Paintball Misrepresented Sport
When you here about paintball in the news, it's always a story of someone losing an eye or committing a crime. Is this what paintball is about? Definitely not!
Lets first start off by saying, that accusing the sport of paintball, for criminals vandalizing property with paintball markers (They are actually classified as markers, not guns, because they mark people, like in a game of tag), is like blaming the sport of baseball, for people that fight or injure people with bats. It's like accusing football for encouraging people to fight. Of course though, football is never blamed for that.
Some people also would like to say that paintball is too dangerous, and people get injured way too often because it's unsafe to play. The fact is, those people couldn't be more wrong. Paintball requires a mask to be worn on all public fields. Neck protectors and vests are also optional if you feel like it. Most people would probably be surprised to learn that players and referees take extra care to make sure that all the players are safe in a game. National averages even show that paintball has a lower injury rate than bowling and golf!
So how did those kids in the news loose an eye? Simple, they didn't wear the right protection and were probably playing on their own field, without refs and proper marker testing. Playing paintball without masks is the equivalent of playing tackle football with pads and helmets, which means someone could get hurt. Is football ever criticized for severe injuries? Almost never. So why should paintball be any different?
So, before you decide to criticize paintball, first go to you local field (here in Utah, you can go to Paintball Planet or Army Navy Surplus) and try a game. Then create your opinion.
Most people who go actually find it very fun. It gets your adrenaline pumping and has a frantic (but fun) feel to it. It also has some value. Playing the game a lot develops excellent hand-eye-coordination, teaches teamwork, trust, and careful planning.
People accumulate different feelings throughout the average day, yet there are usually no ways to adequately and legally let out those pent up frustrations. Dodgeball, luckily provides a solution. The author of an article named “The Weak Shall Inherit the Gym”, Rick Reilly, believes that “Dodgeball is one of the few times in life when you get to let out your aggressions, no questions asked (Reilly 2)”. In other words, this game is a unique and rare way to let out your daily emotions with a simple activity of throwing a ball at others. The effect of this game is only positive. You can throw balls at other people, relieve yourself of stress, and not injure them since the ball is made of a very soft material. There are in fact, much worse ways to release stress. One example is a school shooting. People who hold the opinion of banning dodgeball in order to keep everything safe and fair are being hypocrites since the frustrations which cannot be let out anymore can still be let out in ways that are significantly more detrimental to the school and it’s
It is a sporting equipment and as such we can easily connect it with fun and competition, it also has holes drilled for the fingers, which leads to a better grip, more control. On the other hand, it is heavy, thus it is something that wants to get away from you, it is hard to hold control of it, it needs those holes drilled if we want to somewhat control it.
This is because the equipment does not protect the important parts of the body that are most vulnerable to injuries. Furthermore, they also don’t make football players hit or tackle other players correctly, leading to serious injury and some have even died, due to concussions or other serious injuries.
Dodgeball was born over 200 years ago in Africa, where they used rocks to throw at each other and worked together as a team. The game is still played today and uses the same aspect of teamwork, but foam balls are used instead of rocks. Many people think that dodgeball is still too violent and shouldn’t exist. Dodgeball should not be banned in schools because it has health benefits, offers a challenge, and lets students look forward to going to school.
Do you want to abolish dodge ball? Is it really an apt game? Do you want your children to play this eradication activity? Dodge ball is perceived differently by many diverse individuals. Dodge ball has its pros and cons, but what do you think? While some critics covet it, others do not, like myself, who deems that this hazardous game is not a pertinent exercise for juvenile students.
Paintball is quite a new sport and is becoming more and more popular. It has been around since 1982, but professional paintball teams have just recently come together in 2002. The rules of paintball are not very complicated and are very concise. The game is very entertaining to play. There are also plenty of different types of products used to play the game. It is the one of the only sports that I am interested in and I hope that someday it could become a more popular sport.
Every sport has its tricks and ways of doing things the right way. You can assure anyone that the sport their child is playing is safe, because there is always a stronger, bigger, faster player than them. Personally, I believe football is a demanding sport that requires a lot of strength, and stamina. If you read the article “Hard Knocks” by Alan Schwarz, it gives a brief story about a young football player. “The autopsy showed that his brain was in the early stage of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, more commonly known as C.T.E.” Many football players die from this condition.
