Code of Ethics Analysis Phase Two NAEYC code of ethical conduct focuses on moral and ethical implications of those who work with young children. The overall theme of this particular code is to hold those who work with young children accountable for their daily decisions and keep children safe. Likewise, Georgia’s code of ethic strives to do the same, while focusing on the professional behavior of educators. The main theme of Georgia’s code of ethic outlines and defines the unethical conduct justifying disciplinary sanctions to hold educators accountable. Equally, the codes share many similarities, two ideas I will like to specify are honesty and the ethical responsibility to children. One way the codes differ is by their ethical responsibilities. The NAEYC code provides four areas of responsibilities, (Ethical Responsibilities to Children, Ethical Responsibilities to Families, Ethical Responsibilities to Colleagues, and Ethical Responsibilities to Community and Society). However, Georgia’s code simply explains the responsibility of an educator role in their profession. Another idea where these codes differ is in their framework. The NAEYC framework is divided by the target group, each section is further subdivided into sections. Each section of the framework contains the targeted group, the ideals of the group, and the principles of how those goals will be accomplished and what type of behavior might be necessary to resolve ethical dilemmas. Each of these are important in the counseling relationship.
The Code of Ethics for Nurses was created to be a guide for nurses to perform their duties in a way that is abiding with the ethical responsibilities of the nursing profession and quality in nursing care. The Code of Ethics has excellent guidelines for how nurses should behave, however; these parameters are not specific. They do not identify what is right and wrong, leaving nurses having to ultimately make that decision. Ethics in nursing involves individual interpretation based on personal morals and values. Nursing professionals have the ethical accountability to be altruistic, meaning a nurse who cares for patients without self-interest. This results in a nurse functioning as a patient advocate, making decisions that are in the best interest of the patient and practicing sound nursing ethics.

There will be many times in ones educational career when they will have different viewpoints or want to break some of these obligations, its important to think about whom one talks to, who is watching, and what the consequences are.
Friendships may be formed; however, having professional interactions is something that is not always followed. In terms of patient confidentiality, we may not realize that a HIPPA violation has occurred due to a friendly conversation with coworkers. If a patient were to overhear their nurse discussing their information in an unprofessional manner, then it may cause issues with a patient’s dignity and their rights. If a patient’s right is violated, then it can lead to a patient’s mistrust in their caregiver, leading to mistrust in the facilities, and can end with a patient’s health being compromised. The patient is the reason for this career; if the needs of the patient are being unmet or violated then the purpose of our occupation will be unsuccessful and indifferent.

The field of nursing is a profession that has been highly regarded and respected in society. Most nurses enter the profession in order to utilize their clinical skills to help others in their time of need.
