Serrated knives has no huge difference in its purpose with plain blade knives. It is used for paring, peeling and slicing, its appearance and extra purpose only set it apart from the rest. The jagged edge on serrated knives are designed for purpose of cutting through textured or fibrous materials such as ropes, fabrics, and most vegetables, bread, meat and fruits. Technically, it worked like a saw that cuts through the material in back and forth motion, the pointed sharp teeth providing better leverage for cutting. Like most knives, it also dull out with time and its blunt edge could only create unpleasant fraying at the cut area. Sharpening a serrated knife does not follow the general process of sharpening other plain blade tools because it can create damage or cause misalignment of the serration. Aggressive sharpeners can remove the metal that would totally end the knife in waste. Most common examples of serrated knives are bread and butter knives, steak, rigging, some pocket, kitchen and table knives.
Sharpening a serrated knife requires specialized equipment that could cater its delicate need. It also needs special skill and

Chef’sChoice® Diamond Hone® EdgeSelect® Knife Sharpener Model 120. ($120.12 amazon). The EdgeSelect feature of this sharpener is designed in polishing edges of gourmet, sporting and butcher knife, as well as serrated 20 degrees knives. This professional sharpener has three stages of sharpening using 100% diamond abrasives. The Stage 1 has fine diamond coated disk that would create the microgrooves for angle bevel. In its stage 2, the more fine diamond defines the second bevel to produce the cut for sharp edge. The abrasive polish disk and strop in Stage 3 defines the boundary of this microgrooves for better finish and is designed to combat the wear and tear of the metal no matter how frequent the sharpening could be. But in order to protect the metals in the serration, only the Stage 3 slot is used for sharpening serrated
If the blade did not hit the exact spot on the neck it would become as though it was an axe. It would hack away until the head came off. After all the chopping, the blade will often become dull. Throughout the revolution, the blade was changed, it became angled. The angling of the blade helps kill faster.
285) These types of injuries usually come from knives, axes, or other weapons like that. In some instances, a sharp trauma will look like a line across the bone. So, if someone is not trained in knowing what these marks are, they can be easily over looked. According to Byers (2011) “sharp trauma is the result of narrowly focused, dynamic compression forces applied to the surface of a bone.” (p. 285) Unlike blunt or projectile trauma, sharp force will be focused in a single area, unless the suspect us using an ax or machete there won’t be a large amount destruction to the bones. Using an ax or machete however can severely damage the bones that can look like blunt trauma. So, it is important for the forensic anthropologist to be able to distinguish between them.
Few Californians know hardly anything or nothing about California’s founding father. Fourth graders go on a field trip to a mission to learn about missions and then return to their regular lives, never wondering about missions again. Few of those children return to visit a mission. There is a chance that a few know of California’s founding father and who he was. Father Junipero Serra is that founding father who is just as important as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and several others. However he was a different founding father, a religious one who shaped California. Junipero Serra by Steven W. Hackel delves into Junipero Serra’s life and how he lived. Father Serra, a devoted Catholic, “devoted himself to the universalism of Catholicism, the suppression of individualism, and the renunciation of materialism.” (242)
In 1893, Queen Lili’uokalani of Hawaii gave up her throne to the United States of America. About five years after in 1898, Hawaii was officially annexed and became a part of the U.S.A. During this time, the Hawaiian people were bitter and mournful as they watched the foreigners slowly take over their kingdom. Many foreigners came to Hawaii to achieve one goal, to increase the power of foreigners and decrease the power of Native Hawaiians. The kingdom of Hawaii was overthrown with the use of force and was unethically taken. Although Hawaii received benefits that were mainly in their economy, it still does not make up for the wrongful taking of the Hawaiian kingdom.
The sentencing of underage criminals has remained a logistical and moral issue in the world for a very long time. The issue is brought to our perspective in the documentary Making a Murderer and the audio podcast Serial. When trying to overcome this issue, we ask ourselves, “When should juveniles receive life sentences?” or “Should young inmates be housed with adults?” or “Was the Supreme Court right to make it illegal to sentence a minor to death?”. There are multiple answers to these questions, and it’s necessary to either take a moral or logical approach to the problem.
Many authors use symbolism to convey messages about society as a whole. One particular symbol which is trans-cultural and appears in much of literature is that of the blade. The blade in many cases embodies masculinity, honor, and courage. In the two stories “In a Grove” and Chronicle of a Death Foretold the authors use the motif of the blade to convey similar messages about the societies in which they take place. Both authors Akutagawa and Marquez use the motif to give an insight into views of honor and masculinity in the societies of Japan and Latin-American countries, respectively.
These alterations on both the sides of the producers and consumers are negative for many reasons. The foremost difference between the two styles is the forging process. While machine made blades usually rely on the stock removal process, swordsmiths generally use on a process called folding to forge swords. In this process, the layers of metal in the sword would be “folded in on itself around 10 to 16 times to remove impurities” and make it a more uniform piece of metal (Beginners). These folded metals are far superior to the stainless steel metal that is commonly found in replicas. For instance, the steel found in mass produced blades “lose the ‘bite’ of their edge after some use” (Motoyasu).

Healthcare is a necessity to sustain society. Dentistry is an area of healthcare that I feel extremely passionate about because access to proper dental care is limited, especially in the underserved communities. As an African American, I want to become a dentist and healthcare provider in the hopes of helping patients and adding to the diversification of the field. With a growing minority population in the United States, it has become apparent that there is a shortage of black dentists. This is problematic because underrepresented minorities are in great need of access to culturally connected dentists who understand their clinical needs as much as their lives and their challenges. I believe that when the profession includes a range of ethnicities
Picture yourself with a toothache or someone with poor hygiene and knowing you cannot do anything to change it without a dentist. A dentist is specialized individual that treats the diseases and conditions that affect the oral cavity.
In the past, diseased or damaged teeth could not be salvaged and in most cases, had to be pulled out. However, in the last three decades, endodontic dentistry has evolved to quite an extent and today, professionals trained in this specialty can help save teeth and repair any inherent damage. Common endodontic procedures include root canal therapy, fixing of broken teeth and repairing dental trauma.

A contract is an agreement between two parties in which one party agrees to perform some actions in return of some consideration. These promises are legally binding. The contract can be for exchange of goods, services, property and so on. A contract can be oral as well as written and also it can be part oral and part written but it is useful to have written contract otherwise issues can be created in future. But both the written as well as oral contract is legally enforceable. Also if there is a breach of contract, there are certain remedies for that which are discussed later in the assignment. There are certain elements which need to be present in a contract. These elements are discussed in the detail in the assignment. (Clarke,