Is football Really what they say it is. There are many football hits that affect the human body after they retire. According to Jim Baumbach “Wesley Walker says he is in constant pain and cant sleep without medication. Even though football help kids have an active lifestyle, concussions are a risk at a young age, and if a concussion happens at a young age there can be a long term effects.
everybody. Players range from six to sixty, and are of any race or sex. There are many different ways to play, and an almost infinite amount of equipment for you to choose from. It is a great sport because of all the different types of equipment, and playing fields and other players can be found almost anywhere. Paintball is a very new sport. The first games were played by a few enterprising players who used cattle marking guns to play. Their paint was non-washable and expensive, costing up to a buck a ball. The first game was played on June 27, 1981. They played capture the flag against each other with Nel-Spot 007 pistols. The winner captured all the flags without firing a shot. In April of 1982, the first outdoor field was opened in Rochester, NY. Also in 1982 Paintball Marketing Incorporated was founded to market and distribute paintball products. In 1983 the first national championship was held with a $14,000 dollar purse. Also in 1983 the first foreign paintball field opened. In 1984 the sport was introduced to Australia and the first indoor field was opened in Buffalo, NY. From this point, paintball started to “snowball”, picking up interest in foreign countries and on the internet. New high-tech paintball products are invented all the time, making the sport increasingly more complex. Paintball has become a high-tech sport compared to the guns of the last couple of decades. For a long time, all of the guns ran off of 12 gram Co2 which would shoot up to 40 shots. The guns were pump action, and would hold a small amount of paint. The paint itself would cost up to a buck a ball. Masks were often safety or ski goggles. Today, guns are run by a small computer manufactured into them. They run off of large bottles of Co2, nitrogen, and compressed air, which will shoot up to 2000 times. Guns are semi-auto, or full auto, and will shoot over 25 rounds a second. Loaders hold over 200 balls and even have motorized fans inside of them to load balls. Paint cost less than 3 cents a ball. Safety has also improved a lot. Now you can buy complete facemasks, gloves, or body armor. The sport is still evolving and at any given time there is bound to be a new invention. There are many benefits to playing paintball.
To some, the game of Ultimate Frisbee has all the best elements of Football, Soccer, Basketball, and everyone's favorite beach sport of course: tossing a Frisbee. There is nothing leisurely about it though. It is an intense, fast-paced, and strategic game. A good game of Ultimate Frisbee isn’t like anything else. If you want to learn how to play, you can get a simple overview of the rules, get some friends together for a game and learn to be strategic to give your team the best chance of winning.
Borderline: Although paintball may not seem like a sport, it actually does fit
The sport of basketball is known as a fun past time for any person young or old. Basketball is a great way of exercise and a great way to have fun with friends and possibly make some new ones. I love to watch and play the game, basketball is a very entertaining sport and can be played by anyone. Basketball has many negative and positive things about it based on my opinion. Basketball is known as a good pastime in many people’s eyes but can also be seen as a passion for many others.
Football isn’t even the most dangerous contact sport that you could play. Other high school sports have recorded just as much, or even more concussions than football. In an article on WebMD.com Robert Preidt writes that, “Between 2010 and 2015, the concussion rate was higher in girls' soccer than in boys' football, the findings showed. During the 2014-2015 school year, concussions were more common in girls' soccer than in any other sport in the study.” Despite being viewed as one of the most dangerous sports, football does not even have the largest rate of concussions or the most serious concussions. In fact, in another study on Fox Sports.com, soccer was seen to be responsible for more of the serious concussions. Concussion numbers can be dropped with attentiveness and responsibility as kids play the game of football. Most concussions in youth football are a result of the player being irresponsible or intentionally violent while they play. But, new rules are in place that diminish this style of play. The amount of concussions can be reduced, and organizations are working on making football a safer game to play. In an article on the New York Times Marvin Washington, a former NFL player, says, “I know this is contrary to public opinion, but the game of football is safer than it has ever been, and is evolving into an even safer game.” The safety of football players at all
One of my friends and I's favorite past times is paintball. From the adrenaline pumping into your veins, to the stupid crazy things we do while we are fighting. As long as we have the time and the money to play this sport, we will continue to play. It has brought my friends and I together, and has only made us come together as a group. Even when we were put against each other we still had a fun time playing paintball. It is truly an exhilarating sport. With tons of different people joining along with you coming with different and innovative gear, and coming from all around the world. This is one of the many ways this game is unique.
Most people feel pretty tired after a few hours of play. After awhile, endurance will increase, making it easier for people to last much longer. Some events can last over the course of two days through the night much like some of the military simulation games, or MilSim for short. Video gamers can no longer use the excuse that the games help their hand-eye coordination to avoid getting outside and being physical. With Airsoft we have to really coordinate our body movement to return fire and stay in cover at the same time. Shooting at a range or even hunting is quite different than shooting from cover . Airsoft can offer a conditioning workout, but it doesn’t take much to gain the benefits that come with it. Just a few times a week can offer improved self-esteem and self-satisfaction. Increased feelings of energy and confidence. As well as decreases symptoms associated with depression. All these good feelings give us more motivation to keep exercising, especially if it’s fun. It improves the ability to think faster on our feet. Increased awareness of how other people think. Airsoft also gives people a chance to learn how to sneak around better and hide from an actively searching group. This can become useful in a dangerous situation along the lines of a house break
