth that must be lived out experientially (Mullane). Ethical leaders demonstrate three distinctive characteristics, knowledge, action and character. Leaders have to have the ability to say “yes” or even “no” to a never ending series of challenges. A leader needs to be able to define their values, character and leadership style. When accepting the role of leadership you become encumbered by ethical issues and concerns. .
Thesis: Sometimes we decide to remain silent and ignore whats going on around us even when we know we are wrong. It's possible that when we stay quiet instead of talking, we can potentially be hurting ourselves or neglecting our responsibility to speak and make a difference in our surrounding. We will never be able to communicate adequately if we never practice our skills of proper communication. The most important thing is to know when to speak.
.... I have a plan in order to maintain growth and development in all three types of communication. Primarily and most obviously, I must consciously practice all of the skills and knowledge I have learned. Secondly, not being afraid to ask for, and accept, constructive feedback from others will be a huge contributor to recognizing and following up with needs for improvement in any communication areas. Finally, sharing what skills and knowledge I have gained in this class with others will help to improve and maintain my own communication skills by surrounding myself with an environment filled with people who are also competent communicators. The more people who understand effective communication, the better the understanding between each person in society overall. I hope to follow through with all of these propositions to become an even better communicator in the future.
One basic context of communication is interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication can be defined as “the ongoing, ever- ch...

As we use communication in our day-to-day living, there should be an assurance that the sender and the receiver should be able to communicate properly or else communication is not effective after all. The sender should be able to deliver the message as clear and concise as possible so that the receiver will understand and grasp the message well. On the other hand, the receiver should be wise enough and process the message well so as to avoid misunderstanding. However, we could not avoid that there are certain barriers when it comes to communication- different values, beliefs and personality, bad grammar and wrong word choice are few of the factors that complicate communication. Consequently, there is a way to avoid complications in communication. It is advisable to have communication face-to-face. In this certain manner...
Interaction is a significant part of our daily lives. Oral communication with others is inevitable, and therefore it is crucial for us to acquire the skills to do so correctly. Aside from simply stating words or expressing ideas, oral communication serves various purposes. Oral communication allows an individual to express emotions, ideas, and feelings; it gives people the ability to empower, inspire, and motivate those who listen; and it allows people to share knowledge and traditions, as well as build their self-esteem. Oral communication is also useful in leading us to new discoveries, ideas, cultures, and perspectives (O’Neill). Thus, oral communication serves several different purposes in daily life; yet each of these purposes are connected to an even larger purpose. According to the textbook Communication: Making Connections, “Effective communication is critical to living successfully in today’s soc...
Communication ethics questions ones personal narratives about what is good, bad, right and wrong. It makes us question communication and observe not only what drives us to do what we do but what drives the other person in a communication situation as well. Ethics determines how we enter situations, react to events and ultimately carry out our daily routines. The purpose of taking COM 380 Communication Ethics is to be able to successfully carry out ethical communication in both our public and private life. This course has one question that must be determined; “What is communication ethics literacy, and how does it affect the role of ethics in our communication and interactions?” This question makes us learn as individuals by actively listen to other people and engage the idea of diversity of ideas
As in all aspects of personal and professional life, having effective communication is a key element of success. Effective communication can benefit your relationships with people. By conveying your message and integrating them as a member of the team and not just a subordinate leads to better production. By effectively communicating you can clearly define job responsibilities and expectations. The better you are able to communicate the less likely organizational turnover of personnel will occur. Supervisors and leaders in the professional workplace find that the most important factor in advancement and retain ability is effective communication. Senior level executives and human resources managers are stressing the importance of communication and providing more training for mid-level management. Emphasis is placed on communication being clear by being transmitted strongly.
I believe that I have learned a lot in this class for the past ten weeks. At the beginning, I thought this class would only teach about how to make ethical decisions when we have a problem. However, it turned out that I learned beyond that. Not only I have acquired the lesson about ethics, I also learn to interact with people around me whom I never met before this class started. As Professor Lopez mentioned, BUS-L375 is a discussion class. As a shy type of person, I always prefer listening to other people rather than talking. The reason is because I don’t like being in the center of attention in the class. I do realize that my English is still lacking and it makes me lose confidence when it comes to talking. However, after seeing how Professor
One of the main aspects in communicating is listening. An effective listener is one who, not only comprehends how the speaker feels but, also understands what they are stating. Building a strong connection between the speaker and the listener is one of the first steps to become a good listener. By building this connection speakers should first be in an environment with open minded listeners, it makes them feel more comfortable to state their opinions, feelings and ideas. Listeners should avoid being judgmental. The individual does not have to agree with the ideas, values or opinions of the speaker; however, to fully understand them, one must put aside their criticism. Speakers will believe that they can trust the listeners with their information when they know that they will not be judged. Miscommunication happens frequently, listene...
