6.1 Suggestions
One of the most important issues that need to be addressed is the role of the teacher and the methods that they follow. The survey has revealed an irrelevance between what the curriculum proposes and what is actually happening in the classrooms. Most of the teachers have a traditional notion of their role as teachers which influence their teaching processes. The digital natives and immigrant gap still exists. “A major problem world-wide in the field of language teaching is the popular belief that anyone who can speak a language can teach it. The fact is, however, that language teaching requires a special combination of knowledge and skills that is always hard to find, and finding teachers who have it should be the first concern of any good administration” (Eskey.1982 in Pennington, 1989). According to Aggarwal (1984:112-113), the Commission observes that “any method, good or bad links up the teacher and his pupils into an organic relationship with constant mutual interaction …..Every teacher and educationist knows that even the best curriculum and the most prefect syllabus remain dead unless quickened into life by the right methods of teaching by the right kind of teachers”. In addition to these constraints, natural calamities create a menace. The teachers find it difficult to complete the syllabus if the working days are shortened due to heavy rain or cyclone or any other natural disasters. To overcome this problem in the term system, the portions of the particular term can be carried out to the next term. Reeves JR (2005) highly recommends that the teachers’ attitude towards the classroom management lies in managing time in completing the syllabus. The teachers shall prepare their lesson plan with the anticipation of time constraints in future.
6.2 Limitations of the study
This research has intended to present a broad study of the Tamil Nadu Samacheer ( Equitable Education) English syllabus, but due to the time bound certain limitations have abound which includes the following.
• A larger sample population in the study from different parts of Tamil Nadu focusing on both Tamil Medium and English Medium could give more response and a broader range of
