The History of Paintball
Paintball has had big impact in the history of the U.S in the last few years. Paintball is used all over the U.S to train soldiers and police in order for them to protect our country (Military Combat Training with Spyder Paintball Markers). In 1981 paintball was created and the first paintball guns were not even made for paintball, they were made for marking trees for sale or stray cattle that were to be sold (Woodward). Now, paintball is a world wide extreme sport played by professionals in tournaments all over the globe (Latest). Paintball has significantly changed since the first time it was played in 1981 and now.
Paintball started in 1981 and has grown a lot since then. Paintball was created by Charles Gaine, Hayes Noel, and Robert Gurnsey in 1981. Paintball guns were not originally used or made for paintball they were originally created for, they were made and used to mark stray cattle and to mark trees to be cut down. The group of friends played privately and slowly made a corporation called the National Survival Games Inc. This was the first paintball company to exist that was actually meant for paintball. Paintball became very popular fast in the time it came out. In 1989 there was about 75,000 players playing in fields across america. In the early 1990’s paintball executives tried and succeeded to add paintball guns to stores like sears saying that the game was for fun not for military training. This meant that stores across the country would start selling paintball equipment which grew the sport even more (Woodward). Paintball has grown a lot since it’s start, the equipment has gotten more safe and more efficient.

In conclusion, Paintball has gone through enormous changes throughout the time that it has been played. Paintball has grown a lot since when it was created and has turned into a professional sport. Paintball is also used to train our U.S troops and police officers! Paintball is now a much more safe sports and is changing the way people spend their spare time every weekend. Paintballs short history and ability to be used for military purposes could be keeping us safe today.
