Stand Up is a program developed to promote good posture and physical activity to high school students. This means encouraging them to use all available resources and educating them on the benefits of being active and practicing good posture. Sitting for extended periods is common among high school students. This is due to having long school days and being an electronically oriented age group. Two CDC risk addressed in my program are behaviors that result in intentional injury and physical inactivity. I plan on implementing this program to help improve posture and physical activity among high school students to hopefully reduce possibility of lower back pain and obesity in this population.
Which is why my goals for this program are to educate

I have set up to have two separate meetings, one for teachers and one for students. I want to be able to open up my program to students of every age, gender and ethnicity. The more students I am able to educate that is one less student who can possibly suffer from back pain. I would conduct these weekly meetings in the sports medicine lab where I will have the team member of the club lead the activities. I will also ask speakers from different backgrounds with knowledge on back pain come visit. Because of the young population I want the weekly meetings to be informative but fun. That being said there would be different things throughout a whole year that I would want to address. These include, sports in relation to back pain, how to use correct posture in sports and at school, exercises and stretches to reduce back pain, and why use of good posture is important. The meetings will only be 30 minutes long and I will set up to have a school bus that could come pick up the students to take them home if needed. The meetings for teachers would be very similar in nature but would bring in professionals to help teachers come up with teaching plans that include stretching breaks and different activities that will allow students to move and understand material teacher is

Standing desks keeps kids healthy. Sitting down for long periods of time is unhealthy. Also, 15-20% more calories are burned when kids stand up rather than sitting. Fidget bars are inexpensive bars that go on the bottom of desks and you can slide your feet back and forth on them and they help kids use up their energy so won’t they won’t be super hyper and they can focus on their work better.
Honorable, kindhearted, memorable, and powerful all describe the famous king in the book, The Story Of King Arthur, written by Robin Lister. King Arthur is very honorable and kindhearted because people could always count on him to rule safly. Lancelot, a noble knight who loved Guinevere, the queen, sent a message to king Arthur asking him to keep Guinevere safe. Despite what happened between Lancelot and Guinevere, King Arthur decides to leave her out of the battle. Answering Lancelot he said “He would gladly welcome his queen, whom he had forgiven long ago. At the same time he would sadly prepare to fight”(151). He was starting to feel remorse about sending Guinevere to be burned to death.
Detail : I should make speeches in the future that could affect my listeners. For example, If i was talking about the stress of social media, I would talk to a younger audience because they are more likely to use social media. If someone feels that personally connection, they will be engaged with my speech.
I have been a student at Heriot-Watt University for two semesters, and over the course of my stay I have grown and learned more than I thought possible. Going through the Approaches to learning program (APL) has taught me so much more, like oral presentation skills. It helped me to grow self-confidence. I did not just develop my self-confidence but I have learned here how to search for relevant information relating to the specific topic given and learned critical thinking as well. Most importantly I have learned how important oral presentation is.
This is the best solution because it relates to a school problem and a medical problem. This is good because it will help kids and parents because kids will not be complaining about how much their backs hurt after school parents they will not have to keep buying anymore backpacks wasting all of their money on over 5 backpacks a year the we kids use because of how it hurts.
For some, standing up in front of an assembly and presenting a speech is no huge deal. For others the concept of speaking in public is the most freighting situation imaginable. There are many steps a speaker can take to be better prepared to give a speech including the following steps. Before a presentation is ever given, a strong speech must be written to keep the attention of an audience. Next, confidence is crucial and without it the likelihood of failure rises. If these simple steps are followed then the act of giving a speech should be much easier.
The second chapter in The Humor Code by Peter McGraw and Joel Warner is titled, “Los Angeles- Who is Funny?” In this chapter they discussed both stand-up as well as improv, which are both very popular types of comedy, especially here in the United States. Both types of comedy are difficult because it is live, and you cannot undo and try again. Is there really is a difference between stand-up and improv? There is a definite difference between stand-up and improv because they are two totally different types of comedy.
Public speaking will always be one of my biggest weaknesses in my life. It’s not the fear of a one sided conversation, it’s the public spot light. Over time I have learned to control this fear. I personally believe there are 3 key characteristics that are essential to effective communication; the first is having a clear, concise message. People need to understand what you are saying with little to no struggle on their behalf. This is the main point of a speech, you have something to say to me, I will listen to your message. The second characteristic is adherence to the facts; you must know the actualities about what you are talking about. Without knowing the facts, your message is not trusted, and you will lose your audience because
When I first saw that I had to take Public Speaking, I was disappointed. I was uttering to myself, why I must take public speaking. I previously knew how to speak to people, because I speak to people every day, in passing, at work, and at home. Then analysis the syllabus for the course and apprehending that I had to speak in front of strangers9( classmates), oh no, I was not prepared for that.
Long days and short day yet we have 24 every day, how does this happen? With some words that we might hear when we talk about someone we want to be, strong, brave, full of integrity, and respectful. Strong has many definitions in many of eyes it where you can take the bull by the horns, I use strong normally to replace fearful or to not show the fear. Some might say that what my strong is, is brave but brave is the action of free falling . Like the fear for heights you jump out of a perfectly good plane to show your brave I see it that your strong to go in the air and jump out of the plane but being brave is when you’re falling. Integrity, actions that are done when someone or no one is around, you see more character when someone has excellent integrity. The largest matter to many is respect, so many version of respect is out there though. Respect for others caring about others but not being rude. This could be having a different view then someone but that might not matter because you understand that they might see things differently, yet you don 't judge and you actually could be glad to think that everyone doesn’t think the same. With different view can make the world better taking a few good ideas and combining them to make a great idea. Another
If there is one way to bring a smile to someone’s face, it is laughter. Funny jokes, comical stunts, sarcasm- Every person is different when it comes to what makes them laugh. Some find dry humor comical. Others think sarcasm or joke-filled ranting are the best. ‘Comedy’ is such a broad term, broad enough to allow everyone to find something they find comical. In fact, ‘comedy’ includes a specific type of drama, one where the protagonist is joyful and happy endings are expected. Comedy is like a drug; it allows you to escape reality. When we say the word ‘comedy’ in the present, we are generally referring to a type of performance which provides humor. However, in its broadest sense, comedy has only one purpose: comedy makes people smile and
The Oral Stage: This is the beginning process from birth where we use our mouth as our main source of interaction we use it for feeding and comfort such as savoring. If there is an error in this process dependency and aggression problems develops resulting in drinking, eating and smoking problems in the future. (Cherry (n.d))
In the HPE learning areas students will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable them to enhance and maintain their physical, mental, social and emotional health. Great importance is placed on having a healthy lifestyle and engaging in physical activity not only in the lives of individuals but also their wider community. The curriculum supports students to make decisions and take actions that promote their health, safety and physical activity participation. HPE also focuses on the attainment of movement skills, concepts and strategies that enable students to participate confidently, competently and creatively in a range of physical activities (ACARA, 2014). Five key propositions shape the HPE curriculum today. HPE curriculum
My classes' abilities range from high to very low. The highest of my students can read, speak in full descriptive sentences, respond creatively, and appropriately to thought provoking questions. Whereas, my lowest students know only a couple letters of the alphabet, have difficulty coming up with meaningful sentences and often answer questions with statements that have no bearing on the subject matter. My biggest challenge when planning for this period of instruction was to find a way to actively involve all of my students and offer success for everyone, regardless of skill level. I decided to have stations where 4 students, at a time, would be engaged in stimulating activities and where there would be very little "wait"...
