Health care is the improvement and maintenance of one’s mental and physical health through medical services. Well developed countries offer all of their people access to public health and medical services. It varies as to what specific types of healthcare services are available because every country’s society is different. There are certainly barriers when it comes to providing health care to everyone such as demographics, socioeconomic, language and much more. So should health care be recognized as a right? In the article of “Justice and Access to Health Care”, it introduces Dworkin’s argument which can be summarized as we have an obligation to treat people as equals. Treating people as equals is best achieved by giving people equality of resources. I agree with this, healthcare should be a right to everyone, it should be available and accessible. There are barriers to overcome, such as some diseases are underfunded, wealthier urban places have more physicians present, and cultural views that may prevent them from getting health care. Health care should be provided by the government and let the people decide if they want to get those services. Some may argue that the government should not be responsible to provide health care for everyone.
