The importance of pets in individuals’ lives is very high. Since people started having pets, tens of thousands of years ago, they brought happiness to the people. Then, the humans got easily attached to them and to them, pets became as important as their own children and family. Also, pets became their owners’ best friends and made them have a very important responsibility. Most people loved their pets so much; however, there are people who disliked pets thinking they’re a big mess, at the same time not realizing that they have many benefits. Pets are their owners’ best friends and are important to many people and should be to all because they always make them feel better when they’re upset and stand by their side, they protect the people, …show more content…
People say pets like dogs and cats have human behaviors, which they do, one of them being showing loyalty and pure love to other pets and humans. However, pets usually show loyalty and express love until they leave their owners, unlike many individuals who have trouble showing long-lasting love and loyalty. First to talk about loyalty, pets(all of them) usually don’t betray their possessors and can be trusted. Times that pets displayed their loyalty mainly are when their owners leave to somewhere and come back after a long time and when their owners die, but pets show that their loyal in everyday activities too, but mainly in these times. Next about love, the bond between an individual and his/her pet is an extremely tight bond with pure love from both. Pets express their love by actually the reasons I listed before this reason, by protecting their owners and by always being by their side and making them feel better and happy. To talk about times they show their pure love, there really aren't specific or main times, but I could only say as long as they are with their people they will constantly show their love to them. A pet is something everyone should have and like because of their way of showing love and loyalty forever and ever, which is the reason why most individuals get a
Have you ever wondered how much it costs to have and maintain a pet? Burkhard Bilger, the author of “The Last Meow”, explains how Americans spend a lot of money on their pets and that people's “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control. An observation I have made is that in many movies dogs are treated very well. When I was younger, I watched a movie called Bratz and one character would always have her dog inside a dog purse and they would even get manicures and pedicures together. The dog always had shiny clothes on and it was always very clean. Therefore, I agree with Bilger's argument that Americans “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control.
Although cats and dogs are both animals they are different in many ways from, showing love, grooming, vaccinations, food, and vet care. To me dogs are more loveable than cats. However, cats are cheaper when it comes to grooming, vaccinations, and food. Owners treat and take care of their dogs better than their cats. I have always been more of a dog person even though they are expensive.
When I was little my teachers would ask me “Cora, What do you want to be when you grow up”? In reality, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’. When I was around seven, I went from wanting to be a Veterinarian to being an Astronaut, then back to a Veterinarian again. Around age 10, I wanted to be a dentist, even though I hate mouths. Then I wanted to be a Veterinarian again. Junior Year of high school came and when we started to research colleges and careers I heard that Premed programs were so hard to get into, and I wasn’t fooling anyone with my grades. I did some research on Veterinarians and I discovered that the Veterinarians don’t really handle the animals like I thought they did. Then I learned about Veterinary Technicians, they do so much with the animals. I

You wake up in the hospital, look around, and find a doctor hovering nearby declaring that you have just suffered through a heart attack; affirming that if not for your dog, you would have died. You remember back to earlier that day: sitting on the couch, feeling a little off, hearing your dog barking, sensing him nudging you, going to the phone to call the ambulance, and having your dog by your side until you were safe inside the aluminum walls of the emergency vehicle. Although it sounds abnormal that a dog would be the one to save someone’s life, situations similar to the one above are not uncommon. Dogs and other household pets have been shown to be able to detect medical emergencies, including heart attacks and seizures, in their owners.
The goal of the study was to determine personality characteristics of pets and to use the circumplex model to assess human-animal bonds. The results confirm that self-identified dog and cat people seek complementarity with their pets. However, results were insignificant between the interaction with ideal pet and the level of complementarity. It appears that the greatest predictor for human-animal attachment is the correspondence between the needs of the owner and the interpersonal characteristics of their pet (Woodward & Bauer, 2007).
Dogs, without a doubt, are better than cats. For thousands of years this point has been proven, time and time again. We hear about amazing things that dogs do everyday for people across the globe, but the question is, what do you hear about cats? The fact of the matter is, cats suck. Cats have been and always will be selfish, arrogant, greedy, and self centered jerks. Dogs, however, will continue to forever be loyal, devoted, true, and selfless. While both cats and dogs have their own purposes in life, whether it be love or playfulness, dogs portray what the definition of a true best friend is, and cats portray what the perfect enemy is, terrible and atrocious.
Many people think that pets are too much of a responsibility. But they do not know that it gives you laughter, love, and happiness. They say that cats are easy to take care of and usually cost less but I believe that dogs are easier to take care of and it brings you more joy and happiness in life.
Over 71 million American households (62%) have a pet, and most people think of their pets as members of the family. Some research studies have found that people who have a pet have healthier hearts, stay home sick less often, make fewer visits to the doctor, get more exercise, and are less depressed. Pets may also have a significant impact on allergies, asthma, social support, and social interactions with other people (Casciotti) .
... and faithfulness that cannot be found from any other source. Even the most hardened of hearts can be touched by a cold wet nose or a comforting snuggle. Pets seem to be able to recognize and adapt to many of the conditions placed on them in our human environment. They can provide the sense of companionship, and love that is lacking in regular human relationships.
In the 21st century, depression, anxiety, and stress are at an all time high in society. More and more people are committing suicide and being diagnosed with mental health issues. More and more kids are beginning to get anxiety and stress issues at a young age. Sometimes, pets are the easiest for children to talk to about their issues. "Even though pets may not fully understand or respond verbally, the level of disclosure to pets was no less than to siblings...The fact that pets cannot understand or talk back may even be a benefit as it means they are completely non-judgmental. Your pet doesn't understand you. But they also totally understand you”(Dahl). Growing up with pets at such a young age, I was also a child that did this. It may not seem like it to adults, but sometimes a family pet really is easier for a child to talk to because they can’t really respond back. It gives a child a chance to rant about their issues without someone talking back or even tell them their issues aren’t
Animal rights have unequivocally been a major concern amongst humans for some time now. Animal rights are based on the notion that non-human animals should be allowed to live freely: free from abuse and suffering, as humans are. The extreme issue amongst humans is whether or not non-human animals have the capacity for rationality to deserve such equal consideration. When examining the issue of animal rights, one may have come to question one’s psyche on whether or not animal rights are ethical.
What is animal science? Why does animal science even exist? How many areas of study ar in animal science s? Does the average person relate to animal science at any given point in their life?
