The impact of Social Media on academic life
In this report we will be discussing a whole range of topics on how social media has had a massive impact on academic skills. The reason why we choose this as a group is because we all know how big social media and also social networking sites has had a massive impact on us and also a lot of people not just youngster but adult as well so this research/project really fits in our age democrat and our day to day lifestyle. We split the research and presentation evenly so between the three of us know one had too much to do or too little to do. As a trio I believe we worked well as a team even though we only knew each other’s couple weeks prior the group research was given out. No matter what people do everybody socialise with different people whether if it’s on the phone, computer, work, school, colleges and even universities. What we really want to know is why it has a massive affect on people’s academic life, seeing as people mostly use social media networking sites to communicate with family members and friends. The issues that will be discussing in this report will be:

Social media is interacting with people using the internet. This risk assessment shows what we have planned for any risk that may accrue while doing our project. We also showed what and how we would handle them as a team. Few of the risks above did occur to us which is what we put it in our risk assessment.

Social media can be defined as web sites and other online means of communication that are used by large groups of people to share information and to develop social and professional contacts: Many businesses are utilizing social media to generate sales (Dictionary.com, n.p.).
Currently, social media is the most popular method of communicating and interacting with others. It is a methodology to new media as it changes and evolves with our needs and expectations. Social media has evolved and adapted to become a huge part of our personal and professional lives.
Whereas the word social media itself defines the meaning of, social of communication. Which then not only provides you information but allowing you to interact while it provides you with information. Interaction can be as simple as leaving a comment or voting on an article to as complex as recommending information base on similar interest with other users. In comparison towards traditional media, it is a ‘one-way street’ where you receive information and only be able to give your thoughts to people whom you know. Social media is a form of online communication channels devoted to society input, intercommunication, and cooperation. In social media, people can talk and interact without restriction, exchange and debate information with each other about their lives by using many different combinations of the words, personal multimedia, photos, and videos. Also, in social media, individulsa and groups can create, edit, comment on, and engage in personal conversations. There are numerous types of social media, for example, wikis, blogs, social network site, micro blogging services, and sites sharing media. At the beginning, social media was limited to a few networks sites, for instance, Bulletin Board System that allows people to communicate with each other and post a comment. Today, social media has transformed from ineffective sites to more useful and effective websites, for example, Facebook, and MySpace. Some companies are using social media to achieve their goals which is attracting more customers to company website. Three advantages of using social media in business are: raising brand consciousness, building customer relationships, and increasing performance measurements.
Communication plays an important role and becomes an essential part in our daily lives. Today we have taken communication to new level as social media and social networking. They have had a tremendous impacts on the word, on our culture and in business as well. Social media websites are some of the most popular on the internet, such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. They are the places where people can interact with others easily and expose themselves to strangers. Our generation and the younger ones have more opportunities to grow up with the new development of technology that will shape the way they live of communicating and sharing ideas. The social media causes some problems that lead to less social interaction and negatively affect students academic, but it also brings benefit to people that creates new social connections to bring people from all over the world to be closer.
Social Media has become a very essential tool in the society; in addition, it has a huge impact on communication and learning process. Social media is defined as websites and applications used for social networking. “As of September 2013, seventy-one percent of online adult use Facebook, eighteen percent use Twitter and seventeen percent use Instagram, twenty-two percent use PInterest, and another twenty-two percent use LinkedIn. (PewReasearch, 2013). In addition, "Between February 2005 and August 2006, the use of social networking sites among young adult internet user ages eighteen and twenty-nine jumped from nine percent to forty-nine percent. The usage of social media had grown drastically.” On social media sites like these, users may develop biographical profiles, communicate with friends and strangers, do research, and share thoughts, photos, music, links, and more” (Socialnetworking.procon,2012). Social media has impacted everyone in several different ways. In this present time, majority of college student use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Social media has a bold impact college student's grades, social interactions, and the teaching and learning process.
Today social media has become a big influence on society. There are many different social media sites that allow people to interact with others. Such social media sites are Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. There are many more different sites, but these are the popular networks that are being used today. These sites allow you to connect with anybody you want to. Social media sites can make you feel connected with others and seem like the best thing, but at the same time it can be a weakness that many of us have.

Social media is a low-cost, high-impact tool that can also complement and reinforce your existing communications efforts. It gives a new dimension to internal communications in many ways: building relationship with employees, leads to diverse thinking and innovation, and reduce costs and Increase Productivity. Social media has impacted positively in the business world, but its downside has impacted teens in high school, with issues such as cyber bullying, and people using Facebook and twitter to get over their boredom and research proving that the more they use social networking websites the more envious they feel.

The way that each site functions may differ; for example, Facebook is used to keep in touch with friends, whereas YouTube is used to share videos with others. Nowadays, social media is growing very rapidly throughout the whole world.
